Contains spoilers!

This isn't much of a review, I know. More like a thread of cluttered thoughts.

I finished The Book Thief today, and my God was it amazing. The writing is poetic all throughout, sustaining a beautiful and pleasing tone. The imagery is great, the plot is fresh, and I loved the cast of characters; they all seemed thoroughly believable. It's set during World War Two, as many books are, but it gives a new viewpoint from an eleven-year-old girl. Although I did have issues with the bomb that wiped out Himmel Street and thus wiped out the main characters, it only added to my love for the story. The depth of emotion was incredible, unparallel. I sobbed when Leisel realized her love for Rudy and still never told him. When she found his body among the ashes, she kissed his snowy lips.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes reading. Even non-readers, such as my sister, will devour this book with pleasure.

Rudy, though, reminds me infinitely of J. Don't know why, so don't ask. Rudy was also my favorite character, which still remains a mystery.

I didn't read the review, but since it contains spoilers, why not put them in spoiler tags?

Finally, someone who has read the Book Thief, too!

I agree, it is an amazing book. I like the idea of Death being the narrator; it makes it more interesting and fresh.

I nearly cried at the end, and I'm not the type of person who cries about stories. Once, my mom and my sister were helping me find names for a couple of characters out of a phone book, and my mom suggested Rudy, and I thought about poor Rudy and almost cried again.

Poor Rudy. :'(
