this song makes me sad, because a Falklands veteran is homeless!

Lyrics
Quote:

My God, it was cold in the Falklands
When the stars and the flares shone out clear,
But at least I had mates to share jokes with
It’s much colder and lonelier here.
And that sharp piece of Argentine shrapnel
It’s hurt me for many a year
But not like when you look straight through me,
Pretending I’m not even here.

My God, we were thirsty in Kuwait
And choking in dust we went dry
But we shed a few tears for our Gary
When a mine took his legs and he died
And knowing the next step could kill me
I thought it had taught me of fear
’Til I see how you look straight through me
Pretending I’m not even here.

My God, I was angry to hear it
When “home” from the army I came:
There were flats for Iraqis and Afghans
But never a one with my name.
I thought that the council would sort it
’Til a desk clerk with spiky green hair
Said “next please” and looked straight through me
Pretending I just wasn’t there.

So I swear and I curse and I mutter
Though the anger is mainly inside
Without hope there’s no disappointment
There’s no one out there on my side.
I know the White Lightning will kill me
Don’t you see that I really don’t care?
It helps me to look straight through you
And pretend that I’m not quite all there.

So I live where the police cars can’t see me
In my rags and my old cardboard box
And there’s no one would notice me vanish
Except for my mate, Corporal Fox.
Two broken old squaddies together
In winter we share the same lair
And I bring him some bones from our Colonel
So he doesn’t pretend I’m not there.

I've spoken to many economic migrants charlie and they without exception come here because they believed they would get better treatment here than anywhere else in europe. Even the French Government has slated our political elite for taking such a softly softly approach, and that's not even mentioning muslim extremists that the French are concerned about. Many of the newly built luxury flats that weren't being sold privately were being made ready for economic migrants or eastern europeans ONLY thanks to the government and local authorities. I know this because we helped supply all the health and safety signs which were in foreign languages.

Don't believe the propaganda local government feeds you Charlie.

So what they speak the language, if they are genuine asylum seekers they will claim in the first safe country they arrive in. If I was in fear for my life that's what I would do for sure. If they dont do this they are econimic migrants as far as I'm concerned and should be treated as such and deported back to where they came from or the first safe country they travelled through

Yes there are loads of 'asylum seekers' where I live and the schools hospitals are at breaking point dealing with them.

Charlie I don't know what you agenda is but all you ever seem to do is come on her and wind people up. You really are full of it some times!

Yes I know your talking about 'asylum seekers' and under international law they are supposed to claim in the first safe country they arrive in.

There is no excuse for them to be held for that long, if they didn't claim in the first safe country they passed through then they are obviously economic migrants trying to get on the gravy train and should be deported within weeks.

@ charlie ref assylum seekers. My uncle, the guy who married my mothers sister was a genuine assylum seeker. He was one of the people these laws were set up to protect but now are mainly just abused. He was from luitiania,he lived on a farm with is 3 brothers, mam n dad.One day the germans knocked on the door and told the 4 brothers they had 5 mins to collect some things then they were off the fight the russians. At this time he was only just 15 years old.Anyway of the the easternfront he went.To cut along story short he ended up in the west and in a displaced persons camp when the brittish found out his sotry/age and eventually onto a DP camp at a place called moota in england which is 5 miles from where i live. These type of people i have no problem with,im related to one or was till he died a few years ago. Most(not all) are now just economic migrants.

Like you just said were talking about 'asylum seekers', immigration is a different issue all together.

At the moment our public services can't cope so what do you suggest we do about?

this song makes me sad, because a Falklands veteran is homeless!

Lyrics

Tragic. I was in tears and still am while writing this. My dad was 1 PARA.

NO SURRENDER. HOW CAN THEY DO THIS TO US? YOUR PARENTS, YOUR GRAND PARENTS. YOUR CHILDREN.

PLEASE BE IN LONDON ALL WHO CAN.

GOD BLESS THE EDL.

So ,the lyrics are so numbing and puts it into a vivid picture of what our services face once discharged.
Migration ,best left to canadian geese.

Im not saying that.Im saying if they here frauduantly ie they did not come directly here then they should not even be considered for assylum. If they are gen assylum seekers(although most are not) they give em fair consideration. Also any that have frauduantly been granted assylum should be revoked. This are my personal views not the EDLs.Im not BNp either nor even a racist more a realist and a man who sees a very distrubing future for my kin.

Keep to the points system we now have in place think a complete closed door is unworkable

we will get to the point where a lot of immigrant workers will return home seeing a decrease in the population

No problem with genuine asylum seekers who have fully complied with international law. If they haven't they should be deported back to where ever they came from or the first safe country the passed through. No ifs no buts.

OK so your talking about immigration now make you mind up will ya.

I think we should only let skilled people in for jobs that we are having problems filling. And if they break the law they should be deported immediately.
