THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, KAT. ALL YOUR FAULT ;_; Cause this just needs to prove that Souzou would make a TERRIBLE father. But love his dumbshit son all the same :'D -- Responsibility Part 1 “Oh god…Suzuki ..I-I’m gonna… I’m gonna…,” Souzou mumbled, running his hand through her hair. “Hey Souzou, you’re spending a long time in that closet! Are you sure you’re alrigh-OH MY GOD!” Umeko opened the door before placing her hand over her mouth and dropping her glass. The noise alerted the couple, sending them immediate surprise. Souzou sputtered, eyes widened at the state he was caught in. “Umeko?! What the hell are you-AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHH!” From then on and for the rest of his life, Iago Casillas cursed women’s horribly painful habit of gritting their teeth whenever they were surprised. After a few quick apologies, Souzou and Suzuki left the bar after that situation, Umeko gave the woman Souzou’s address who insisted on dropping the inebriated captain back home. A few of the party goers snorted at the idea, Niran laughed and tried to force another bottle down the worried Fifth Division Captain’s throat. Souzou stumbled slightly; Suzuki held him close and smirked. -- “I will never marry you; I can never love you,” Souzou conceded, closing his eyes with hesitation of undressing, “Will you be fine with that?” He felt the hitch of uncertainty in her voice as she cut off her breath shortly after his question. She looked up at him, her blonde hair falling over her face in messy curls as her green eyes quickly looked away from his intense gaze. He swayed slightly under her weight as she clung onto his chest, the smell of alcohol reeking off of his breath didn’t affect her much. It was in this moment of pause that Souzou began to regret accepting this woman’s invitation to walk him home, knowing full well her intentions, and he also began to regret leaving the entire group early on a suspicious note. Niran would probably make a joke or two the next day, the others would scoff and ignore his usual attitude and pretend it never happened- yet, Umeko would subtly change her expression into one of disappointment and worry before going back to a polite attitude. There was just something about Umeko’s worried tone that made Souzou sadistically curious of her breaking point. “I don’t mind,” the girl’s voice brought him back from his day dreams brought him back to the situation at hand, “I’m fine with it.” Souzou chuckled while clumsily pulling off the material of his uniform, making sure the patch over his hole was still in tact, before grabbing the blonde and pulling her to the floor. They collapsed onto the futon in a messy heap as the captain began to pull away the woman’s clothing. “Don’t regret it,” he said simply, placing a small kiss on her collar bone, “Because I won’t be around in the morning to fix anything.” The blonde woman flinched, not from the contact but from the coldness of the words. He paused in his actions before sliding off of the woman and going through the cupboard for a second. Stumbling on his way there, he seemed used to the habit of getting up and walking there in an inebriated state. Souzou’s hands gliding over a few questionable items before producing a small packet. The blonde sat up and stared at him incredulously. “Glow in the dark?!” she said choking slightly on her words, shocked at his choice. “Hey!” Souzou reacted in a very offended manner, “Protection is protection, right?” The blonde snickered slightly at his actions, before he closed in on her again with a dark smirk. Putting the packet in her hand, he slid his arm behind her back and burying his face in her neck- getting adjusted to the flowery scent of her perfume mixed with the smell of the rustic bar they had just met at moments before. “Now,” he mumbled lazily, eyeing her over, “Where were we?” She was awake when the sun had barely come out, the sound of Souzou putting his clothes back on and mumbling a few forgotten sentences before leaving the room as quietly as possible. Lifting her torso off the floor, she felt for the blanket to protect her skin from the cold morning air and placed her hand in the warm area where the captain had been lying before. He probably never even slept, even while sleeping with her he was incapable of letting his entire guard down and kept his blade near to his reach. She winced as she tried to stand, licking her lips she sat on the floor for a few moments with her head lowered. She laughed slightly; at least he had been gentlemanly enough to warn her before about how lonely the morning would be. Not that it made it any less bitter. --- A week and a half had passed since that time, Souzou had already been doing into social withdrawal from the fact Niran was too busy with her actual last minute work to bother the arrancar captain. He paused short of a small office before grinning to himself with a sly expression. He hadn’t seen the Fifth Division captain in ages as she had been habitually locking herself up around the evening time and doing over extra paper work. He laughed to himself as he had already seen her running down the hallway due to the fact she had done the wrong pile of paperwork someone had left on her desk. Leaning in, cracking the door opened only slightly, he noticed the lump of black on the desk; Umeko’s hair was sprawled over the other side of the desk. Her head in her hands as a make-shift pillow with papers already scattered around her. He took in the sight for a moment, her expressing of exhaustion of sleeping which seemed entirely different from the polite and respectable lady she usually presented herself as. “Umeko~! Are you going to be busy this evening?” He called out loudly, causing the girl the lurch upwards suddenly. Wincing, she rubbed the back of her neck before glaring dully towards the man. “Souzou…,” she mumbled testily, “What’s the matter?” Ah, Souzou chuckled inwardly, it took the subtle sensitivity of the Captain Takechi to notice he had been slightly off his game as of recently. “I was just wondering… You seem exhausted and starving!” He managed, smirking as he approached the desk while the woman tried to smoothen out her hair. “That’s not a wonder, that’s a thought,” Umeko corrected, standing up to try and reach his gaze while fixing the papers into a proper order. Souzou sighed exasperatedly at her OCD tendencies and neat freak habits. “I’m actually rather lonely tonight,” he began, giving the bedroom eyes a whirl. Umeko refused to even look up at his face with her eyes closed, memorizing her desk’s organized state. “Why not go with the blonde woman from the bar a week ago?” she managed, unable to entirely hide the bitterness in her tone. “Ohhhh, You remembered, eh?” Souzou laughed, “If it makes you feel any better we just-,” He paused while taking in her expression, her eyes had raised entirely to look at him in the face while awaiting a response. He had seen her irritation for the day, Souzou smirked, and now he wondered what her elation would look like. “Actually, nothing happened, Absolutely nothing,” he finished, studying her perfectly. A small smile threatened her lips as the corner of her mouth twitched slightly. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh which resembled a hidden laugh- but Souzou could easily identify it as one of relief. “Actually,” she managed, “I was going to eat before I went home for prayers. You may join me if you wish.” Souzou jumped up at the table. “Is that an invitation, Umeko!?” Souzou’s eyes widened with a wide grin. The female captain sighed with a weakened smile. “It might as well be…” she concluded, putting the final pen in its orderly place. -- “Captain Arakaki!” a voice called out at the, the mumbling of the people in the restaurant managed to drown it out. Souzou winced. He grimaced, putting his head in his hands, before sighing loudly. Not after he had finally gotten Umeko in a good enough mood to actually invite him out, not after he had finally won a chance to put on a few more sexual harassment cases on this woman. Suzuki was seriously putting a hardcore wedge between his daily enjoyments- nightly one night stand should never mix unless they’re doing a repeat of what they do best. Which didn’t include public interaction. “I.. I need to talk to you,” she managed, Umeko twitched while looking away like a proper lady. She sighed before standing up and pulling her chair out, Souzou’s face fell at the captain’s reaction. “I’ll just leave you two to talk, It was an enjoyable dinner Captain Ara-,” before Umeko could finish her sentence, the nervous blonde broke. She put her hands around her, gripping her shoulders. “I’m so sorry, Captain Arakaki! I’m.. I’m pregnant!!” Suzuki managed, making the entire restaurant pause. Umeko stopped in her tracks by the chair, her eyes widened as shock was clearly written across her usually unexpressive façade. Souzou placed his sake glass down before shakily looking up at the woman with frowned eyebrows- unable to entirely believe her. “How do I know its mine?” Souzou asked, raising an eyebrow. “It HAS to be! You’re the only one I’ve been with recently! I mean, it was just a week or so ago-,” the blonde woman muttered, fidgeting lightly. “So you’re saying… that I’m a father?” Souzou sputtered, eyes entirely widened at the blonde woman’s words. Slowly, Suzuki nodded with a grim expression. Souzou failed to notice the growing hatred aura lingering around the dark haired captain, with her head bowed low and her shoulders shaking. Souzou wasn’t sure which shocked him more. The fact he COULD have a child or the sake bottle breaking on top of his head from Umeko’s wrath. He probably would never find out, due the fact he had passed out from both- except the bottle managed to cut into his forehead and left him with a rather nasty scab for a few weeks afterwards. LOLOL I WRITE ALL THIS FOR YOU. xD Besides, BWAHAHAHA. Souzou's son is so going to end up JUST. LIKE. HIM. Part 2 “It’s been five months,” Niran muttered at that arrancar, “Someone is GOING to find out you’re here, Souzou…” The arrancar laughed nervously before licking his lips. “Not unless you tell them?” he asked, taking another sip of the alcohol. Niran sighed. “You’re lucky I’m willing to cover for you, for this long,” she paused, “But you’re going to need to that the chick. Eventually.” Souzou tensed. “But… then I’d have to…,” he frowned, “Marry her! I barely know her!” Niran laughed. “You have a bun in the oven and it’s cooking,” she chided, “I think the time for formalities are wayyy overdue.” Mitsuru paused at the outside of the door; he sighed and rubbed his head. He had a feeling the missing captain had been hiding out with Niran. Scratching his head, he was considering walking away and pretending he didn’t hear anything and could just go about his merry way. That is, until the door opened wide and Souzou stood before the other captain which left the leaving sleeping dogs lying to be very difficult. “So… I guess I’ve been found out?” Souzou managed, closing his eyes. Mitsuru sighed, and nodded defeatedly. Niran shook her head and folded her arms. “You’re going to need to face this eventually, Souzou…” she managed, rolling her eyes. The arrancar captain paused before thanking Niran for allowing him to stay and leaving the house without another word. Mitsuru frowned at Niran who winced at his expression. “Its not my fault! He begged! At first I thought it was just going to be a few days,” Niran emphasized while waving her arms around, “Then he just STAYED.” Mitsuru sighed. “But now I doubt he’s going to stay here for any longer… that look in his eyes,” the Captain groaned, “It was terrified.” -- The following few months after, Suzuki gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The father was not present but the captains were- Niran held the son first and began to get giddy with names and getting a room organized. Already willing to throw a birthday party of the baby, Umeko took the child calmly before Niran dropped him in excitement. She paused and smiled at the child as the mother looked at the baby in Umeko’s arms. “Ryuuchi,” Suzuki managed. Umeko looked up. “His name….,” Suzuki nodded, “Arakaki Ryuuchi.” Umeko laughed slightly, muttering in her mind that he was going to need a Spanish name as well very soon. Admist the happiness, very few noticed the absence of the father- even the child seemed to not understand the missing man. Suzuki, unfortunately, understood it all too well. A year later, Suzuki remained in the house and Souzou had yet to return. -- “Hi. I'm so sorry.,” Souzou kept his head down, with his mocking voice, “Sorry to have kept you waiting.” Souzou had to admit to himself, seeing Umeko standing in the hallway of his home did excite him somewhat. Though, it had been an entire year since he had gone away. The mother of his child, who he had no idea on the gender just yet, was sleeping just inside where the captain of the fifth division stood. Her arms folded over her sleeping coat, the usual ponytail missing replaced by a plait hung over her shoulder and her glare never changed from the sharp scrutiny. “Not at all,” she began charmingly, “But you have to tell me where you've been.” Souzou was taken aback before grinning wryly. “Do I? I don't have to tell you,” he laughed with a ridiculing tone, “You know where I've been;I haven't been a reflection in your eyes,” But I've been living in your heart, he added on silently with slight amusement. “Are you asking me to kill you?” Umeko scoffed. “No, just kidding,” Souzou scratched the back of his head, “Actually, I've been wandering between reality and illusion....” Umeko smiled understandingly, sitting herself next to the arrancar. “How did you like it?” she asked, seriousness in her tone. Souzou lowered his gaze, his eyes focused farther away from the actual place where he was. The sound of the woman sleeping into the bedroom of his home was enough to make him shiver- the idea of commitment began to scare him even more. Worst yet, a commitment with a woman he barely knew the name of- far less of what she’s like. “I couldn't find any answer but I found a hill. There, the time doesn't pass by and the scenery goes by with the time. So when I found the beautiful windmill,…I woke up,” after finishing his symbolic expression he frowned. He was just as unable to figure out the meaning as anyone else. Yet, Umeko refused to waste time as she clasped her hands over each other in her lap and stared at him from her seat beside him. “So you plan on always running away from your responsibility?” she inquired, never taking her eyes off of his expression. Souzou laughed coyly while scratching his head. “Hey! You know more than anyone I’m not cut out to be anyone’s-,” he was cut off by Umeko’s sudden fallen façade. “I respected you more than that, Iago,” Umeko muttered. Souzou froze. “Umeko… you’re seriously not using that name on me right now,” he muttered, looking at the girl incredulously. “Souzou Arakaki is a fake, is he not?” Umeko lowered her head, “He doesn’t exist and he never will… Because Souzou Arakaki is the man that I actually respected as someone who wouldn’t run away and disappear for months on a woman who’s having his child!” she tried to keep her voice down, the whispered yell had enough emphasis of her anger towards him. Souzou winced before glaring at her. “Then you obviously never knew Souzou Arakaki,” he challenged, licking his lips. “No,” Umeko shook her head angrily, ‘I knew Souzou Arakaki.” She looked at him with such an expression that Souzou felt his heart break upon the meeting of their eyes. “I never knew Iago Casillas,” she concluded. This time Souzou’s breath hitched, Umeko’s expression had fallen into one which he hadn’t seen her don since the time with Fakhir. Since the time where she had almost abandoned her entire position- the time where she had almost lost herself like she had lost her brother in the same way. That expression which left Souzou remembered all the bloody events of the last fight and clinging to the hope that Umeko would manage to make her own order against her former Aizen ideals. The pure disappointment, hurt and disgust in Umeko’s expression was enough to make Souzou incapable of moving. “It’s a pity,” she managed, “Now I wonder if I know you at all…” “Tell me the time,” Souzou mumbled, looking at Umeko. The captain stared at him confusedly before looking at the sky and estimating. “Eleven,” she replied curtly, looking at the man for an answer as to why he would ask. “Do you wanna walk till twelve o'clock?” He asked, lightly smiling. Umeko frowned, looking over her shoulder towards the room where Suzuki had been sleeping in. The woman pregnant with Souzou’s child was only a few feet away from them- Umeko had far too much morals to ever go through it. Yet, lingering in her hesitation, she realized she was considering it. “What are you talking about? You'd better look at the reality of this situation,” she managed, looking at Souzou seriously before gazing off, “But...I think I can understand a little...just a little.” Souzou placed his forehead against Umeko’s shoulder. The girl tensed up against the sudden weight before finally relaxing and putting her hands on his shoulders as a form of comfort. She was never really capable of understanding how to comfort someone in such a situation- but she realized that physical contact seemed to work best with Souzou. She ran her fingers through is hair for a moment before realizing the situation herself, bringing herself back to the reality that Souzou screwed them up before anything. Now he had to deal with it. “Will you run away again, Souzou?” she asked, finally going back to his other name. The steady breathing away her neck and the heavy weight against her shoulder proved that the sleeping man wasn’t going to be going any where, anytime soon. |

This part... was making itself longer <_<;; Part 3 “Happy birthday to you! Ryuuchi!” Niran’s shout bellowed through the entire house. Souzou winced, being situated next to the girl, as she popped one of the party decorations near his ears. He didn’t mind so much when some of his streamers got caught in Suzuki’s blonde locks. The woman laughed tiredly while pulling them out, the three year old boy clapped his hands and had already dug his fingers into the small cake. “Ah! You can tell already he’s got Souzou’s genes,” Mitsuru laughed while shaking his head. Souzou snickered. “Yeah, he has serious attraction to the inside of the cake,” the innuendo Souzou present seemed to go unnoticed. Until he felt a familiar slap at the back of his head, Umeko folded her arms and glared at him from underneath the party streamers in her hair and face. “No crude comments on your child’s birthday! You dead beat parent!” Umeko chided, pulling the decorations out. The captain laughed as the woman leaned over and presented her gift to Ryuuchi in a well wrapped present, the others crowded around him while sharing the cake with their hands instead since the birthday boy had started the pattern. “I take offense, Umeko!” Souzou began playfully, “I think I’ve done a wonderful job of parenting!” Umeko slapped her hand over her face. “Does leaving your son in the middle of a park to go and drink at the bar good parenting?” “I was teaching him to remember his way home.” “How about when you beat him up for not catching the ball!?” “I gave him ice cream afterwards?” “The time Niran found him starving outside?” “Survival training.” Umeko slapped her hand over her face again at every one of Souzou’s excuses. Niran jumped up immediately as the sound of the rain began to pour outside. Ryuuchi seemed entirely excited by the sound and immediately jumped up and opened the door to run outside. Suzuki gasped before grabbing her son by the arm and pulling him back. “Ryuuchi! What do you think you’re doing?!” she demanded, slapping the boy’s arm. Ryuuchi winced as the spot became red. Souzou narrowed his eyes. “Don’t you think you’re being too hard on him, Suzuki?” Souzou asked, shrugging his shoulders. “No! He needs discipline!” she countered, “Not like you’re ever around to give it…” The tension in the room began to sink in as everyone seemed silenced by the comment. Niran was the first to break it by coughing rather loudly and making and excuse for her leaving, Umeko jumped in with her and asked if she needed assistance. They excused themselves immediately after, telling them good bye and wishing Ryuuchi a final happy birthday before leaving. Suzuki glared at her husband’s wistful eyes of the leaving group before turning back to her son staring at the mud in the garden longingly. “I… I’m going to get some milk,” she managed from her lips, Souzou nodded without really listening. “Don’t get wet,” he replied, returning back inside. Pulling her purse from the stand, she looked at the clock. Opening the door, Ryuuchi immediately ran out into the rain but she didn’t care. Suzuki frowned and wondered if they made her weak. She couldn’t stand the nights where she felt like a replacement for something else in Souzou’s mind, unable to stomach the idea that they were only together because of the child, her hate began to focus on the small boy. Gripping her fingers together, she scoffed and hoped to leave the house before she was tempted too harm him. Suzuki lowered her head, looking at her son playing in the mud, before stepping out of the house and never looking back. -- “It’s obvious your momma doesn’t love us anymore, Ryuu,” Souzou whined, taking another shot from the bottle. Ryuuchi fumbled his fingers against his green gi stared at his dead beat father with narrowed eyes while kicking his lefts in the gap between the chair and the ground. “Wha-a-t?” he asked, stressing on the ‘A’. “Over emphasizing, good boy,” Souzou nodded, patting his son’s head a few times. Souzou took another tug at the bottle, allowing the liquid to slosh against his throat with the effect he felt almost choked. “Never trust women, Ryuu,” Souzou grumbled, “Only- only trust those women who can never tell you the truth. Then, then you know you can never trust them! Its.. its STABLE. Con-consisterent.” Souzou’s obviously fumbled wording caused his son to frown, sitting beside him at the bar stool as people began to watch them incredulously. Lucky for the captain he hadn’t been wearing his robe, allowing him to blend in a lot more and save the embarrassment of his intoxicated state. The bar man paused to dial a few numbers before realizing a small struggle in the area Souzou was sitting. The bottle crashed on the floor, Ryuuchi was wiping his chin while crying as a dribble of the sake ran down his lips. He hiccupped while Souzou broke into a fit of giggles at his son’s state after attempting to force him to try some of the alcohol. “You- you little bitch,” Souzou snickered before swaying off his chair to try and hold the three year old, “S-So, kay. You’ll grow into it.” Ryuuchi continued to whine and cry against his father, the bar keeper cursed as a few of the prison officers arrived. Before anyone had time to react, more over the slowness of Souzou’s inebriated state, the captain had always been forced onto the counter and arms tied behind his back. He groaned at the pain as the other officer took hold of his child, he struggled against the chains violently. “HEY!” Souzou cried, slurring slightly, “THAT’S.. MY.. MY KID. MY KIDDO, MAN. WH-WHERE YOU-,” “Captain, please don’t make this any more embarrassing,” the officer muttered, keeping his head down while trying to lead the man away, “I don’t want to have to drag you away kicking and screaming for all these people to see…” Souzou struggled still, knocking his head against a post before complying while swaying unnaturally. The officer sighed as the other one held onto the crying child and following after them calmly, the scene was immediately muttered about even after Niran entered with Mitsuru on her arm while dragging him to pay for a few rounds. Niran paused as she noticed the heavy atmosphere, she frowned before walking up to the bar. “Whats the good, chief?” she asked, raising an eyebrow at everyone’s reactions, “What’s with the Happy Friday turning into Angsty-Wednesdays?” The bar man studied her for a moment before sighing. “Well…,” -- “Umeko! Umeko!” The rude sliding of her door caused Umeko to look up from her prayers, the candles around her family’s pictures were enough light to see Niran’s distraught expression through the darkness. “What is it.. Niran?” Umeko asked, frowning that this girl would drop a visit so suddenly. “Paperwork! I have.. I have no idea how to do it and to get it done in time!!” Niran began to make references and rants about things Umeko had no idea about .The woman sighed while rubbing her temple and standing up. “Slow down, Niran,” she put her hand on the girl’s shoulder, keeping the chest area of her sleeping clothes closed with her other hand, “What paperwork?” Niran swallowed nervously. “Prison…Parole paperwork,” she managed. Umeko sighed before chuckling. “Did you and Mitsuru have too wild a night- I’m not going to bail you guys out because of stupid-,” Umeko began, while shaking her head and walking back to put out the candles. “Its not for us!” Niran whined, “Its for Souzou and… and Ryuuchi!” Umeko froze, her eyes widened before turning slowly to face the girl whose expression was entirely serious. There wasn’t any trace of humor of joking in her movements or body actions and the woman cursed under her breath. Pulling her sleeves up, she pulled her hair out of its braid and immediately put it into its usual high ponytail. “Give me an hour,” Umeko managed, “I’ll just need to write faster than usual…But for the time being, you need to do something for me...” -- “Takechi-san?!” the officer gasped as he noticed the woman before the table, her eyes closed as she panted from the obvious running, “What- what are you doing here?! Do you know the time?! Its-,” “Captain of the Fifth Division, Takechi Umeko. My records and reports are spotless, therefore you have no authority to deny any requests I have of your assistance,” Umeko didn’t allow the man to finish as she opened her eyes and lifted herself to stand straight, “You should get all the necessary paper work in a few hours; the delivery must be slower than I. But its all the paper work needed to release Captain Arakaki and his son..” The man seemed taken aback as the woman’s messy appearance, she was still breathing unsteadily- as if she had run all the way there. Yet, the night Souzou and his child were required to still stay the night even after all the paperwork filed. “C-Captain Takechi, I don’t think we can just-,” the man tried to calm the girl down in a low voice. It was if something in the girl snapped. The usually calm, stoic captain slammed her hands roughly on the wooden table while sending a dangerous glare laced in venom towards the worker. He jumped back immediately, his breath getting caught in his throat as Umeko tightened her hands into fists on the wooden table. “Are you rejecting my request, Nameless Personnel?” she lowered her head from his gaze, her tone dangerously low. The man fumbled with his hands as he tried to find an answer. “What- no- I-,” he couldn’t correctly come up with an answer other than an affirmative. Umeko pursed her lips together; she calculated the situation before turning backwards and looking at the large man leaning against the wall watching. “Benkei!” she ordered, commanding the larger man to her presence. He seemed to jump up immediately like a dog caught on a leash to a loving owner and quickly approached Umeko’s side. He towered over both Umeko and the worker, his muscles showed definition as he folded his arms over his chest. His presence alone seemed to intimidate the people in the area as is heavy features put into a harsh scowl towards the worker caused him to almost make his heart stop. “Ah! Umeko-san, is there a problem?” he muttered, glaring at the man severely. Umeko brought her fingers to her lips before closing her eyes. “Apparently my position and family name is not enough to…sway this mere worker,” she looked up at him coyly, a small smirk on her lips, “Perhaps the Takahiro influence may, shake them slightly….” The man’s puppy doggish tendencies seemed to disappear immediately as he turned to the man in disgust, a battle aura already flaring. The worker began to shrink back and flinch. “What?! Do you know who this is? Who *I* am? You dare decline any of our orders-,” Benkei began already on a rant, his deep voice making the man cower. “I’m sorry Sir Takahiro! So very sorry!” the worker finally broke and got up, grabbing a few keys, “I’ll get the kid and his father out! Right away! Right away!” Umeko hid the demonic smirk behind her fingers before coughing and allowing her placid, satisfied smile to conquer over her feeling to laugh aloud. She bowed her torso towards the older man who scratched the back of his head with a nervous chuckle at her actions. “Thank you, Benkei, I am not sure I could have gotten this done without you…” Umeko admitted, lowering her gaze. Takahiro Benkei smirked before laughing nervously, a silly grin still over his face. “Anything for my fiancée,” he paused before licking his lips, “Arranged or not, my life is to make you comfortable and to see you smile…” Umeko flinched for a moment, it went unseen by the people in the room and she nodded politely. Gracing with her calm smile she bowed to him respectfully before going to greet Souzou and Ryuuchi as they were being released. Benkei watched Umeko’s figure retreat into the greeting room before turning on his heels and walking away. He had done all that she had asked of him, and he was glad he could deliver. The ridiculous grin plastered off his face had returned to a serious frown which caused him to look even older than he already was. The large man stepped out of the crowd for a bit and stopped just short of the bar where Umeko had so frantically run out from. He hadn’t exactly seen his arranged fiancée looked so entirely distraught before, her mask had disappeared as she questioned the people around to only find that the drunkard had taken his three year old son with him on one of his escapades. That was when she actually touched him so desperately, she clung to his arm and stared at him wide eyed and begged him to come with her to the police station before they wasted any time. It was the first time he felt any emotion from the girl at all. Benkei scoffed before ordering a drink inside and downed it with a bitter passion. -- “Do you have any idea what you put Niran and the others through when you pulled a stunt like that?!” Umeko threw her fit the moment they closed the door to Souzou’s home, the sun threatened to already rise and yet she was still there chastising him from the minute he walked out of the cell, “Did you even think for a second that your three year old son wouldn’t LIKE alcohol?!” Now, she was still following behind his walking and harping on the details, all the while twitching from sleep deprevation. “She’s not coming back, is she?” Souzou mumbled, stopping in his tracks. “What?” the captain was caught off guard, raising an eyebrow. “Suzuki… she isn’t going to come back for him, is she?” Souzou asked, hoping Umeko could properly answer him. Umeko lowered her gaze, unable to look at them. Ryuuchi gripped onto his pants leg, his eyes already watering with more tears. She looked away before opening her captain’s coat and fumbling on the shirt pocket before producing a long, thick red notebook. Pushing it forward, she didn’t look him in the fact and merely stared off to the right. “Take this list,” Umeko handed him the small booklet, “It has all the recipes necessary for healthy growth in a child. It takes into consideration the education, food, physical training and at what time you need to do what.” “Why… why do you have this list?” Souzou asked incredulously, flipping through the hand written notes with an insane speed. “My father had to make it when he was taking care of my brother… The Takechis are methodical family,” Umeko answered quietly, looking off, “I’ve always kept it around. It’s specifically for a boy so I guess it can be helpful. Guren was always… the best.” Souzou stared at Umeko’s body nature; her smile showed confidence yet the way her fingers trembled and fidgeted proved that her inner mental state was going haywire just mentioning her brother. He sighed slightly, unsure if to hit her and force it out of her or just accept it as usual and try to ignore it to allow her the idea that she was fooling him perfectly. “Anyway,” she broke the silence, “If I hear another case of Ryuuchi getting apprehended by the police for anything ever again- I’m taking from away and deeming you an unfit parent!” With her hands on her hips and her pristine glare, Souzou couldn’t help but chuckle at her small stature threatening him when he towered so much higher than her. “I’ll try my best?” Souzou inquired with a careless shrug. Umeko smiled. “I trust that you will,” with those words she placed her captain’s jacket over her uniform. Her captain’s robe was pulled it, but the same sound echoed through the room of her sword shifting. He tensed at it; Umeko placed her hand around it for support once more before bowing and exiting his home. The moment she left, he flinched and realized that Umeko was still addicted to the power of her family’s blade- even after the effects with Fakhir manipulating it, she refused to throw it away or lock it up. Ryuuchi tugged at his father’s pants leg, a frown on his lips as he pouted towards him. Souzou laughed at his expression while the mud was still in his blonde locks, his green eyes still managed to shower through the messiness of his appearance. Pulling him up into his arms, Souzou sighed before rumpling the boy’s hair and swaying him around slightly. “So, kiddo, want to tell daddy all about your jail time?” He asked with his face suddenly getting serious, “I hope no son of Iago Casillas dropped the soap in there.” Ryuuchi shot him a sideways glare before sputtering into giggles, imitating his father’s serious expression with the exception of a pouty lip which made him seem far less intimidating. Souzou grimaced at this attempt. “Oh man, we’ve going to have to work on your bad boy look-,” he began, shaking his head. The door swung open to present a rather exhausted Niran, sweat sticking to her clothes and shining down her forehead. In her arms were an assortment of gifts and a bag of groceries. Souzou blinked at Niran’s messy appearance before the rested all the items on the floor before giving Ryuuchi a big hug and throwing him around a bit. “Igotallthestuffyouneeded! Sorry! Can’tstaytotallyswampedwithwork!” she said in one quick breath, putting Ryuuchi back into Souzou’s arms and running back out the door, with the same speed she came. Souzou frowned. This was becoming more time consuming than he thought. He looked at Ryuuchi, then back at the groceries and finally at the note book and opened it to a page of recipes. “Guess it’s just you and me, Ryuu,” he smirked and shook his head, “No bar tonight… for a while at least.” [/i] Edited by Kusumita, Jan 25 2009, 12:46 AM.

Umeko wins at life, whereas Souzou wins through his failure as a parent. The scene with Umeko and Benkei was very well written. It was hilarious seeing Umeko (well, using Benkei) get her way...And, of course, it was little sad seeing Benkei get snubbed, but...my love for Umesou/Soumeko convinces me to look the other way. <3 Again, the juxtaposition of comedy and...well, not tragedy, but certainly seriousness is a great touch! |

This is more of a filler/bonding kind of part. But its needed to make the next part make sense <_< Part 4 “Please! It’ll just be for a day! I really have to get the work done and-,” Souzou begged, bowing his head lowly. Umeko frowned. “But, why me?!” “Because he likes you the most! He’ll actually listen to you!” “Ah! But- I- Well!” “You have the day off today don’t you!? No one else does and I’m way behind on the paper work-,” Umeko wasn’t objecting to the idea, she didn’t really consider herself entirely ready to take care of a child. Her hands shivered as Ryuuchi’s fingers locked with hers and she listened to Souzou’s fading ‘thanks’. Stepping inside Souzou’s home, she stared at the messiness before sighing. “I’ll clean things up a bit,” she muttered, “Don’t want the kid getting AIDS from god knows how in Souzou’s house…” Rolling up her sleeve, she noticed Ryuuchi giving her an odd look at her actions of cleaning on the floor. “Something wrong, Ryuuchi-kun?” Umeko asked, smiling at him sweetly. Ryuuchi pouted. “No other woman Daddy bring here ever does that…,” he mumbled, stalking off to the kitchen. She laughed slightly, realizing he developed an odd sulking habit from Souzou at such a young age already. -- “I had to clean up your dad’s room a bit, I hope he doesn’t mind,” Umeko asked Ryuuchi, heating up the wateri n the pot as she began to cut vegetables. Ryuuchi shook his head. “It’s fine, daddy has women in his room all the time!” he replied innocently. “Urk…,” Umeko’s hand slipped slightly and she failed to entirely cut the carrot. Ryuuchi didn’t notice her faulter and began to think. “Sometimes more than one…,” he concluded, earning a twitch from the captain. Umeko slammed the blade a little harder against the carrot to the point it was embedded in the wood. “Ha…. Does he now?” Umeko laughed slightly, attempting to keep the polite smile for the young boy. “Uwa! Umeko-neesan feels super scary!” Ryuuchi cowered slightly. Umeko coughed, calming her anger down to replace it with the same elegant serenity she kept up. Patting Ryuuchi on his head, she laughed and pulled the knife out of the wood. “Calm down, now! I’m not that scary now, am I?” Umeko asked, smiling at him sweetly, “How about we have some tea and cookies which it cooks?” Ryuuchi’s expression brightened as he nodded and proceeded to run to the table. Pulling out a few snacks, pushing past a few questionable products in the fridge, she managed to find enough for a decent cup of tea and some milk and cookies for Ryuuchi. Staring at the cheap products, Umeko couldn’t hold back her slight scoff as she reminded herself to write out a list for Souzou about the fact not every item is equal in quality as the more expensive ones. Settling down, Umeko smiled at Ryuuchi. “So tell me, anything new with you and your dad?” she asked, mixing the tea. “Sometimes I find these colorful balloons in Daddy’s room!” Ryuuchi enlightened as Umeko sipped at her tea while he munched on small cookies, “They’re all long and rubbery and sometimes really sticky-,” Umeko immediately spat out her tea and let the rest fall to the floor before covering her lips in shock at the boy’s words. Along with her reaction, she made a mental note to beat the shit out of Souzou the minute Ryuuchi was out of earshot. “No more stories, Ryuuchi!” Umeko interjected with a nervous laugh, cleaning up the tea. Ryuuchi pouted. “But I didn’t even tell you the one when Daddy gave these ladies some money when they pulled off their clothe-,” he stared, trying to remember more situations. “No more! I-,” “And the time daddy ran behind the ice cream truck and left me at school till seven-,” “-can’t believe all this-,” Umeko grimaced, unable to stop the child’s mouth. “Then the time daddy accidentally hit me too hard and I had to tell the teacher I ran into a door-,” “- oh god-,” Umeko winced, taken aback by the details. “And daddy got really mad when I tried to eat the jelly in the bottle by his bed. He said something about it being lub-,” “THAT’S ENOUGH!” Umeko finally shouted, trying to keep the redness of her embarrassment as secret as possible. Ryuuchi blinked innocently towards Umeko, whose hope immediately fell as she pulled the boy into a hug. Poor, poor child with the destiny of being raised singly by Souzou Arakaki; Umeko realized that she would have never wished this fate on her worst enemy. “H-How about I try to read you a story to put you to sleep, alright?” she suggested, standing up and realizing the sun was slowly setting. The boy beamed and nodded while trying to pull Umeko into his room to tuck him in. -- Souzou wasn’t sure how it came down to this- not that he minded in the slightest. He had to thank his son someday for the mere reason that he had defeated the demonic teacher. Umeko, like many other captains, never lowered their guards enough to fully sleep when others are present. They wouldn’t dare take the risk of letting go of their bodies and their control for rest. Yet, she was curled up beside the sleeping boy with a very steady and slow breathing. Her eyes closed, her arm lazily wrapped around his torso and an apron still tied around her front. “Mmm…,” Umeko mumbled slightly, a frown twitching on her face, “stop playing with that… it’s dangerous.” Souzou held back a chuckle, wondering if his son was so much trouble that Umeko was dreaming of the fact she was keeping him out of trouble. He leaned over, realizing the ultimate sexual harassment opportunity had sweetly presented itself in a vulnerable package. “Do you really think Ryuu being here would really stop me from-,” Souzou cut himself off as he noticed the kid snuggle more into Umeko’s arms. Groaning with irritation, he ran his hands through is hair while trying to deal with the greatest opportunity of his life sitting before him being wasted away. He stayed on the ground like this for a while, fidgeting while trying to find another way to occupy his time before drifting off to sleep himself- holding onto his son tight, this time not reeking of alcohol. Souzou admitted silently to himself, he could easily get used to this. -- Ryuuchi clung to the woman’s leg as she attempted to leave through the door, sending her collapsing against the wall for support. She laughed nervously while trying to shake him from her leg with very little luck. The boy continued to cling even after his blonde hair messed up and his green eyes watered with flowing tears. This kid was such a cry baby, Souzou noted to himself while coughing. “When I grow up I wanna marry someone like Umeko-neesan!” Ryuuchi finally declared. Umeko chuckled before patting his head and kissing his cheek. “That’d be a mistake, Ryuuchi-kun,” she mumbled sadly, “A very big mistake.” “I don’t think Umeko-neesan could ever be a mistake…,” Ryuuchi pouted once more, not realizing the hand on his head tense up. ‘Why won’t he look at me?!’ Umeko cried, throwing the small doll onto the ground. Warmth wrapped over the girl as she felt her brother hug her close. ‘It’s alright, Neko-chan,’ Guren mumbled to the crying girl, ‘Father says things out of anger. You’re not a mistake- the Dragon Eye takes time to develop…,” ‘I’ll never be a proper Takechi!’ ‘A life without… the Dragon Eye, is a life I’d much prefer,’ Guren spoke mysteriously, pressing his hand against his eye patch, ‘The Dragon Eye brings us nothing but pain… I hope you never achieve it…’ Umeko stumbled backwards from the child, her mask had fallen once more and the expression of the fearful woman was stricken across her face. Souzou was taken aback at Umeko’s sudden reaction before she grabbed her sword and roughly shoved him out of the way of the door. There was no polite goodbyes, no playing off smile, nothing of the sort that reminded him of the character Umeko tried to play. It wasn’t until he looked at the dumbstruck expression on his son’s face did he return to reality. “Umeko isn’t feeling very well, Ryuu,” Souzou tried to cover up with a laugh, “How about we just eat leftovers tonight, eh?” Ryuuchi nodding furiously and headed for the kitchen. -- “Iaaagooo-sammmmaaaa,” Curling his fingers into the sheets, the green haired arrancar threw his head back while licking at his fingers. Fakhir suppressed a small giggle while taking his damp fingers and tracing the scar along his chest to crotch lightly, he brought his hands back to his hair and violently pulled at it. “I missss you sooooo muchhh,” the arrancar whined, shoving some of the sheets into his mouth. “But I have to heal,” he sputtered, closing his eyes, “Give me- give me a fewwww more years, Iagoooo-sammma!” Edited by Kusumita, Jan 25 2009, 10:34 PM.
