UNBELIEVABLE. You may remeber the governments fanfare recently telling us how they're going to spend a measely £12M on white working class areas, well, according to The Department for International Development http://www.dfid.gov.uk/Media-Room/Press-releases/2009/New-schools-for-the-children-of-Pakistan-earthquake/ Did you see the "Notes to editors" at the bottom 1.DFID is providing £665 million of assistance to Pakistan from 2009 to 2013. By 2011, Pakistan will be the UK’s second largest development programme worldwide. It just goes to show the mountain uphill struggle we have, that in the last general election, 9 million people voted Labour, 8 million voted conservative and 5 million voted Lib Dem. An aside, al'queda live on the afghan/pakistan border, we're told by our political masters that they're trying to infiltrate Pakistan, so is this money to appease the Pakistani's so we can gain they're support against al'queda? This is absolute madness, the coonts in government are wasting our money fighting a war, its ALL about MONEY!! |

Just a thought, but why isn't Saudi Arabia giving money to Pakistan to rebuild the schools etc. I see they are still intent on spending millions in the uk building mosques and acquiring building land and businesses. Where are all the rich Islamic states (Here I mean states like , Saudi, UAE , Libya etc). Why are they not donating money. I thought they were supposed to pay a zakat - alms - for charities for just this sort of thing! |

We shouldn't actually be funding Pakistan at all, since they are on a continual war with our allies in India; and have expressed wishes to absorb Afghanistan to contribute to this conflict. I can bet you most of this money will go to funding the army, nuclear projects, or being secretly embezzled into Swiss Bank accounts. |

You've hit the nail on the head but I don't think quite in the way you meant. The Madrassas which have been churning out junior jihadi's from the AF/PAK border region were built with Saudi money and the theology taught in them was..*drum roll*...evil Wahabbism! The last f**king thing we want in Pakistan is Saudi's using their cash to make the problem even bigger. If DFID are paying for new schools they will have more chance of installing Pakistani Guardian reader types to run them. Result, fewer kids being turned into guided bombs. In that sense it is a good and sensible part of a wider hearts and minds strategy. We'll never kill them all so the trick is to try and turn off their tap of cannon fodder, or at least reduce it. What makes no bloody sense at all is that they are not applying the same strategy of subtly tackling the problem at it's root in our country. Cowardice, mendacity who knows the reason for it, but it is why the EDL exists.
Funding Jihad is an expensive business, they can't do everything. |

.....and yet we give £100,000 a year in "aid" to India, they have a space programme, we don't. What do 23 million voters see in the main 3 parties that we don't??? |

Is that £170B general upkeep? The £12m is for a specific cause, like the £800m. |

Al Queda infilterated Pakistan more than a decade ago.Their intelligence service, the ISI,is riddled with Al Queda sympathisers and they have passed on information to Bin Leden for years. The real problem country isn't Afghanistan at all,its always been Pakistan and its where most of the UK terrorists have been trained. |

Theres a real possibility Bin Liner is dead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnychOXj9Tg 2min 15 Bin Liner's been very quiet lately By the way, the American's came up with the name "al queda". "Al-Qaida, literally "the database", was originally the computer file of the thousands of mujahideen who were recruited and trained with help from the CIA to defeat the Russians". http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2005/jul/08/july7.development 8th paragraph. |

The name Al Qaeda means "The Base" not The Database and was the name given by Bin Laden to his first base area in the Pakita region of Afghanistan. You don't half talk some rubbish fella. |

Yes, i heard "the base" too I gave you a link to a former Labour ministers? comment that it was created by the US gov, i can get more evidence to state this. You tell me Bin Liner made it up, but with no evidence and accuse me of talking rubbish , do you not know the difference between quotation and statement? Why do you have to be insulting, don't you realise the media and newbies who aren't sure of the EDL cause will read that. Stop the attacks, hey. |

You've messed up the URL. But even if you didn't, people who don't use Facebook wouldn't be able to see it. You can upload it to an image hosting site like Photobucket, or your Sky Drive if you have an Hotmail or Windows Live account. |

You would hope these chaps would put a fair amount of cash in to help http://www.muslimaid.org/ But they only seem to help in Muslim countries during disasters (although they did send help to the New Orleans flooding but I heard 'selective' aid was given out). You would think that the rich Muslim countries would be the ones to pay the most, considering were plunging ourselves into more and more debt it is a kick in the teach when you see that on the list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_wealth_fund were not even in the list and giving more than most. |

Shucks, we're number 13 on the list. UAE is number one (and also repeats down the list, a long with many other islamic countries). |
