Hahahaha, because that Bleach RP we did totally needs to get finished. Drabbles of it... it just as fun. Especially when they're pertaining to Souzou and Umeko.

Mainly Souzou BECAUSE HE'S JUST A SEXY BEAST ): LOL

Name: Hints
Characters: Umeko x Souzou
Rating: G

Taking a Hint

--

The thing was, Souzou genuinely enjoyed being flirtatious. And, yeah, part of that was because it contributed his ability to have ridiculous amounts of sex. But at the same, flirting just made things easier; on the battlefield it earned him fans and in the soul society is helped him gain favour and trust.

Flirting with Umeko Takechi was neither enjoyable nor easy. It was horrifically, agonizingly painful.

“Captain Umeko!” Souzou greeted, with absolute professionalism.

“Oh, hello, Captain Souzou.” Umeko had been sitting at her desk doing paperwork, but looked up when Souzou spoke.

“What are you doing here? We don’t have a mission coming up…” the woman trailed off, raising an eyebrow.

“I’m not here about a mission,” Souzou grinned before adding on cheekily, “or a fight…”

“Oh,” Umeko frowned. “Well, Niran---,”

“Nor am I looking for Niran-chan,” Souzou interrupted. “I am here, because certain parties indicated to me that I may have been too subtle with you.”

“Subtle?” Umeko’s forehead scrunched up further.

“I could not believe it either,” Souzou confided.

“Now, Umeko, I must ask you: why do you think I asked you out to lunch last week?”

“…Because you were hungry?” Umeko shrugged, confusion on her façade.

“Yes, that was true.” Souzou conceded. “But why else?”

“You wanted to seem like you had friends?” Umeko replied, with some befuddlement.

“Alright, new tact.” Souzou crossed his arms.

He studied the girl who seemed more wrapped up in paperwork once more.

“Why did I order for you upon our reaching the restaurant?” he interjected, causing her attention to shift back.

Umeko chuckled lowly.

“You think my voice is too soft. You told me as much,” she replied without much effort of thought.

“What about after? When I said you looked very adorable in your uniform?” Souzou began to grip the wood of the desk by now, becoming more and more desperate for something to hit her.

“What? This is a good color for me..,” Umeko looked down and inspected her clothes, as if assuming he was lying when he said it.

“And when I had that violinist serenade us?”

“Professional curiosity, I guess. No offense, but you kind of are a diva.”

“Alright, fine. Maybe I wasn’t direct enough at the restaurant…” Souzou said, ignoring the last bit, “But what about when I dropped you off. You have to remember that. Think, Umeko Think very careful. Why did I kiss you?!”

“You’re Souzou. More than likely it was from your obsession with Europeans,” Umeko shrugged, “No big deal.”

“You know damn well I can barely speak Spanish from Hueco Mundo!” Souzou twitched slightly as Umeko’s oblivious expression.

“Look, I don’t get where you’re going with this,” Umeko said, looking roughly half as frustrated as Souzou felt.

“Are we doing that banter thing? The one where you ask obvious, roundabout questions in order to bring me to a sudden… Oh. My. GOD!” Umeko’s eyes widened as her pen dropped.

“Did it work?’ Souzou asked, weakly.

“You’re trying to seduce me!” Umeko shrieked, pointing an accusing finger towards the arrancar with a terrified expression.

“Yes, yes! Exactly!” Souzou felt like he could cry.

“It’s Tuesday, Umeko! We should have been having filthy office sex by Monday…”

Umeko was silent for a long moment.

“Then, when you brought me those flowers…”

“Why would your fake plant need friends, Captain of the Fifth Division?” Souzou demanded. “What fake houseplant needs friends?!”

Umeko nodded her agreement, stood up and moved to the window, looking vaguely shell-shocked. It took a second, but she looked calm by the time she crossed the room and leaned against the front of her desk. Souzou watch her carefully the entire time.

Umeko crossed her arms. Then, leaned back. Slowly.

“So…Filthy office sex, huh?”

Because Iago isn’t in love. Truly, Madly; he declines.

--
Does it matter-? You wonder with a playful tone which sound sounds more confused. Tragically, she says, the humans will not make it for she was never strong. You don’t flinch, mentally you know better- and you chuckle under your breath. Does it seem strained? I wonder.

Tragically.

Ironic- the bruises you caused never brought such repercussions. Revolting at the fact she was not yours at the bitter end because you know- possession is so much stronger than love. Indeed, you possessed her. You controlled her. She was yours- and you hers….In your mind. Foolishness! You muster a cough, a anxious hack against your fist- white with gripping or complexion- you cannot tell. The sword wielder leaves- the light leaves- and you bear the cross in a silence mistake while your fingers stretch.

Remember her in her glory, a human Apollo which changed your expression even for a second. You wonder if, she would say, it matters how saucy you may act- your arms are so much colder than the floor.

You like the cold, you would reply; a bite on her neck and she was silenced by a burning sensation. You remember- no you recall with vivid colors and recollection. Remember sounds far too poetic- poetic enough to associate with love.

But you aren’t in love. How absurd. You aren’t in love. She has passed and you follow on your thoughts with present tense. You scoff and bring the glass to your lips- it never reaches the inside as your body seems almost listless. The glass tilts and red slips down your chin and stains your scarf- white and pure. Much like the memories of that night.

You pause before your lips part and you lick away the red- lingering along the parched skin. Yet, now the sides seem damp. A river is running and breaking the shores of a denying soul. You can’t cry for if that were the case then you would have to- to be in love.

You chuckle again, but this time its soft and the intake of breath is heavier.

It makes sense you wouldn’t cry- even though the wetness on your face proves worry-some- because you’re not in love.

Truly.

With those words, he sobs for which he mistakes to be laughter.

Guh I have so many more, I feel like such a sad case xD
Ah well, HERE'S MORE! Its actually a three part fic that I wanted to use to get into Umeko's character a little more and give Benkei more of of a back-story than to just further Umeko's character.

Part I

“Umeko, all you have to do is say the word and I will end the engagement- I understand that it must be a very difficult time for you,”

The man’s words brought little comfort to the girl as she sat there, elegant and stoic, with a placid smile on her façade of a false contentment as the insides of her mind was already rushing and murdering. She lowered her head, the looseness of her hair which had not been tied back fell over, and she simply brought her hand to her chest and caressed against the skin of her neck. There was a pause in her response which had Benkei on edge- in fact, everything he had said before was an entire bluff as he didn’t expect the girl to take so long to reply. He was Benkei Takahiro- heir to one of the most renowned families around- and the engagement to the Takechi family was simply arranged before the death of the elders.

Umeko, his fiancée, was the only one left in charge to make the decision if it should remain in place. He gripped his fists as his dark hair was held back tightly in a secure bun as his expression became hard with worry- was she really going to reject him then and there?

“Don’t shame the family, Umeko, we did this for the sake of your brother brother’s reputation- don’t screw this up.”

The words her father spoke to her on the night she was told her of engagement still haunted her memories. She brought her hand to her head before pushing back the right side of her hair from her face as she looked up to stare at Benkei with a serene expression. She chuckled slightly while closing her eyes- she was still intensely unable to look into the man’s eyes as she spoke.

“I see no problem in keeping it, Benkei-san,” she replied respectfully, “It was the words of my family so I shall continue to obey them.”

Beneki had wished for a more loving answer but the beautiful appearance she present pleased him enough. He nodded before laughing and slapping at his knees while crossing his legs horizontally made Umeko twitch slightly in a dislike for the way he was appearing so crude and disturbing in her home. Empty or no- her home still demanded the same respect as any other and Umeko merely looked away from him casually.

“For how long do you wish to wait, Umeko? I want everything to be perfect for you! Everything! You’ll have the finest of clothes and servants where you’ll never have to work again when you become my wonderful little wife- its quite an offer, if I do say so myself!” Benkei managed to ramble on about how great their life would be with their many kids and how terrific a mother she would be to always be home and care for them

“After I become captain,” spoke Umeko with her final answer.

“C-c-Captain?!” Benkei jumped back as he shrieked the position and stared at Umeko’s bandaged arm still in a sling, “You can’t wield a sword anymore with an arm like that! Its impossible! Absolutely impossible!”

“I studied it last night,” Umeko started before looking down at her injured arm.

“If I focus my energy into the nerves of my arm- it would be able to become strong enough to rejoin and work. It will take at least thirty percent of my energy and I’ll be working off of only seventy percent for actual living time- but it will be worth it. The only set backs is the fact I’ll get tired quicker, aches and pains and perhaps, if I fail, then the arm would be entirely useless.”

As she finished explain, Benkei watched the girl with a horrified expression before she closed her eyes. He couldn’t stop her- he could tell by the look on her face that Umeko was different to the other people going up for captains; she had a strange fire and determination as if her goal was something different entirely than to just achieve the position.

“What if you go into bankai?” Benkei finally asked, taking it all into consideration.

Umeko’s face fell darkly.

“My energy levels decrease even more- roughly to forty percent. But, I am naturally fast- forty percent to me is at least sixty to the average shinigami,” she claimed with her percentages and statistics which she was roughly making it up as she went along.

Benkei narrowed his eyes before lowering his head.

“No sooner and no later than after you become a captain, Umeko,” Benkei stated dangerously which caused Umeko to pause.

She knew very well that Benkei was no pushover. He had fought her brother and won which was a feat in itself and he was known for both his ego and his skill to back it up- a rather frightening combination. Umeko closed her eyes and nodded slowly as she confirmed it.

“I promise you my word”

--

“Takechi Umeko, are you seriously challenging me?” the man questioned, golden eyes narrowing dangerously towards the young girl in a black uniform, “A final year student with no proper training. Top of your class, yes, but lacking in experience I’m sure.”

Umeko paused and pressed her lips together tightly, she strengthened her grip on her blade as she felt a sudden rush of determination well up within her. She had to do this… she had to get this done and maybe the nightmares would stop and the man dressed in white wouldn’t violate her mind any longer. He wouldn’t whisper in her ear about heavens and revolution all the while smiling innocently and caressing her face while imprinting the image of a Captain’s robe around her body.

“One blow,” she spoke plainly, her dark eyes matching the intensity of the male Captain’s, “All I need to defeat you… is one strike.”

The man whistled in surprise at her proclamation as he scratched the back of his head and pulled against his blonde locks softly. Running his fingers through his hair, he slid his blade out from its sheath and allowed it to touch the ground at his side before tilting his head dangerously and gazing at her with a simplistic expression.

“Large words… for such a pretty girl but I fear I may have to take you seriously,” he muttered while looking around at the muttering crowd, “You picked this place- a mere hour into my Captainship- and I am sure you are intending to take my position.”

He chuckled slightly and closed his eyes.

“There are at least…two hundred people here, correct? So public for so many witnesses which can only mean this isn’t a burnt heart nor a vengeful action,” he caught her gaze sharply, “This is an attempt on my position.”

Umeko didn’t respond, the beautiful girl merely placed her hands at her sides limply as her expression strengthened and her sword’s sheath gleamed from the light above them.

“Come,” she replied curtly, closing her eyes and breathing in deeply before opening them slowly.

There was a sudden hush on the battlefield as the blonde Captain pressed his foot forward slightly, tilting his blade forward and coming into a forward stance of a properly trained warrior. There was a sudden and new tension settling over the grounds as Umeko failed to move a muscle against the position the Captain was taking. All that proved her battle readiness were the strange cat-like shaped pupils which appeared in her eyes with a tinge of red gleaming from them.

They were easy to miss if one wasn’t paying attention- Souzou paused slightly, looking at the girl’s eyes underneath her mane of black, and became immediately curious as to the outcome of this battle.

It happened in a mere second; the Captain had disappeared from sight and reappeared right behind Umeko’s figure. It was almost too fast a motion for anyone to see and the sound of Umeko’s unsheathed sword fell on deaf ears as the blonde’s swing made a large, echoing slice sing above the crowds. Yet, somehow, when the dust had cleared the image of the girl darting in the opposite direction with exact precision was left in the crowd’s minds. She swung her hands upwards and held the sheath in her mouth while her arm pulled the sword with a deafening sound before she twisted backwards to avoid another blow and then slammed the blade straight into the Captain’s abdomen.

It was almost as if she knew where he was going to hit.

The blonde man flew backwards, slamming onto the ground and finally coughed up blood as he collapsed into the dirt. Umeko stood in the same spot as she had stood before the battle and clenched her eyes as if suffering from pain for a moment before reopening them to the scene before her. Souzou noticed, as hidden by the crowd he was, that her dark eyes had returned and the pupils returned to a simple round shape.

Umeko slowly walked over to the Captain’s fallen figure as he attempted to stand once more- the powerful captain winced as Umeko slammed her foot straight onto his chest without no remorse nor holding back as he let out an embarrassing cry.

“You should have known better than to accept my challenge when you’re still recovering from your trip to Hueco Mundo,” she narrowed her eyes, “Ex-Captain of the Fifth Division.”

Gripping the coat from his shoulders, she slid it off his body and stood up as she narrowed her eyes against the dust flying along the wind. It was slightly bloodied and yet, Umeko slid it around her figure and looked to the crowd before lowering her head and upper body into a slight bow towards the people around who were slight shell-shocked at her actions.

“You were all witnesses today. The requirements have been met and I am your new Captain of the Fifth Division, Takechi Umeko, please be kind with me,” with that she raised her head with a shining smile, “I will do my best.”

Souzou shivered slightly, the intensity of the smile was strong… but not because of its genuine nature, but because of its smug victory hiding behind the mask of humbleness. It was unnerving to see someone act so well when they were relishing the defeat of their rival on the inside.

She walked away from the crowd slightly, waving at them calmly before turning the corner and breaking into a slight jog. It wasn’t that he was stalking her, but he had become entirely curious when he noticed her duck behind a corner of one of the buildings and quickly hid himself behind the wall while peering back. He jumped slightly at the sight of Umeko supporting herself against the wall, sweat running down her face as she clenched her exposed shoulder with agony written across her facial features.

She wasn’t struck during the battle and yet, he could see a faint image of a scar running down her arm- it seemed thin from far away yet she was clenching onto it as if she were ready to tear it off. Her lips were parted in pants as she sunk to the floor and lowered her head, and Souzou wasn’t entirely sure if the sounds escaping her were slight bits of laughter or heaving sobs as she kept her face hidden from passing view.

“Aizan…sama,” she muttered and tilted her head back and he could easily make out the stains of tears running down her face, “Will this… satisfy you, now? Will this… please you?”

Her expression twisted as she gripped her shoulder again and cried out sharply and lowered her head.

Souzou paused, not even knowing the girl very well, and stepped away. He could already tell he was witnessed something no one was allowed to see in the new Captain- yet he looked and studied the girl’s expression in his mind and couldn’t help but feel amazed. Turning away after etching the moment into his memory, he smiled to a passing girl and wrapped his arm over her shoulder and slinked away from the scene and poured himself at drink at the bar.

He held the cup in her hand and looked at the liquid as Suzuki paused and wrapped her arms around his arm.

“Something on your mind, Souzouuu?” she whispered sweetly, running her fingers through his hair.

He smirked and looked away.

“The only thing on my mind... is a gorgeous little girl,” he grinned at Suzuki as she smiled and hugged onto him even harder, all the while trying to ignore the image of the crying Captain in his mind as he spoke.
