Since visiting Brussels in 2000 i've become known as a bit of a "Beer Snob" by my mates. I'm in to allsorts and have been since that trip, German Wheat beers, Belgium Trappist beer mostly but there are hundreds of different ones to go at. Before that i drank Stella Artois untill being laughed at for drinking such crap in Brussels and being offered the good stuff they sell. Some of the Belgium beers weigh in at 9%-12% so caution is needed! Well a bit is. Luckily for my health they are a bit hard to get hold of round our way.
Demos i'll have a few cans of Largerpi*ss with the rest but i regret it every time the next day.
With the proper beer i can have a few and not get a hang over, with the cans i feel like my heads been kicked in because of all the chemical crap thats in them.

You should try it with vodka, bloody lovely. We used to make it up beforehand to take with us to any rock festivals we went to or Ascot, it's the only times I ever drank it :)

Got to be ale in my view. More taste than lager or the Euro Fizz you can get in cans from Tesco's. Apart from anything else ale is often brewed locally, so by drinking it you are keeping local folks in a job. Brewing seems to be one of the few industries still thriving in the Black Country. For me it has to be Bathams, Holdens, Sarah Hughes or Banks's (even though it is brewed in Wolvo Rampton) every time.

What an exciting week-end. Had a reasonable time dodging bits of flying fence in Dudley on Saturday, Baggies almost back in the Prem and traipsed over to Warwick races today to find it was abandoned. Need to go back to work tomorrow to wind down. Boing, boing .........

Since I visited my very first pub, my mates call me a beer monster! I'm rather partial to the '10 pint princesses' when I've had a few too many....oops!

Anyone tried UBU?
Yes mate, have tried a beer called UBU in the Green Man in Harborne (Brum). Bit bland for me but it wouldn't do if we were all the same would it ?? Brewed by a company called Purity in Warwickshire. See http://www.puritybrewing.com/ for more details.

heres 1 for ya snorting vodka down the rugby club. a lads party trick
Can't you get brain damage from that?
Hi Mantra

Yes I would say you can definitely get brain damage from that. By that I mean that playing Rugby is fairly dangerous however drinking with a bunch of Rugby players in a Rugby club is sure to bring on brain damage at some point. In comparison snorting Vodka is fine :0)

UBU sounds like heaven to me mate, seem to remember I had to make do with freezing cold, fizzy, tasteless, Watney's bleedin' Red Barrel when I tied the nuptual knot. Hope the day goes well !!! Watch out though, there is always a fight at the best weddings (including mine). Still, 25 years later we are still together......

I'm a Stella monster. I love the stuff. Years ago, I used to drink cheap white star cider, £1.10 a bottle. All chemicals and not an apple in sight but Christ did it used to give you a kick. Plus a massive hangover in the morning. I also make a lethal Elderflower wine. I opened up a gallon last summer and it put the missus, daughter and son on their arse's. The next day they all said that they had the worse hangovers in history and wouldn't touch the stuff again. Thinking of getting some more on the go. ;)

Hi Ujac

Shouldn't that be whisky rather than whiskey if you're flying the St Andrews saltire. I recall visiting Bushmills in Northern Ireland and at the end of the tour you could drink as much as you liked of the various products. I was driving and my girlfriend who hates the stuff refused to drive back who then became my ex :0)

At St. George's distillery in the region østengelske Norfolk is the first barrels of golden droplets just finished matured. The magic storage limit of three years was passed in late November and from next week comes the whiskey on sale.

Ah.. It's already here. I'm going to get a bottle for this weekend. :)
