France is set to perform a U-turn on its pledge to ban the burqa because of threats including 'terrorist reprisals' and legal challenges from the EU. Despite President Nicolas Sarkozy's assertion that Islamic veils were 'not welcome', MPs are to recommend today that they are barred only from public transport and civic buildings such as schools and hospitals. They would be permitted in private buildings or on the street. MPs already indicated that there are a range of dangers associated with a full ban – including terrorism or a challenge by the European Court of Human Rights. Now they are saying its going to be a Partial Ban... This will mean it is illegal to fully cover the face in public. Even this will be too far for the hard-liners. Queue the riots in France. But of course when they do riot it will be totally understandable as they are just expressing there free speech, right? |

Daze, I feel sorry for the French. 5 Million Muslims and counting. They're increasingly taking over France, in a few years you'll have reached the 20% critical level where history has shown the parasite will attack the host with full force violence and unrelenting riots. If France hits the 20% mark, it's going to be full scale rioting and full scale civil war. Mark my words. |

i don't agree... "enough is enough" would mean : ban burqa totally, like in Belgium. here, it's just a lot of fuss to win the elections in march. but the results is close to zero : - no school? these women don't go or let their children go to the Republican school because we teach things they refuse - no hospital? you know that if there's an emergency, doctors have the ethic duty to help the person - no public transports? they can be driven or walk by feet. It's not a real step. Besides, if you add that a "centrer against islamophobia" will appear... Who truely wins in the story? Radical Islam. This "half-ban" will encourage radical islam to spread, since the Muslim community ALREADY feels offended and attacked by this half-ban. And some "hijab girls" will decide to pass to the new stage : full veil. A half-ban will also encourage people to vote for Far-right, because burqa was a symbol... It's been 10 years the people is getting more and more on the right and asks the governement more security. If a dynamic man from the Conservatives acts this way, what can we expect? Going more on the right, like in 2002, when the Far-right passed the 1st tour of the presidential election? What i reproach him with is that he claimed everywhere he would do something, to finally do half of the thing. But it's "typically Sarkosy" i'd rather say ; he did the same thing with professional tax, for instance. This half ban is worse than a non-ban. |

I knew it was too good to be true, the french making a stand. I finally thought well played to them, and then they bring out the white flag? |

Roll on "the complete confrontation", I don't care where it starts in Europe, it will spread faster than warm jam. I know and like the French and know that they will stand and fight as much as us. Reggie, you say that we are "in the streets", welll the French have a proud history of "descend dans la rue" and when they hit the streets they do so in real numbers......and they don't trash other French people's property either.....only animals do that. |

Look at the "new French" children... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-lSfs332BU When they'll grow up, some (most ?) will say they're Muslim Algerians, not Republican French. And this identity conflict cannot lead to peace... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx66SwOd_Ww http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv9VF6XxGbg&feature=related "chances for France", the left said... |

guys to call him a wimp or soft is harsh, france really is in the thick of it, even more so than england, that country is just ruined, nothing can change that now, arabs, moroccans, aghans u name it its there, there out numbered like you wouldnt believe, honestly no bulls**t some places in france are real no go areas for whites, i see why sarkozy done this, its common sense because they will so obviously blow smething up if they dont get there own way. But i get why people think hes a soft touch, but hes just done it for the french peoples security. |
