The Fateful Snowstorm Part 1 Arctus Tundra was five years old when something strange happened to him. The local scientists still don’t know how it happened. Arctus Tundra was just running around in the snow. Arctus’s mother was drinking some hot chocolate while watching her son. “Arctus be careful, sweet heart,” his mother said to him. Arctus just giggled and threw the snow in the air while his mother laughed. There was a phone ringing in the house and Arctus’s mother retreated in the house. You could hear the mother cursing minutes after the phone stopped ringing. Arctus’s mother ran outside quickly. “How could I have forgotten?” Arctus’s mother yelled as she ran to Arctus and picked him up. She kept running until she and Arctus ran to a large lab. When she got inside she saw the man of her dreams. “Hey handsome,” Arctus’s mom said to the man. The man turned around and smiled. “A little late aren’t we Ellen?” the man said. He turned to Arctus, “How’s my little guy?” “Daddy!” Arctus said. “Rick, I’m not too late,” Ellen said to her husband. “Of course not, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about,” Rick said. “The whole expedition team is sick but you, and I was wondering if you’d like to go on it yourself. I’ve been going over the reports and you have at least a week before the storm happens.” Ellen grinned; she finally got to do what she always wanted to do. “Thank you sweetheart,” Ellen said kissing her husband. Rick looked at Arctus. “If you want to take Arctus, you can,” Rick said. Ellen frowned and looked puzzled. “Is it safe?” Ellen asked concerned. Rick smiled and took out a spray bottle. “This is our new product, hot off the lab so to speak. If you spray this all over your body, the effects of the cold will be drastically reduced.” “Is it safe? And how long does it last?” Ellen asked even more concerned. “We’ve tested it over and over, and we have concluded it is safe under cold temperatures. We’ve also concluded that it should last for about ten days, I think you and Arctus are safe,” Rick said kissing Ellen again. Ellen decided that Arctus would be better off if she took him. After a few moments Ellen and Arctus were all set to go. A few hours past and Arctus started crying. “Mommy, it too cold,” Arctus screamed. Ellen took out the spray bottle and sprayed all over Arctus. “Nice and toasty” Arctus replied causing Ellen to laugh. After a couple of days she finally reached her destination, the cave of Waccini. Meanwhile at the lab an assistant ran up to Rick out of breath. “Sir- we-have-problems-weather-unexpected,” the man said. “What are you talking about?” Rick asked in confusion. At that moment a loud siren blared right through the lab. Rick and the man ran to the main computer room. When Rick saw the weather patterns on the screen, he dropped his clipboard. “Oh good lord,” Rick said in shock. |
