Day 1 of 2: 1,013 words

Once again we find our young (relatively) android heading into town to see what the day brings to him, having taken the time to meet up with Ryuudo and Aiden not too long ago, the events that would transpire from their plans would be widespread and if everything went according to plan, life altering. Proto had come through this part of town partly because he was looking for information regarding any other newcomers whose name he might recognize and partly because it was on the way to where he was heading anyway. Just where was he heading you asked? To the best place to search for information as well as the latest in technology, the capsule corporation building of course. There were a great deal of building in the area, but it became evident where the capsule corporations property began. They had a habit of designing and odd, ovoid shaped dome on top of most of their buildings and they kept plenty of space in between them, almost like keep separate division apart from one another. When it came time to enter the grounds there wasn’t even any security, just the opposite in fact. I was able to detect many people enjoying themselves on the grass, playing games, picnicking, even some people exercising. Whether or not they were employees or simple passersby I couldn’t say, but there was one thing that stood out, there was a massive power level to the rear of the complex. It reminded me of when I first sensed Goku’s power before our match. It was like he was actually powering down before hand, but such was not the case here. In fact, I wasn’t even able to identify just how strong the power level was, it easily exceeded the hundreds of thousands and it was in times like this I was certainly fortunate to have one of my many android advantages. You see, we androids cannot be sensed by the living, well you know what I mean given where we’re at. Despite the fact that proto was in heaven, there were still more than a few jerks who had managed to walk the line and get in and proto wanted nothing do with anyone like that, for all he knew that power level belonged to an invader. There were stories of several incidents in which the denizens of hell had managed to sneak into heaven to stage a surprise attack.

Focus Proto, you must stay on track. I swear Proto must be the most easily distracted android since number sixteen. It’s not so much that he has a short attention span, but rather that even a sudden input will send his mind reeling with thought, often times at the expense of whatever he was thinking about beforehand. On top of all that, proto had no idea which building he should start searching in first, at least he didn’t until a small explosion rocked the wall on a building to the west. In flash proto was on the scene, assessing structural damage and making sure there was no further danger from fires and the like. The only small fire that had been started was well under the control of a robotic safety unit with a fire extinguisher. “Please dear you mustn’t throw things in the lab; you know what could happen in here. I didn’t raise you to be so careless with science now did I? Meow.” Proto looked on in a frozen state of curiosity. The sight before him was one of the most unusual he had seen yet. There was an elderly man in glasses talking to an alarmingly busty, blue haired woman that I would assume is his daughter and unless I’m mistaken… no I’m correct, that’s a cat on his shoulder, meowing into the conversation and the man is actually acknowledging it. The woman offered no words in argument, only screamed in a guttural, muffled, teeth grinding growl and stomped off, knocking several items off of a table by the door as she left. I decided to approach the elderly man I the hopes of ascertaining where I was. It was a decent chance that he could at least point me in the right direction, he was dressed in a lab coat and there was scientific equipment all over the room. As he became aware of me he turned to greet me and I got a good look at his nametag, Dr. Briefs. Lo and behold, here I was in the presence of a cornerstone of modern science and that must make the blue haired woman his daughter, Bulma. “Why good morning there youngster!” (The clock said it was the middle of the afternoon) “You’ll have to forgive the mess, I had a slight accident while I was working on my… on my err… What was I working on today?” “Well from the looks of things this seems like some sort of prototype for a new kind of miniaturization technology.” Proto couldn’t help himself, there was electronics on the table and the doctor wasn’t doing much except mumbling to himself so proto stepped in to remind the poor fellow of what he was doing. “Ah yes, very good deduction my lad, you are quite right. I’ve been working on this for some time now and I think I’ve finally found a way to enhance the capsule corporation’s miniaturization technology to the point where we can transport much larger objects than ever before. Why I think I could fit this building into a capsule with a little work, though at this rate it won’t be ready for major testing on schedule. If only I could figure out what it is that’s bothering her then maybe she’d stop coming in here and throwing a fit every few hours.” And with that I heard the knock of opportunity. Besides the fact that a lot of people in heaven seem to need things done for them I thought to myself, perhaps I can help solve this riddle for him and garner a reward for myself. The game was afoot.

Day 2 of 2: 1,230 words

It took some time before the good doctor Briefs was able to bring me up to speed on the new miniaturization technology as some of the designs he made were misplaced about the lab. After hearing the explanation and going over the prototype model he had built, I was confident enough that I came up with a plan. I would use this new device to shrink myself down so that I might covertly spy on the chesty woman to ascertain the cause of her troubles and report back to doctor Briefs with the news. Now there is an upside and a downside to this plan. The upside is that the devices’ effects are only temporary, so I don’t need to worry about getting stuck as a one inch tall toy. The downside is that I’m working against the clock, I’ve just under an hour until I revert back and getting caught isn’t an option, I might end up like the good doctor’s laboratory wall.

Making my way around the complex was a bit difficult at first, but luckily for me, I was able to access the good doctor’s computer before my little transformation and track down a route to Bulma’s room. I figured it wouldn’t be a bad place to start looking and as it turns out, I was right again. Slipping in under the doorframe I heard what sounded like muffled crying coming from the bedroom. Peeking my head under the bedroom door I saw Bulma, teary eyed and talking on the phone to someone, though I couldn’t make out the other person’s half of the conversation. (Constant sobbing and crying) “I just can’t believe there was no one else. Of all the things that have happened recently I just can’t believe that they’d do something like this. I know it’s not on purpose, but still. Oh Yamcha, you’re the only one that remembered my birthday, you’re the only one that seems to care. Then again it’s always been like that hasn’t it… Thank you so much for listening to me; I feel like I don’t know what to do anymore. You know what, you’re right. I’m going to go out and take care of myself, maybe do a little shopping and I’m even going to wear the present you sent me. You always did know just what to say to make me feel better Yamcha, thanks again. You too, I’ll see you later, bye.” With that the woman began to get up and started undressing. I imagine it would have been more polite to leave immediately, but it was a strange feeling that came over me, seeing the female form like this for the first time. It quickly passed and I regained my composure as she got changed and opened a tiny box containing new earrings with what looked like a little wolf on each one. I almost panicked as she made her way to leave, forgetting for a moment that I was one inch tall can do that to you. She opened the door and went right past me, she seemed calmer than before but she was still noticeable upset.

I returned a bit earlier than anticipated, even had enough time to recount my findings to doctor Briefs and his cat (that’s still very unsettling by the way) before I returned to normal size. He became the closest thing to mortified I believe he was capable of. Not only had others apparently forgotten, but even he, her own father had been too wrapped up in his own endeavors to remember something so important. We wracked our brains for several minutes trying to figure out a way to fix what had happened. It wasn’t until the cat meowed into his ear that he exclaimed “Of course! We’ll throw her a surprise party when she comes back.” I simply stared at the two of them as they began hashing out the details of said party, totally oblivious to the fact that I was still in the room. “I tell you what professor, I’ll go round up some party guests of my own and when we get back, we’ll start fixing this place up for a big bash.” And with that, I bolted out of there and headed off towards king Kai’s planet to grab some familiar faces.
Fortunately for me, almost everybody was home today, which made thing a great deal easier. Even Goku was looking fit, a slight surprise given our recent match; then again I wouldn’t put anything past him. If even half the stories about him are true then I got lucky. I informed the group of the days’ events and there was a harsh, lecture like tone coming from a few of the females, at least there was until Gohan spoke up and brought up the valid point that none of them had remembered either. Once that was settled we packed up some food and headed off back to the lab. Surprisingly, the forgetful professor still had a great deal of sway within the corporation it seemed. Within the thirty or so minutes I was gone he had a temporary wall erected to cover the hole and even more food, as well as party favors, were being rolled in by the truckload. The group sprang into action, most of the men started hanging decorations and setting up party games (it helps when you can fly) and the ladies started directing the flow of food and making sure the men set everything up right. It was quite a sight to see these great legends of the past having orders barked to them, but it was working so who am I to judge. More and more people began coming in to help and everything was almost ready when the door slammed open and an irate Bulma got about two seconds into yelling before she realized what was going on. “SURPRISE!” everyone rang out in chorus. “Oh daddy.” She charged the man and hugged him tightly before moving around to make sure no one escaped her clutches. By the end of the night people had begun to leave and being the gracious woman she is, Bulma waited by the door to express her thanks to each one, as this was going on her father made his way over to me. “I can’t thank you enough for helping me figure all this out and helping me to put a smile on my little girl’s face. I even have a small gift to thank you for all your help.” He reached into his pocket but came out empty handed. “Now where did I put that? I could have sworn I set it aside just so I wouldn’t forget it.” It was then that I notice the cat that had been perched on his shoulder all day was holding a capsule in its paws. Looking straight at me the cat threw it to me, imagine my shock. “Ah yes, thank you for holding onto that for me. With my work back to being on schedule again we’ll have this new technology up in no time flat so I thought you could out one of our older models to good use.” Storing the tiny capsule in my waistband, I shook hands with the good doctor and even gave his cat a little scratch on the head. It sure was an interesting party.
