I really think that the EDL needs to become political. Our number's are growing at an alarming rate and I hope that this will continue. But I think the only way forward for our wonderful organisation is to develop a political voice. We have now come to the attention of the rest of the world and support is gathering mommetum throughout the world.

You aint seen nothing yet. Let's get this show on the road.

"I really think that the EDL needs to become political."

And what would it's politics be? On this board there are conservatives, socialists, liberals, nostalgic imperialists and I've even seen the mad ramblings of a nationalist marxist (which in theory shouldn't even be possible!)

What unites the people who support the EDL is a distaste for the Islamification of the UK and the threat it poses, hardly a firm basis for creating a political party. Also the right wing vote is already split between the Cons, UKIP and the BNP, we don't need another right wing party.

What would the EDL do that isn't covered by the above parties?

This is great stuff, and great use of freedom of speech! I have heard that is on QT tonight, but then again I heard that last week.

I hope they let him on so he can give out more of the same!

He was going to be on last week's QT which most importantly was in Middlesbrough, however they withdrew his invite at the last minute. This was because he was going to explain why the Corus steel plant was going to be closed. It is because the owners Tata will get one BILLION Pounds in carbon tax credits from the EU (our money) for not polluting the environment. They will then shift production to India where there is no restriction on polluting (so we've not saved anything just relocated it and it'll all going into the atmosphere anyway). Also the head guy of the IPCC (the UN worldwide body on global warming) also has a financial interest in Tata. The Lefty BBC for some reason thought that the good people of Middlesbrough and surrounding areas might be just a little unhappy about losing their jobs especially when it had nothing to do with the profitability of the steel plant and that they might resent Labour & the EU for making them unnecessarily unemployed at a time of high unemployment.

He got a rough ride from the BBC on Radio 2 this morning. They had Dame Shirely Williams, who is a keen (surprise surprise) EU supporter and she was extremely rude to him and kept talking over him. Even the presenter was extremely hostile (The BBC showing their impartiality again!).

I found that the points Nigel was making were swept aside and the focus being on how bad it was for our image in the world for us to be rude to an unelected president of the EU.

That sounds like a typical Labour, EU Ploy! Thats the whole problem with the EU its all fictional hoping the general public will take it in. The only reason we would ever have to rely on the EU is because of the dire situation that has been created by labour in the first place.

Its good that someone out there has the backbone to speak up for Britain!

This is European democracy for you. Say what everybody in Britain is thinking with a few very minor insults and now people are saying he should resign or be punished.

f**k off EU. We in Britain don't need you and we don't want you.

The real choice for EDL is whether to become political in its own right or whether to endorse a pre-existing political platform. Either way there is the prospect of gaining political influence and political power. Being part of a larger whole would allow EDL to have broader political relevance and achieve a deeper political impact. EDL needs to realise that it is a force to be reckoned with within the United Kingdom and as such the EDL leadership must be taken seriously at the national level. That means that organisations like the BBC MUST give them a fair an impartial hearing.
