Why is it a bylaw to buy those highly expensive $100.00 NFL footballs. This my first year as an owner and when I went to Football America yesterday my jaw dropped. I bought 2 but is there an approved alternative? Also does it even matter to the players what ball we use. The way I see as long as its leather, right size and useable does it even matter. Or as a league can we get are own ECFA ball made that's cheaper or something, $100.00 per football is crazy. |

http://www.wizardsports.com/footballs.html $65 a ball and if a bunch of teams went in together, might even be cheaper |

We got our balls from Walmart online for $58.00 with no shipping cost to your store. They are perfect balls, nothing wrong with them. http://www.walmart.com/browse/Team-Sports-Football/_/N-5qpwZaq90Zaqce/Ne-2p4g?ic=48_0&ref=125872.267908&tab_value=35532_All&catNavId=4161&fromPageCatId=4161&catNavId=4161 |

Kinda hard to comment on this....but will try....since starting the Cannons in 2006 I have never really understood why it has to be the NFL game ball. Yes, I know the league follows NFL rules to a degree but looking at a budget standpoint when purchasing footballs your basically buying a ball that the NFL is still making money off of even on blem balls just becasue of the trademark. Looking at the MDFL they allow you to use either the NFL ball OR the J5V college ball. I guess the question is does the ball make the league? I have been contacted by others asking this same question....maybe it can be discussed at the upcoming meeting in Dec??? |

I think it should be a topic at the next meeting. Its a recession, and a penny saved is a penny spent somewhere else on the team. |

How many teams have already purchased their NFL balls? We have purchased 5 at $58.00 each, $290.00. |

Well I just bought 2 Duke balls from walmart, but that's just a temporary fix. Eventually there going to go back up in price and where do we go from there. |

I expect they will go up but they have been that price for at least a couple months now. I heard something somewhere about us using a "composite" ball, whatever that means. Obviously, I don't have tons of experience handling the different footballs, but would ya'll want to use a ball that wasn't leather? |

You got to stick to leather, and decide on one ball either the NFL or a college ball. My vote would be to stay with the NFL ball. @ $58 a ball your not gonna do that much better |

I would stick to the leather balls, but go away from the $100.00 Duke |

I never paid more than 64.00 for the Duke football but I did have to buy 6 to get that deal. You can usually find them anywhere from 60.00 to 85.00. Walmart's deal is the best I've seen. $58.00 a ball online.
