Those celebrities need to reconsider whether they should support the UAF or not. They probably pledged their support at the time when the UAF only protested against the BNP. I wonder what they think of the 55+ UAF who were arrested.

I seriously doubt any of those bands know what the UAF is, and people like suggs and morrisey have to overcompensate on the leftie-ometer because of controversies in the past.

I wonder how many bands would come out and back EDL...? They'd probably be too afraid of losing their main fanbase which would probably be students.

What an excellent suggestion and as long as members were extremely polite in their emails to the Management pointing out these facts and that the UAF's two leaders were also arrested and charged it wouldn't hurt at all would it.

I'm surprised at Morrisey. I was led to believe that he isn't a Leftist hipster.

Leftism has always been hip, despite the fact that it is so old-fashioned and (red) fascist. Bands are not known for their political brains. They just spout trendy and empty leftist sh1t.

Read somewhere recently about johnny Rotten critisizing some of these "trendy left, safe european home" clown bands like Elvis costello etc boycotting gigs in Israel and he thought they were hypocrites. Nice one

Missed out Gary Glitter, he is a role model to Muslim men raping young women and girls then stoning then under sharia law which the UAF support!

A shame about a lot of those bands. The fact is that while some of them may be incurable, some of them probably just don't understand. It sounds pretty reasonable to 'unite against fascism' until you know a bit more about the group.

Smelly Student - Do you want to join our group to fight racism?
Musician - Yes, racists are bad and signing will make me look and feel good. Whatever.

sh1t :( I liked Massive Attack
My friend played drums for massive attack..Pete lewinson.

He hates nazis as much as I do. Dont think he knows about the EDL but just agreed to support any organisation that is anti-fascist.

Dont think many of the bands really understand the under-currents of the UAF....

I would fight against any organisation that tries to tell me I am not English because I am brown...

The media label the EDL as neo-nazis...Sorry..If the EDL is then I would be the first to fight them...It is NOT...just look at the forum posts.

Massive Attack are and will always be cool ;-).

I dont blame the bands...try their management ..

They are against C18, NF,BM,APL groups...

Celebritys will always endorse anything to improve PR, I'd like to see their views behind closed doors when the media aren't around. Like Cheryl 'I'm not a racist cos I bone black men' Cole. She was when she was battering and racially abusing a black bog attendant, and she was when she was at School cos she forced a Burmese origined family to move, then bothered them again when they did
"He that wishes to see his country robbed of its rights can not be a patriot". Samual Johnson

"What is our policy?... To wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. What is our aim?... Victory... Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terror. Victory, however long and hard the road may be. For without victory, there is no survival". Sir Winston Churchill.

are these groups supporting by donation or just vocaly supporting them?

madness had a hard time in the early days with being an all white band so supporting them years ago would make sense. now with them being older should see straight through them or like previously said its more than likley a management issue.

fact is if you are famous and you get approached by them and you refuse to support them they will kick off and say "your racist are you?" so i expect most just do it for a quiet life

I just think the United Against Facism should realise that we (EDL) are not the enemy, we are NOT facists, and should be standing with us NOT against us!!!
The UAF is against facism and I 'm against facism myself, but that's NOT what the EDL are...WE ARE NOT THE ENEMY!!!!!!

ALEX AND THE BANDITS! That's it really. I think the only other bands that would support the EDL are some of the Oi and punk bands. There has been one or two members from an Oi band in London who have attended EDL demos.

A bit lame, considering they sing a song about their love for their country and then support the UAF, who's leader has openly criticism of patriotism of any form in this country (well British and English any way).

No. They aren't.
They are a government funded rent-a-mob (more of a rent-a-few these days TBH) who object to anybody standing up for the freedoms and traditions of their country. They cause trouble everywhere they go. They are (apart from islam, of course) the most fascist, extremist outfit operating in this country today.
Next question, you silly-billy.
