Nice to see some one is helping our ex soldiers, it's a national scandal that they are allowed to sleep on the streets. A young ex-soldier who was turned down for hundreds of jobs has inspired a new campaign to get bosses to Hire A Hero. soldier Hire a hero and get soldiers back into work Yusupha ‘Baresi’ Secka struggled for ten months to find work after he left the Army, until he met nursing agency boss Karen Chadwick. The 32-year-old told her how he attended hundreds of interviews but never landed a job because employers did not feel his military skills were much use in the workplace. However, she was so impressed she took him on as a care worker and he has become ‘a great ambassador’ for her company. Now, Ms Chadwick, 51, has joined forces with other businesses to launch her Hire A Hero campaign to sweep away the prejudices against former servicemen and women. About 24,000 personnel leave the armed services every year. It is feared as many as 1,100 of them end up sleeping rough on the streets of London every night. Three per cent of prisoners – nearly 2,500 – are ex-military. Repeated rejection when applying for jobs can be demoralising and lead to other problems, such as drink and drugs, say charities. Ms Chadwick said: ‘We have heard of more stories like Baresi’s including ex-servicemen selling The Big Issue. People are being failed but, if we all work together – businesses, resettlement organisations – to raise awareness and get better cohesion, then things can change.’ Manchester-based Hire A Hero has set up a Facebook page and a hotline – 0161 447 6147. The MoD said 96 per cent of staff found work within six months of leaving the services. The scheme was launched on the day the deaths of two more British troops – a rifleman and an airman – were announced in Afghanistan. A mother mourns |

A novel idea. To be honest, I think our soldiers should not even pay tax. But try and get that past the liberal islamic loving Parliament. |

This is the sort of programme that we can use our influence to influence political parties to enact into law. Our soldiers and ex-soldiers deserve respect and they deserve help to realise their full potential in civilian life when they finally and honorably leave the service of the Crown. |

UK ARMED FORCES PERSONNEL WHO HAVE BEEN ON ACTIVE DUTY SHOULD BE GIVEN PREFERENCE FOR EMPLOYMENT IF THEY CAN BE CONSIDERED AS BEING ADEQUATLY SKILLED OR HAVE THE APPTITUDE TO TAKE ON NEW SKILL'S. PERIOD. 999

Allowed to be first in line to die for the country. But no preferential treatment at the dole queue? Figures. f**king labour Government. I wish Cromwell would come back from the dead, he would hang the f**king lot of them in our Parliament and i think the EDL would be given front row seats. |

I remember watching that program about a ex service man who was living on the streets, it really made me tear up. He didn't deserve to be treated like that. |

I agree of course, they deserve all the help they need. What infuriates me is that so many like Choudray pick up thousands in benifits so that they are free to preach their hatered and support terrorisum. Choudray cant work (allegedly) because he has to pray 8 times a day. I pray 10 times a day, but he,s still alive! No doubt that dispicable creature and all like him are more than pleased that the ex military were able to pay taxes whilst serving. We got it all wrong |

Christ i,m getting more and more angry thinking about those ex service guys and girls who are struggling. The British government (as directed by our European masters) hand out MILLIONS (dont be daft Bobby, BILLIONS) in benifits to immigants, house them, feed them, free health care, schooling, free legal support, free use of interpreters, given priority because they have lots of kids, it goes on and on. And yet some of our own, sleep on the streets and cant find work. Well done HM Government!!!!!!! Put that in your manifesto. |

I can't believe our ex soldiers are treated like crap by our own Government. They should get higher wages and not be taxed for anything. They basically work for peanuts, its disgusting. |
