"Chile, Argentina's traditional enemy, has long been a major supplier to the Falklands." Time to consolidate our relations with Chile. |

I wonder if they'll pull troops out of the middle east to guard the Falklands? |

A post I made from another thread The Argies will struggle to retake the Falklands by force, their armed forces are in a worse state now then they was in 82 due to under funding etc. We also have a lot better defence than in 82 - 4 typhoons which could possibly take on the whole Argie air force on their own, the new type 45 destroyers (air defence) would be deployed and make any pilot in the world think twice about having a go. Also 500 to a 1000 bored and pissed off soldiers with Rapier surfce to air (sam) missiles, throw into the mix a submarine that can be deployed to the area in a short space of time armed with tomohawk cruise missiles and I think things are not to bad for the Falklands. However if the dagos dig manage to bypass all that we would have a problem due to the rest of the armed services beging deployed else where (afghan etc) Don't try it again Argentina, remember what happened last time. "In seven weeks a task force of 28,000 men and over 100 ships was assembled and sailed 8000 miles. It fought off combat aircraft that outnumbered its own by six to one. It put 8500 men ashore on a hostile coast and fought several pitched battles against the enemy. And brought them to surrender within three and a half weeks." |

he is not the president of Argentina, he is the president of Venezuela and is a pillock of the highest order who is always trying to stir up trouble with the capitalist west due to his outdated communist agenda. Edited by Chester Loyal, Feb 23 2010, 02:17 AM.

Don't take any thing Chavez says as in anyway representative of what the Argentinian government is thinking or doing. He is a massive bell end. |

If what was said in the papers Friday is true then they have, with 2 battleships already out there and HMS York heading out over the weekend. |

The UK doesn't have any battleships nor do we have any cruisers (the next ship down from a battleship). Although we do still appear to have the second most powerful navy in the world still. |

Really? I would have thought that the septics and the russkis would both be streets ahead of us in terms of naval power. Would be surprised if the Chinese hadn't overtaken us too. Happy to be educated if I am wrong though. |

The US navy is certainly far ahead of us, but there are many things that decide how powerful your navy is. The Russians (no longer the USSR) have let their fleet go down the pan and the moral of their staff isn't great either. Just because you have a bigger fleet of older ships that haven't been serviced or updated and staff that aren't trained to the same standards, doesn't make your navy more powerful. |

i spoke to a naval commander two weeks ago and he was telling me how we are the best naval country rather than the obvious america which most people think. |
