Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders goes on trial in Amsterdam on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, on charges related to his political campaign to stop and reverse the Islamisation of the Netherlands. The International Free Press Society has asked an array of legal experts, authors and journalists to reflect on this momentous event, and we present their comments below:

actually, this trail could be a very positive thing.

Not having much knowledge of the dutch leagla system, but if witness are called and asked questions under oath ... well... we might just see some major truths come to the fore which would open the islamic can of worms ...

I'd be very surprised if he is found guilty of anything .... HOWEVER ... can the dutch afford to have potentially the 'white mandela' in their prisons ...... intresting concept this ...... because geert is doing more or less what nelson mandela did .... and i feel this would be a massive coupt in favour of the anti eu brigade ....

Lets see how bias the BBC is on the reporting of what is a extremely important trial tbh ...

Yes, tomorrow is a win-win situation. Major publicity and hopefully national education of all that is evil about Islam (everything). If Geert's trial gets full-scale media attention then there will be a few more people joining the EDL! There's a dire lack of knowledge about Islam in this country. If more people knew what Islam truly was then I can assure you there'd be 500,000 members on this site, not 10,000.

If they jail Geert, he's a martyr and if they set him free, he's a hero. I just pray Geert wins the Dutch elections next year. It will be a monumentous moment for the anti-Jihad movement in Europe. Geert will ban the Koran, the Burka and most certainly close down mosques. Can you imagine the worldwide Muslim reaction?!? It's going to be a real turning point in so far as waking people up to Islam. If you thought the Danish cartoons caused some uproar, you aint seen nothing yet!! It's going to be civil war!!
