Ya I have also been looking at the larger Corsair but it was around 180 and takes a 3cell. I picked this guy up for 60 bux shipped and came with 3 extra batteries. So for the price I couldn't beat it. Also I have a field that is surrounded by woods on 3 sides so it breaks up the wind a good bit. I just found also that Hobbycity has 160mah batteries for this thing at just under 2 dollars per battery. I priced it out and for 25-26 bux shipped I can have an extra 10 batteries and a charge lead so I can charge 6 at a time off my charger lol can't beat that. Depending on how this one goes I will probably pick up a larger one later down the road. |

So I got my DX5e on Thursday. Took it for a quick flight and was able to do a couple of circles and brought it back in. It was a little windy and it did make it a little unstable but nothing too bad as I practiced on the sim with wind and gusts. Took it out again yesterday to run a few batteries through it. First battery I went to do a barrel roll and once it was inverted I lost my alerion controls. It came crashing down from about 25 feet. Ouch. I was able to use the elevator to pull out of the dive a little but the nose still hit hard. What I found out was when it went invertered the control arm came out of the horn for the alerions. It pushed the prop in but other than that no damage. I was able to pull the prop back out slightly. The prop has a rubber insert that screws on to the shaft. After this anytime I made a really sharp banking turn or got inverted I lost alerion controls. So it took a couple of crashes but held up really well. I have added a dab of glue to the horn and the control arm to keep it in place. I have tested it by inverting the plane and moving the controls to be sure it all stays in place now. I will be taking it out tomorrow after work to test it out. |

I will get some pics of what I mentioned above tonight. After I posted that I decided to go ahead and take it out. Well it was pretty windy, would say 3-5mph with higher gusts. Not great conditions to fly but I did anyways lol. First 2 batteries went great than I got cocky. It was handling the wind well but I had use lots of little controls to keep it steady. Could see were a bigger plane would have not budged. But from flying the heli I handled it well and on the 3rd battery tried some inverted flights to test the glue holding the arm. Barrel roll, check...loop check...fly upside down for a period of time....check till a gust of wind hit it at a 90 degree angle. B/C I was upside down I couldn't correct it. The plane flew inverted into one of those metal cables that support telephone poles. Put a gash into the wing... Here is the pics after I have taped the wing back up. I cut out the damaged foam and then put scotch tape to reform the wing. Will test fix this afternoon. If not I will be buying a wing for 10 bux lol
