“You want me to do, what now?” Heaven was far from what Reina had imagined, perhaps the most amusing and yet exciting part was King Kai’s planet. At any given time she’d seen so many of the infamous Z-fighters there, doing what she had come there to do. Train… There were so many different places to visit in Heaven that Reina hadn’t really been sure where to start. Until she’d been volunteered for boring duty. “I just want you to tend to these beans. I have some things to do and I don’t have time to finish.” Reina was already beginning to realize she really really didn’t like this particular human. Yajirobe had been his name? Apparently, in the afterlife where you have nothing but time, Yajirobe was trying to thrust his duties onto the ‘newbie.’ That particular newbie just happened to be Reina as she had only arrived a few moments before and was already being hounded by people greeting her. Yajirobe had done his part to shoo her away from the others and set her to work. ”You realize you’re dead, yes? And that there’s really no where to go from here? What could you possibly not have time for?” Reina motioned to her halo and then his in turn. The dark haired man followed her finger, that same bored expression on his face. He knew as well as she did that the man was just lazy and would rather leave the work for someone else to deal with. What did he need to grow these things for anyways? It’s not like any of them actually needed to eat up here. Though she had a feeling many of them still did. “Just see to it that things get done, I’ll be back. See ya!” And he waved to her in a short fashion his form vanishing from sight. Reina cursed softly under her breath and turned to face the small square garden. Reina was left to her own devices then as the woman paced around the garden that had now suddenly been left to her care. The problem was Reina knew absolutely nothing when ti came to gardening. "You look confused." A man's voice startled her and Reina looked up from the rows of tiny plants to see a dark haired human standing not far away, waving at her. He approached her shortly thereafter, coming to stand beside the Saiyan female. They stood in awkward silence for a moment, and when Reina didn't respond the man continued. "Yajirobe leave you his dirty work?" "Is that the name of that fat sword wielding snake?" Reina said so suddenly the human jumped with a laugh. "It is. This isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened either. I think it's sort of his initiation test for those new to Heaven." The human knelt and admired the small plants, fingertips feeling the soil. "Why does he grow them?" Reina asked as she touched her chin/ She remembered these, she'd seen their healing properties work first hand. "It's not like anyone here needs them." "Do you plan to stay here forever?" "Do you?" Reina said in retort as she crossed her arms over her chest. "That's the plan." He said with a wink. "The Z warriors decided it was time for a much needed retirement. It was definitely time for a new set of heroes to emerge. I'm Yamcha." The man dusted off his hands and offered his to her in a friendly greeting. Reina eyed him but shook his hand regardless. "I'm Reina." She replied returning that hand to her side. "A Saiyan too. You're the first one we've seen in awhile. Especially a woman." It was obvious the man was trying not to gape at her. It seemed he, like most of the male species, had a weakness for women. Reina rolled her eyes. "Just means all of the others haven't gotten themselves killed like I have." But in the process Reina had unlocked something so much greater. To think she actually had something to thank the Maniacal Mechanical Menace for after all. The joy of that was the fact she could get stronger and come back. This was far from the end, instead this was only the very beginning. "Hello? Heaven to Reina? Anyone in there?" Yamcha waved a hand in front of the woman's face and she blinked, remembering wher she was. Reina sht him a glare of steel and the human withdrew his hand. "You could rival Vegeta with those eyes." He said with a shudder. "Vegeta?" He couldn't mean... "Your high and mighty Prince of all Saiyans, tamed by a woman. A human woman at that." Yamcha seemed near disbelief that Reina hadnt' jumped to the conclusion of who he meant. "I know who he is. I just didn't imagine he would be here." Reina touched her chin in thought. This was the afterlife, where else was there to go? "He was the greatest of our Prince's ancestors." "Of course he would be." Yamcha rolled his eyes now and ran a hand through his spikey dark hair. The scarred human bowed his head in defeat. The history seemed to come back to Reina and she chuckled realizing exactly who this human was. Yamcha shot her a look. "I remember you now." She raked her hair off of her forehead. "You were Bulma's little playmate until she met Vegeta. Weren't you." "Hey! We were in love!" "Did you love all the laides in your life at the time?" Yamcha went quiet and took a deep breath. "Alright, you got me there." There was no secret his infidelity. The stories had been written all over the history books after all in great detail. "So it sounds like you're going to need some help." He said after a moment. "Thankfully, I know a thing or two about growing senzu." With a new sense of pride, Yamcha moved around the garden and stooped to pick up a cnateen there. He frowned when he found it empty. "That lazy bastard. Well now we know why he left the job to you." He shook the empty canteen. "Let me guess. Senzu's take special water from some distant place that we have to travel to to retrieve." Reina frowned as she regarded him, setting her hands on her hips. "Something like that." He grabbed a large basin and tossed a second one to her. She caught it awkwardly and rested it on her hip. "You're coming with me?" "She asked with an arched brow as she watched him hoist the basin onto his back. "Unless you want to make two trips and try to find this place on your own." He turned towards her. Obviously it was going to tae two basins to water the entire little field of senzus. While Yamcha had nothing but time, Reina needed to hurry and get to training. she was needed back in the living world. When Reina didn't oppose he motioned for her to follow him and begrudgingly she did. ((1208)) Heaven was considerably different compared to what she had expected. The particular planet or region they were on was covered in lush green vegetation with high climbing mountains on the horizon. It reminded her of places on Earth she'd been able to visit but everything here wa so much more colorful. It was absolutely breath taking to her, something she committed to memory as a lifetime experience, or was it an after-lifetime experience? It certainly gave someone a completely different perspective on life though and death for that matter. Maybe being a good guy wasn't so bad after all. WHACK! Reina took a low hanging branch to the face suddenly and found herself landing on her rear, dazed. "Whoa! Sorry, forgot to yell heads up!" Yamcha backpeddled and reached down to hoist the woman back to her feet. Reina rubbed her forehead, a dark red mark swelling into view. "Hands. Off." She threatneed as Yamcha may hae held her a bit longer than he needed to. Yamcha lifted his hands defensively and stepped back from her. "My bad, my bad!" He said in defense as he trudged on, an annoyed Reina behind him. They walked in silence, ducking below low hanging branches and side stepping bushes. Wildlife could be heard chirping and buzzing this way and that which surprised the woman in a lot of ways. She'd imagined clouds and angels and cherubs, but definitely not leafy green forests and secret water sources. After a short incline, Yamcha pulled open the last few branches a white light shining through. Now that she was closer she could hear the water crashing so loudly it made her ears ring. Why hadn't she heard it before? WThey were standing at the top of a tall waterfall with water so blue it was cerulean. Reina stepped to the edge and looked down the long line of water. She was already dead, right? Reina reached back and leapt off the edge, letting herself fall the hundreds of feet into the water below. Water struck up in all directions and the Saiyan female vanished beneath the waves, only her floating empty basin left behind. ((1553 Words)) Edited by Reina, Jun 27 2009, 03:06 PM.

Reina had never been in water so clear before, and while the woman had had an incredible amount of stamina when it came to holding her breath in life, the fact she was dead and no longer needed to breathe only fascinated her more. "Hello? Anyone down there?" Yamcha floated slowly over the surface of the water before setting himself down onto the basin Reina had been holding. Reina broke the surface and smoothed her hair back against her scalp. Yamcha tapped his wrist where a watch normally would have been. "Thought you were in some big hurry? Don't you have some guy you're looking for?" Yamcha said with a groan. "Shut up. Let me enjoy my afterlife a little. He's not going anywhere." Truth was Reina wanted to find him. It wasnt' worry about whether or not he was ok, afterall he was dead, his state of being had progressed beyond ok, but to let him know she was there, maybe not alive and well, but there regardless. That and she wanted to see him, sonething she absolutely wasn't willing to admit. She wanted to tell him of her ascension. Reina had reached a completely new level of power. She couldn't remember hearing about another Super Saiyan, not anytime recent at least. "What is this place? And why do those senzy plants have to be watered with this water?" Reina asked after a moment of silence and she treaded water with ease. "There are healing properties in this water. Maybe not like the fountain of youth but it will cure any ailments." "You have ailments in Heaven? I mean, we're all sort of dead already...Can it get much worse?" Yamcha sighed as he hovered up off of that basin and touched down on the shore. Reina swam towards him dragging the pot behind her as she climbed out. Her ki slid along her body and dried her in an instant, like she'd never been in the water to begin with. She turned the basin over and set it under her arm. "So this is it then? We get this and go?" It seemed simple enough. Why the hell couldn't Yajirobe handle this? Yamcha shrugged his shoulder and made his way around the waterpool. "Even in the afterlife the man is a fat slob who only likes to eat. I swear his greatest achievement was cutting off Vegeta's tail." Reina remembered that story. Everyone was young and stupid once, but it was also proof everyone could be caught off guard. Yamcha stepped out onto a set of rocks beneath the cascading falls and reached out that basin to fill it with the water. It sprayed in all directions showering them both as he tried to keep himself stable beneath the weight. Reina was next and she pulled the lid off and filled the massive pitcher before capping it and stepping back, balancing it onto her shoulder. "Ready to go?" Yamcha asked as he secured it onto his back. Reina did the same, the vessel considerably heavier now. "I suppose. Can't we just Instant Transmission back?" She knew she could. Had the human ever learned how? "And miss the scenery?" He replied with more enthusiasm than he probably should have. Reina sighed as Yamcha set out in front of her, leading them off in the direction they came from. Sometime later... "Where are you leading us?" Reina called out to Yamcha who had moved farther away to 'scout ahead' as he'd said it. They'd been travelling twice as long as they had been before and Reina had seen the same set of trees at least three times now. She'd even scraped a little marker on a few trees to help guide them along. She was definitely tired of walking in circles. "I know it's this way, it has to be this way." Yamcha growled as he shouted back at her. "How long have you been in Heaven? How the hell could you get us lost?" Reina was at his side then with some quick movements that made Yamcha jump. "DON'T DO THAT!" He shouted taking a few steps away frmo her. "Do what?" Reina said innocently enough as she held her hands up defensively. "Sneak up on me like that." "Wait, wait, let me get this straight. You've been in Heaven with some of the most powerful fighters in the universe, and I was able to scare you? Were you actually useful to the Z fighters? Or the comic relief?" Yamcha shrugged his shoulders in defeat. "I could have let you do this on your own, you know." "And to think I would have been back by now too." There was a white blur in the trees suddenly as a figure swept down swinging from a branch Tarzan style as he scooped up the woman, her basin of water hitting the ground and rolling a few feet. She flew through the air, a large arm around her as they landed carefully on a low hanging branch some distance away. "Fear not!" The bold male voice made her instantly sick as she stepped back to look at the white suit clad 'hero' who had swept her away in an attempt to save her life. "I have rescued you from the dirty thief!" He straightened his tie a bit, winking at her through the white of his mask. Whoever had said being a good guy was a good thing needed to be shot. There was such a thing as 'too' heroic after all. "Who the hell are you?" Yamcha called out as he hovered up above the tree line, absent of his pitcher of water as well. "Back, evil man!" The white clad soldier cried as he reached a hand out to shoo the human away. Yamcha looked annoyed, Reina couldn't keep the laugh out of her eyes. Was this guy for real. "How could I be evil? We're in Heaven..." Yamcha shook his head as he crossed his arms over his chest. "You were leading this maiden away to take advantage of her in the thick of the woods. I'm on to you!" He pointed a gloved hand at Yamcha, intent in his hazel eyes. "I was not! I'm trying to help her!" Yamcha said in his defense. "Lies! All of it! I smell a rat in our midst and you sir, you are it! A duel! I propose a duel for the lady's hand." "For my what???" Warning lights went off in Reina's head just then as she took a few steps farther away on that branch. The desperado tweeked his mustache a bit and winked at her. "It would be an honor to fight for you, my dear." He bowed and took her hand. Reina's fingertips clenched around his and the bones strained under the weight of her grip. The man froze and looked up at her. Reina had closed the gap and was shaking her hand. "Let me set the record straight there Zorro. I'm not in need of rescuing, and if there's anyone you should be worried about it would be Yamcha there." "Hey! I'm right here." Reina ignored him and went on. "I suggest, you turn your ass around and go back to wherever you came from before I send you there in pieces." Her voice was very quiet and the man's hazel eyes looked from her hand now in the front of his suit up to her. "A lady with some fire. I like that." He winked at her again and it took all of Reina's inner strength not to hurl the man through the forest with all her might. That wouldn't have been very noble of her after all. She let the man go and he stumbled back a bit smoothing out the front of his not so pristine suit anymore. "I think there's been some sort of misunderstanding here then." He smoothed his jacket out a bit and set his arms to his sides looking from Reina who still looked rather intense to Yamcha who was covering his face to keep from laughing. "I think you're absolutely right..." The man in white bowed at his waist and gave the woman another winik. "Until we meet again!" And pulling his hat off in an elaborate display the man vanished from sight. Yamcha burst into laughter. "Are you sure you didn't want to go with him?" "Quiet..." "No, really, you guys would have made a cute couple." "Yamcha..." She shot him a death glare, the man went quiet for a moment looking from her to his hands then back to her again. "Imagine - Saving the wor---" Yamcha bent forward around the fist of Reina as she appeared in front of him and hit him center chest. The air rushed from his lungs as he fell backwards and to the ground below. "I may have deserved that..." "Enough wasting time. We're going back now." "Were you this lame in life too?" Another glare from Reina. Yamcha cringed openly as he picked himself back up and Reina set down beside him. The woman reached out and set a hand on his shoulder after the two of them had retrieved their pitchers of water, and vanished from sight. ((1500 Words)) |
