Only watched him once doing his stand up. Always thought some of his stuff was a bit below the belt. Can`t say I`d watch him again.

Technically speaking; it's his right to freedom of speech to joke/discuss anything he likes.

I think it would have softened the blow if he made a joke about Afghanistan, or muslims. Then again that kind of stuff gets media backlash as well. Same situation as usual.

i think it is a sad state of affairs when this gets more space in the papers etc, than hatred being preached by muslim extremists. I also think it was tongue in cheak, by a man who regularly visits injured soldiers and supports many charities. I agree it was in bad taste, but SLIGHT OVER REACTION BY THE MEDIA

Excuse my French folks but what an absolute wanker.
"Our ancestors took this land. They took it and made it and held it. We do not give up what our ancestors gave us. They came across the sea and they fought here, and they built here and they're buried here. This is our land, mixed with our blood, strengthened with our bone. Ours!"

Nations which go down fighting rise again, those who surrender tamely are finished

Theres close to the bone and theres close to the bone mate.
I dont think taking the piss out of war heroes with shattered bodies is particularly amusing, hey while hes on the subject why not have a go at the innocent little victims of those sick pedophiles im sure the families of those poor mites would be rolling around with laughter as they were when he made the paralympics jokes

That joke was Close to the bone But I have Laughed at Similarly Un-PC in the past and I would have Chuckled at that.

But.

In Hindsight that joke was always going to attract frowns and He has admitted He thought of it on the spot, if he had hindsight he wouldnt have said it. It was Funny but wrong Like watching someone fall down the stairs or seeing those Two Irish leprechaun pricks on the X-Factor. Cringe worthy, Morally debatable but Funny.

At the end of the day, saying it's a bit soon is cutting it, we still have soldiers out in Afghanistan/Iraq so in my personal opinion it shouldn't have been said, but I can see both sides of the argument.

I was discussing this with a freind yesterday and he told me that actually Jimmy Carr straight away as soon as he realised that it may have been offensive etc offered to go out and do some stand up comedy for our troops so hats off I say.

Yes he shouldn't have said it in the first place but more good is coming from this than bad so don't think we need to get to worked up about it.

i for one couldn't see what was so offensive about it, it is just true; they are some tough as nails lads who will probably end up doing paralympics type stuff and will be damn good at it. would like to hear what the ex-squaddies on here have to say though
