They could have reported a lot worse. Time to learn from our mistakes, and move on! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1245700/Six-protesters-charged-clashes-English-Defence-League-demonstration.html |

It could have been worse but who was responsible for letting the UAF have a counter march at the same time as the properly organised demo by the EDL, if the OB hadn't let this happen the trouble wouldn't have started, the reporting on this was innacurate from the start yesterday there were 200 EDL today reported 1500 do the reporters even turn up at these events or just guess what happened, police prescence of 600 seems abit over the top |

The EDL needs to make the public aware of the insane policy of meeting in Wetherspoons as that is the root cause of the problem.Only a complete moron would ask people to meet in a pub a few hours before a demo that has the potenial to be explosive.Far better to meet on a carpark an hour before the demo and have an alcohol banning order in place.People can get pissed on the way home after the demo.

The publicity never has been and never will be very good though. Anyway, there's no such thing as bad publicity. (And the increase in members seems to prove that in this case.) |

One mistake is already evident - not a single sign of "black and white unite" taken by the camera . This can and must be amended. Had half of the signs held there carried multi racial messages it would have pulled the carpet under the MSM feet and this report would have shown EDL true face via the photo. I suggest that for the next demo at least 70% of the signs would carry a multi racial message. Edited by OutSider, Jan 25 2010, 02:57 AM.

Increase in numbers is generally good, unless what drew the newly wrrived is the impression the EDL is a good opportunity to arrange a fight. |

The UAF were no where near the EDL demo. Couldn't been seen or heard from where the EDL demo point was.(this was one of my pre demo concerns.) Myself and another lad also got out of the kettle early on and had a good old walk around hanley town center looking for them and couldn't find them and we was even asking people were they where and no one knew. The cold hard fact is lads there wanted to start on the ob no matter what. The only saving grace is the msm have not yet picked up on the damage to innocent peoples houses and cars. That was a f**kin disgrace and i guess every other true EDL support feels embarrassed (whether u were there or not) about this. It goes against everything i personally believe in. |

One idea the Countryside Alliance used on their demos is to have a good number of female stewards - they can often do a good job of calming down hot heads better than blokes. |
| Winston Churchill on Islam ; ' The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities - but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.... | |
