Young girls wearing headscarfs; Young girls wearing headscarfs

I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer to this.
I work in London and there are plenty of Muslims who wear the head scarf. As far as I am aware there is no compulsion to wear it at all but the reason I have been given is that they must hide their beauty and modesty.
Two question arise from that.
One. Do they think that all men are so lust crazed that they will jump on the nearest muslim who doesn't wear one. I feel kid of insulted by that assumption
Two. Why do I see very young girls, ranging from about four or five upwards wearing them. Why on earth do girls that young need to hide their modesty. They are kids for god's sake.
So can anyone enlighten me on this
Cheers
Shane

There is no minimum age for marriage in Islam. Muhammad himself expressed a marital interest in a crawling baby so I guess kids aren't kids where Sunnah is concerned. Best keep them covered up I say.

As a person of" mixed"race(hows that for PC) i can tell you, unfortunatly fundemental Islam is alive and well. And growing. As a concequence so is the BNP,action, reaction. They both concern me. The BNP have more then a few fair points but don,t they see the racist agenda is alianating many who may otherwise support them!

Shane, they wear it to make a political point - "look, there are so many of us - we are taking over!"

It's nothing to do with religion.

They'll soon realise that they ain't going to get there way though mate! :)

i saddens me to see young girls wearing a head scarf. BUT i dont really have a problem with this as many women in british society wear head scarfs. ok its a dieing practice nowadays but you still see the odd elderly white british woman wearing a head scarf.
as to veils and burkas, if i was to see a child dressed in this way i would not be able to stop myself pulling up the parents of the child and giving them a piece of my mind

old britsh ladies wear the scarf because 1. they've just had their hair set, or 2 they still have the setting rollers in, i remember my granny always putting the scarf on tied neatly under her chin to hold her hair in place after being in the hairdressers, something you dont see much now corner hairdressers full of old ladies haveing a blue rinse or a shampoo and set!
as for the lil muslim girls wearing scarfs, it does disturb me because they are saying you should not lust after my 4 year old, as if a decent person would want to lust after a child? but its in the extremists heads that its capable to do so cos that how they think- not in our society matey! unless yer a nonce paedo

King Arthur will return to protect the land, when it becomes under peril

Political correctness is the fertilizer for the field of extremist islamisization.

There are many moderate Muslims, but there is no such thing as a moderate Islam. [geert wilders]

EDL MESSAGE TO ISLAMIC TERRORIST-I LOVE THIS VID!especially him at 2:40 ladies?

Thanks for your views guys.
The young girls that I see wearing the scarf all seem to be Somali. Don't know why they seem to wear it more than others.
Another question about headscarfs is that I see many young muslim ladies wearing very decorative headscarfs but also wearing lots of make up. On top of that they wear very tight trousers which I would be more inclined to look at that a womans hair.
All seems a bit strange really

Like I say Shane, it's all political. Headscarfs aren't a sign of modesty, they're a statement saying "look at me, I'm a Muslim!"

gwenhwyfar i dont see a head scarf as hiding the child from our lustfull eyes. the head scarf is seen as many muslims as being modest and as that is part of the religion then i dont have a problem with them wearing it. many islamic women wear head scarfs with makeup
and my old aunt wore her head scarf every time she left the house fresh hair do or not. and what about nuns? they wear head scarfs as well.
i dont think the head scarf should be grouped along side burkas and veils

i have discussed this issue on another page and find that muslims say they wear them as to hide their hair because it is alluring but putting them on children as young as 4 and 5 is wrong in so many ways who would find a 5 year olds hair alluring its just sad really :)

Your spot with that.
I have only seen the headscarf on young muslim women grow in the past 10 years, never so any of them wear them in the 1980's.

The Burqa, the Chador, the Niqab and Hajib are all political statements. When I first moved to London in the early '90's I rarely saw a head-scarved muslim woman. Now I see them everyday. I see more and more burqa wearing women. It has absolutely nothing to do with modesty and everything to do with political and extremist islam.

It is true that Muslim men cannot control their lusts and so must find some way to reduce the temptation, Western men are by and large in control of their urges and lusts and so don't find a scantily clothed woman a problem or threat. I suspect also there is a large amount of misogeny with Muslim men concerning women and girls. It's about power and control also. And that is why it must be resisted.

In the west Western non-muslim women , mostly of an older generation now, wear head-scarves for a variety of reasons almost non of them religious. Nuns on the other hand are special. They are not made to wear it, it's part of the process of segregating themselves from the carnal world as wives of Christ (not that I agree with nuns - but that is another matter!). That nun's wear something akin to a burqa is obvious and serves as a religious statement. However, the habit is not meant for all women, but only for those taking the vows as a Nun. Which completely different from that imposed by Islam on women.
