Earth's New Champion

“Father, lend me your strength!” the Half Saiyan cried out before cupping those hands together. Aiden stood there, completely transfixed to the spot as he witnessed the sudden build of power between those collapsed palms. The swirling blue ki that began to grow in that center point was beyond massive. And if that didn’t just beat all? Another set of hands, mirroring the first, seemed to appear as if a ghostly image behind the first. The human squinted his eyes at the sight - trying his best to make out the tall orange and blue figure he thought he saw standing there with the Great Saiyaman. Was it him? Was it Goku? The energy that was gathered seemingly tripled in power now. What Gohan was able to produce paled in comparison to the actual combined effort of this second figure adding to the mix. The beam that was released from the two of them was - for a lack of a better term - epic in levels. It ripped across the field of combat and gave their target little to no chance to get away. Waking up in a sudden cold sweat, the human gasped for air. He looked around immediately as if trying to gather his surroundings but found confusion painting his face and the thoughts of a dream quickly fading from his mind. That image was burned so brightly there - such power was capable even if only through the combined efforts of another. It was horrifying. And it was exciting. If Aiden wasn’t already dead? No doubt he would have been. “Gohan… quite a character. It’s amazing how much potential the saiyan and human race have when put together,” he said through a whisper before sitting up in bed. He regretted such an action rather quickly, however, as the strain of such a move caused an immediate sensation of pain and throbbing across his midsection. His taunt stomach ached from both the bruises that littered his flesh. Even with two pieces of that senzu bean used up Aiden was certain he would need more time to recover. The healing effects of the bean were not as strong as a non-living entity and to make matters worse they were not intended for full recovery just to get banged up and used yet again. No, he definitely knew that he needed more time if he was to gain the strength of some of the former Z Fighters. Gohan was nice enough to grant him a new attire to commiserate their bout and all - he said that Aiden had the work of a real hero in him (not like saving the planet once already was enough, right?) - but Aiden did not feel like he deserved it. Not just yet. He slipped his feet from the bed sheets and placed them over the edge of his mattress before setting them upon the floor. Glancing back over his shoulder he noted Reina’s absence and pushed it from his mind. She was working hard - he knew that. No doubt she’d be back when she could. Her mind was elsewhere with the recent events involving both her father and her entire home planet. There was not much he could say to her at the moment - after all, he saved his own planet when it was in a similar situation. She was trapped here. Trapped in paradise. Irony reaches even the dead. She’d deal with it however she could and come to him if she needed the support. For now he had to keep his mind occupied with his own activities. A nice, relaxing shower was a good idea right about now. It would help get the sweat off of him as well as wash away the memories of that dream. The ease to his sore muscles was always a plus as well. God, Gohan was strong. He kept thinking about it. How did the guy managed to get that way? It must have been his father no doubt. Or did he have another helper? Aiden spent the rest of his morning lost in thought as he tried to relive the combat experience he had with Gohan the previous day. It was a tiring experience and one that left him with a lot of doubts in his own strength. Yet even when faced with such overwhelming odds (a critical on an Afterlife Kamehameha - that’s never, ever happening again) he still kept his ground and managed to bring Gohan down. True that the half saiyan was easily holding back and neither of them truly went to their full power (he knew about Gohan’s Mystic state and his own Super Human level was untouched) the accomplishment was one he would carry with him. Eventually finished with his morning exercises and various work outs he dressed and headed out to meet up with Krillin in his own slice of heaven. The formerly bald monk spent a lot of his time dotting on his family. He had a large line of females originating from him - his daughter, two granddaughters, three great grandaughters, seven great great grandaughters, and so on - so he as never hard to find. Lately Aiden had been spending a lot of time with the humans of old that have stood on the same field as others like Goku and Vegeta in order to learn. Today his thoughts were on one simple subject. “Where does Gohan put it all?” Krillin looked confused at first with the words and chuckled it away. “Yeah, those Saiyans sure do eat a lot. I know what you mean.” “No, no. That’s not what I mean. The way Gohan looks? He seems so… weak. Not to be mean or anything but he doesn’t come off as much of a fighter. He’s got that brainy appearance to him and you know he’s definitely not as hard pushed as his father or brother. So what gives? Where does all of this hidden power come from?” Aiden remarked. “Well, if you really want to know I wouldn’t exactly be the one to ask.” [ Word Count - 1,015 ] |

“If you really want to know the secrets behind Gohan and all of his strength I’d suggest asking the one who really got him started.” “You mean his dad, right?” “Nope.” The former monk rubbed under his nose and smirked. “You’d think that wouldn’t you? No, Gohan got his feet wet for the first time under the tutelage of… Piccolo.” ![]() Aiden had yet to meet the Namekian. Truth be told he did not have many decent experiences with the race. Piccolo was one of the ancient ones - back when they were asexual and all looked similar. The antenna and the pink blotches of flesh on their otherwise green skin still prominent in his appearance. More importantly he was also descended from the Dragon Clan that had created the dragon balls. You would think Aiden would have more interest in meeting the green man. However, he had heard that Piccolo could be quite rough on his… pupils. “DENDE!” Aiden heard the scream even before he spotted the two fighters. Moving toward a clearing in the midst of nowhere (which, by the way, existed quite often in Heaven - lot of room necessary for all the souls that came in) the haokiru practitioner came to a hovering stop in the middle of the air so that he could peer down at the source of the shouting. Piccolo stood there in all of his glory just as the stories had told. That white cape billowing out behind him and the weighted turban placed upon his bald head. His eyes were sharp and looked cold while his fangs were prominent when he spoke. He was tall and lean but his power could be sensed by even the most basic of fighters. This was the Namekian who had surpassed Super Saiyans. The one whose father was once half of the strongest Namekian that ever lived - the one whose name was long since lost. Intimidated? Sure. You could say that. Aiden began his descent in order to meet eye to eye with Piccolo but as he dropped he found a sudden beam headed his way. It blew through the air and bowled him right off of his feet. He lay there in the crater it created for several minutes, cursing his poor timing. “Your aim is still terrible. You need to focus more. Keep your attention pointed toward the finger tips before releasing the beam.” Dende, the Namekian man (no - he’s not a boy, he died later in his years and was a full grown man at the time), nodded his head before preparing another of Piccolo’s signature attacks. He paused half way, however, when he noticed the figure of Aiden where his off shot beam had just struck. “Oh no!” The younger Namekian quickly raced across the scene to where Aiden was laying. No surprise that the human was generally unharmed. After all, Aiden never went down easy. It just was his nature. Still the damage was enough to cause worry from Dende’s perspective so he was quick to use that healing technique of his in order to patch the human up. Piccolo arrived shortly after, a little annoyed. “You there. What do you think you’re doing? Trying to get yourself erased or something? You walked right into that!” So Piccolo had at least sensed Aiden’s arrival. Strange that he didn’t attempt to warn the human of the misfire. “At least you’re alright. What are you doing here? This is a private area for fighters,” the man barked. He seemed to come off as rather disgruntled from first appearances. No doubt Aiden would have to try to break through that. “I uh… I’m here in regards to a friend we share in common,” Aiden said. “Yeah, and who might that be?” Aiden merely reached behind him and withdrew a single device he had in his back pouch. It was a watch from initial glance and Piccolo definitely wasn’t picking up on just what it was the human was getting at. Shaking his heaed, Aiden walked forward and quickly slipped the device on Piccolo’s wrist. A quick press of the hidden button on the device was more than enough to get the job done. Almost immediately Piccolo would find himself dressed in the same outfit that Gohan had made famous in his heroic actions back on Earth ages ago. It was… all rather a blur after that for Aiden as no doubt the Namekian quite simply lost his cool. A lot of shouting occurred and it took both Dende and Aiden to finally hold the man down before he tore the whole place a part. Some time after he managed to get Piccolo to calm down the three of them would finally settle beside the small camp the Namekians had set up for their training days. Piccolo remained off to the side with his back to the others and his arms crossed smoothly over his chest while Dende was busy asking Aiden all about his actions back on Earth and his exploits vs. Emperor Foon. As the former Kami of Earth he was rather pleased to know there was still people standing up for it. “So let me get this straight,” Piccolo finally chirped in, “you want me to teach you how to be as strong as Gohan?” Aiden’s eyes turned from Dende to the other speaking now. He gulped a moment, feeling rather nervous. Then proceeded to nod. “Yeah, that’s right.” “You really sure you want to walk down this road? I guarantee it won’t be easy.” Aiden stood up from the spot he was sitting in, standing as tall as he could. Both hands were laid at his sides and his chest was puffed outward. “I’m not afraid.” “Fine. First step?” Piccolo whirled on the spot and launched an attack straight at Aiden. The blast caught him off guard and wound up sending him flying across the open plain before skidding across the ground and eating quite a bit of dirt and broken gravel. “Learn to dodge.” Piccolo’s aura flared out in a purple hue and his fangs peeked through his curled grin. He was going to enjoy putting Aiden through a lot of hardship if the human really thought he was ready for such a task. What had Aiden just signed up for?
