Miccah sat up in his bed and walked to the front door and made his way to the training grounds. He had gotten into a routine; heavy workout all day, a visit to the folks for dinner or tea, and a stop at The Bitter End to hear some old war stories before going to sleep and starting all over again. Now this sounds okay and it may seem like it is the best routine to have in this place, but the monogamy of it all was boring this half saiyan to tears. He was ready to find something new… Find something new? FIND SOMETHING NEW?! Why does he want to find something new? Shouldn’t he be finding a way out of this place so he can return home? The half saiyan had this epiphany on his way back from his parents’ place and on his way to the bar. A convenient place to discover that he had found himself finding his rhythm a little too comfortable. He needed to get out of there and make his way back to the world of the living so he may continue his journey. Surely, there is something fun to do there.

Miccah opened the door to The Bitter End, ordered a beer and sat in a booth with a few warrior friends from the arena training grounds. These guys had been there for at least two hours; they were pretty toasty. They were laughing at Miccah’s stupid jokes and were sharing their faceless and pointless battle stories. The half saiyan smiled and nodded and went through the motions. They sang old beer songs and partied the whole night. Miccah didn’t care about tomorrow’s training, because this was his last night on this planet.

Because in his merry party with his drinking buddies, he discovered that there is a point that looks up at Snake Way. Actually, it looks down on Snake Way, but from the planet, it’s looking up. Miccah would make his escape attempt once he left the bar. Well, maybe after he said good bye to his parents, but right now he was going to get completely wasted and party it up on his last night in Heaven…

The next morning, Miccah had found himself passed out on the table of the booth he was drinking in. Miccah had given in a little bit too much to the consumption. His head felt like there were nails being hammered into his temples; they were throbbing. So much for making his brilliant escape after partying it up one last time with his drinking buddies. The half saiyan slid off the table and landed on his wobbly feet and made his way for the door only to be stopped by the bartender pointing at the tab that he and his friends had piled up together. One expensive night, and awesome friends that left him the bill; ain’t that a bitch?

Oh well at least he can drop by Jarrett and Veronika’s place and thank them for everything they have done for him and he hopes it would be a long time before he sees them again.

Miccah sat across from his parents after explaining that he was making a break for it. Jarrett smiled proudly at his rebel son who can not be held down by the authority of King Yema. Veronika had a concerned look, she knew that this rumored Yema Lock was quite lethal, Miccah recognized her concern but explained that this was his choice and he did not care how lethal the Yema Lock was; it was not like Yema could kill Miccah, because he was already dead to begin with, and he can’t help but think it was time to return to the world of the living and continue living his life.

“Well, I understand, Miccah, but don’t get in over your head once you return. If something is proven to be too difficult, do not give it a second thought to run away;” his mother said in a doting voice; “and that’s coming from a saiyan, so you must know that you can not let your pride be your downfall. I’m sorry to say that you inherited the saiyan pride so it will be difficult to do this, but please, do your mother and father a favor and value your life more than your pride. As a saiyan, I can say it is not all it is cracked up to be. Take care, Miccah.”

Jarrett stood up and gave Miccah a pat on the back and laughed heartily. “That’s my boy. You have to roam free. You must show that you are tied down by no strings and you’re a wanderer. You go back to the world of the living and show those punks that they may be stronger, but you have more heart. I’ll see you off. Something tells me that you will be grateful that I did.”

Miccah nodded and father and son made their way toward the spot as the mother saw them off to the door. Jarrett was around the same height as Miccah; he was an inch or two taller. They both had the same colored hair and aside from the goatee that Jarrett had, they had similar facial features. They had the same eye color as well; it was no wonder they were related. Miccah was definitely Jarrett’s flesh and blood son.

The two men reached their destination and Miccah looked up to get a good look at Snake Way. He took a few warm up jumps and squatted down for his first jump for it. He jumped as high as he could and then kicked in his bukujutsu to carry him past the gravity; no luck. He was pulled down ten times faster than he normally would and he came to a crash at his father’s feet. Jarrett smiled and helped pick him back up.

“There’s a reason I offered to come with you, kiddo. I’m going to throw you up as high as I can, while you push off and jump, and then you kick in bukujutsu at the last second, it takes the power of two people to break through the gravity of this planet.

The father and son combination have prepared the grand plan that Jarrett had Miccah stand on his left palm as his right hand balanced the half saiyan and they counted to three. On three, Jarrett lifted and tossed his son up and Miccah pushed off his father’s palm. Jarrett was right he had gotten a lot further with the power of two off of the jump alone. After a few hundred feet, he felt the gravity pull on him and he began to kick in his bukujutsu in order to break the pull and crash into Snake Way. He pushed as the planet tried to pull him back down. Jarrett watched his son’s effort and smiled proudly.

Miccah’s muscles strained; his face felt like it was being split down the middle. He let out a scream in a last effort transforming and using the surge of energy to help him get through the gravity. It worked; he finally broke through and just like a rubber band snapping, Miccah flew out of control and crashed into Snake Way with a huge bang. After a few moments of shock, Miccah pulled himself out of a small crater and looked back up at King Kai’s planet. His father was but a speck anymore and he couldn’t tell whether he was waving good bye or not, but Miccah decided to give his father a farewell wave before he made his way back through Snake Way and back to his home. He was about ready to go but what he could do was kick in his special skill that he loves to use; Speed Demon, and make his way through Snake Way faster than he would normally.

He kicked in his ki and used it to speed himself up and then he made a beeline across the winding path and hopped from cross to cross. He skipped the winding entirely and made his way toward Yema’s checkpoint. It was going to be easy going until he got there. That’s where Miccah had to be sneaky.

Speed Demon was an amazing skill. Snake Way was nothing more than a blur to the half saiyan as he was blazing through with great haste passing by one or two worthy warriors on their way to King Kai’s planet. Miccah had learned all that he could. He was ready for something more. He was ready to see his friends again and catch up on all of the things he had missed. He was ready to get home and see Reina again; tease Biito; eat delicious foods with Buddy and get a rematch with Lowell (yes, the writer knows that the three quarters of those people are no longer with us, but Miccah does not, yeah?). It was about time for the prodigal son to return broken and defeated. He was about ready to finish this stop and move on with life.

Miccah was about halfway through Snake Way with that rant, but he was not there yet, so he picked up his pace and went twice as fast as he was going.

Miccah had now reached the halfway point and had to take a break. His energy was drained from using his skill, Speed Demon, too much. He sat at the edge and halked a loogie down into the clouds. Miccah couldn’t help but wonder what was below Snake Way. Perhaps he was spitting on a demon who was running around in Hell right now; serves him right. The half saiyan leaned back and rested on his hands and looked to his left and saw something that wasn’t there when he last came by on his way in; a tavern or a restaurant in the shape of a snake head. What’s more, a bunch of pretty hostesses were sitting outside the entrance in order to draw in the business. Miccah was impressed; for one thing, they’ve got a great location and no competition taking their customers away. After traveling halfway through Snake Way, one would want a break when they were traveling to King Kai’s planet. It would normally be pretty easy for Miccah, but he had been using his Speed Demon skill at four times its usual power. He stood up and walked to the entrance to be welcomed by hot women.

“Welcome, visitor. You are now under the care of Princess Snake. We shall nourish you and help you recharge your energy for the rest of your journey. Free of charge. Hehehe.” One hostess giggled as she took Miccah by the arm and led him inside.

Princess Snake, the woman in charge came and led the two to a booth and sat across from them and poured the sake for Miccah and his new hostess friend.

“Free of charge, eh?” Miccah asked as he looked as his glass of alcohol.

“That’s right. The galaxy’s heroes deserve nothing but the best, and free of charge is the least we could do. Right ladies?” Princess Snake said with an elegance about her. Her hostesses all replied in unison with a yes.

Miccah put his glass down and looked up at Princess Snake with a smile. “This reminds me of an old fable: The Ant and the Chrysalis. An Ant nimbly running about in the sunshine in search of food came across a Chrysalis that was very near its time of change. The Chrysalis moved its tail, and thus attracted the attention of the Ant, who then saw for the first time that it was alive. "Poor, pitiable animal!" cried the Ant disdainfully. "What a sad fate is yours! While I can run hither and thither, at my pleasure, and, if I wish, ascend the tallest tree, you lie imprisoned here in your shell, with power only to move a joint or two of your scaly tail." The Chrysalis heard all this, but did not try to make any reply. A few days after, when the Ant passed that way again, nothing but the shell remained. Wondering what had become of its contents, he felt himself suddenly shaded and fanned by the gorgeous wings of a beautiful Butterfly. "Behold in me," said the Butterfly, "your much-pitied friend! Boast now of your powers to run and climb as long as you can get me to listen." So saying, the Butterfly rose in the air, and, borne along and aloft on the summer breeze, was soon lost to the sight of the Ant forever.

The moral of this story is: ‘Appearances are deceptive.’" At this last moment, Miccah put his fingers over his forehead and teleported out of the building and back on Snake Way.

That was too suspicious; for one thing, there were girls that were hitting on Miccah; that doesn’t really happen. Then he finds out this was free of charge. No sir, no thank you. Miccah looked back and found that he was being chased by something coming from Princess Snake’s hostess club. Wait a minute. It wasn’t coming from the hostess club. It… it WAS the hostess club; and that hostess club was ACTUALLY a giant snake demon. It was time to make this escape faster. He kicked in his Speed Demon again and would make the distance so great that the demon snake wouldn’t catch up no matter how far it traveled. Besides, if it got to close to Yema’s checkpoint, Yema could have the demon snake destroyed. Miccah just had to get to the safety of the checkpoint. Finally, the snake was no where to be seen. The half saiyan deactivated his speed demon and moved at his normal speed in an attempt to regain his stamina. He was still making good time despite not using Speed Demon. Compared to how much he struggled on the way to King Kai’s planet, the way back was no problem at all.

It was then that Miccah noticed it; the start of Snake Way. Yes, the snake’s head was in view and the half saiyan let out a silent celebration as he leapt for it and pushed off it’s nose and made his way toward the entrance to Yema’s checkpoint.

The half saiyan snuck around avoiding being seen by the demon assistants and took a look around. He saw the staircase that he followed when he first arrived. The exit had to be through there somewhere. The main problem would be getting by Yema without him noticing, or to get by him and out of his range in a timely fashion. Miccah began to do some stretches; it seems that the half saiyan has already decided on how he was going to go about this ordeal. Really, if one thinks about it, Miccah only had one choice to begin with, and that was to get out of there with his speed. So, the half saiyan finally decided to make his break for it.

King Yema was just passing his boring judgments on a poor spirit cloud that was going to Hell when a blur ran by. He looked up and saw Miccah give the King a wink and a wave as he made his way out the entrance and down the stairway. King Yema winced and grinded his teeth as he started banging on his desk.

“MIIIIIIIIIIIICCAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! Guards! STOP HI- oh forget it… You guys want to go get high or something? Not like being on duty is going to prevent these people from getting out of this place. What is this world coming to? Even Miccah Eplin ran away from here. He was a good boy too…”

Miccah ran at full speed down the stairway pushing aside the soul clouds and found several tunnels that the souls were coming out of. Eeny, meenie, miney, moe. He picked a tunnel at random and dove in.
