Eight people were arrested at the south Wales football derby between Cardiff City and Swansea City, including one for running onto the pitch. The game was won by hosts Cardiff 2-1 with an injury time goal. Four people were arrested for public order offences. The other arrests included assaulting a police officer, and criminal damage. All of the arrests were made in and around the stadium. There were just over 25,000 people at the game. South Wales Police praised the behaviour of the majority of the supporters before, during and after the game which kicked off at 1720 BST on Saturday. Before the match, warnings had been issued that anyone caught misbehaving would be banned from future games. Divisional Commander for Cardiff, Ch Supt Josh Jones said: "Despite the later kick-off, which might have led to increased alcohol-related disorder, I am pleased to say that the event passed relatively smoothly without major incident. "This can be attributed to a combination of factors - the layout of the new stadium, the good behaviour of the fans, the stewarding at Cardiff City Football Club and effective policing. "Unfortunately there was some unacceptable damage to toilets inside the stadium prior to the game which will now form part of a post-match investigation along with the eight arrests |

Oh there hard, filling in a toilet (in more ways than one) and a few sinks.... 8 arrests wasn't bad though, although I'm probably assuming something happened away from the stadium. |

Aren't you leicester? Didn't your lot get done by coventry with 2x their numbers? Oh and the toilets were set alight and the pipes ripped out to flood them actually |

Probably, I wouldn't know, fighting to see which football club is better is not my thing, but fair play to you if you do it. I just think its needless to flood toilets, toilets which the public will be using, families and children. |

Went to leister will Derby once and out side the ground i saw 10 derby fans and 15-20 liester fans goading and shouting each other about 10 feet from each other. No police or stewards and not a punch was thrown. One of the saddest sights iv ever seen at football. |

I'm sure they would get on. It happens already at the EDL demos and everyone seems to get on from what i've seen. |

Been happening for years. When I was in the army we used to fight with other battalions/units all the time, it's a tribal thing. As long as people are united when it counts I don't really see a problem with it. |

SCOUSE WEDDING ...I'm scouse and some people have noted how we tend to attack the people we have been drinking with all night. i don't see it myself, I'll put that one on the Glaswegians. basically i see it as, we are a island and have been inherently tribal for thousands if not tens of thousands of years. and that still comes out, whether it's at the football, work, pub, holiday... IMO, its just in the British DNA. !! |

What happened in Swansea was simply down to lack of organization and next to none support from the EDL. It was early days for the EDL/WDL and Swansea does have a big BNP support just like cities like Stoke so it was obviously going to attract the wrong people. Swanseas and Cardiffs actual firms would never get on at a demo and that is a fact, the only "firm" from Swansea who go to the marches are people who call themselves North Bank Ultras

Why not mate? Couldn't they just put their differences aside for the EDL, for one day? For all I care, you can scrap hours after the demo back in Wales. |

You have to understand the hatred involved between the 2 south wales clubs, it's ok saying 'do it for your country etc' but if you don't live there you don't understand. I would would never stand shoulder to shoulder with a hardened Irish republican, even if he was against islamic extremism. |

Not read the whole threads posts, so f**king what, this is an EDL forum not a football forum, Football is left aside when you enter the EDL, forums or demos. We are not here for football or any related stuff, we are here as EDL. If you cant leave that for elsewhere, stop posting, you are doing everyone a disfavour, end of. |

but my god im sure that they are rival fims of just casuals - not anti british terrorists! i completely agree with what your saying its just theres a bit of difference between "just other casuals" and terrorists standing at the opposite side of you politically and culturally. same as rangers vs celtic in glasgow, linfield vs cliftonville here |

Coming from Cardiff myself, from a football point of view I understand the animosity between the two teams, there aren't really any other teams of note, so it is almost a South East Wales Vs South West Wales match, the Gogs all support Liverpool & Man U. It is a Bluebirds duty to hate the evil Jacks and vice versa. Conversely as a rugby supporter (only armchair follow football) you can go to the same equivalent match Cardiff Blues Vs Ospreys, watch games unsegregated, drink in pubs with opposing supporters and get no trouble. Plus both teams ground share with the football teams, so it is the same venue. |

Off on a slight tangent here, but when I was away in Poland v England (World Cup qualifier, 1993) there was no hassle between 'rivals' - we all got-on well. England fans united - club rivalries put aside for national unity on very hostile away turf. There were Sunderland & Newcastle fans drinking together, Chelsea & Fulham, etc... etc... - it was very re-assuring and we were well up for the game (we got a 1-1 draw, thanks to Ian Wright! )The only trouble we had (apart from the Poles) was a bunch of daft Pompey fans who attacked some Saints supporters in a bar in Katowice, the night before. When we heard of this, the Pompey fans were shunned by the rest of us, and I still dislike Pompey to this day (also as I went to Fratton with Cambridge United and we got attacked there, for no reason)! I'm glad that Pompey are going down.

If it is the video I'm thinking of (can't watch it atm in work) then Coventry had the better before that incident since alot of them were tooled up but Leicester should have smashed them with twice their numbers - weapons or no weapons they should not have run back into the pub like that |
