She wasn't sure what had drawn her awake that night, but Reina awoke with a start, sitting up quite suddenly as the darkness of the room bore down on her, and she felt the last traces of the nightmare fade beneath the curtain of consciousness. She couldn't remember what had driven her heart to race and her breathing to come in deep pants, but she threw back the blankets that covered her form and turned, resting those feet down on the cool tiled floor. She could hear Biito's quiet breathing behind her, and that gave her the smallest amount of comfort. This after all was not the first tine she'd awakened with a start, and she was pleased the male still slept. Reina slid her hands down the silk slip she'd worn to sleep that night, shiny and metallic in color. Habit drew her to rub that left shoulder where tissue met mechanics and to her relief, it didn't ache. It was one of those rare moments, and she enjoyed the momentary ease. Reina stood up as she paced through the darkness of the room they shared and pulled on the long robe that lay draped over the edge of the small dresser in that room. She couldn't remember putting it there when she'd gone to sleep, but it didn't seen to concern her as she same metallic colored garment was slid over her arms and she left it open. The wind of her movement carried the silk behind her like a billowing cloak, and she threw back the curtains to the patio that moved off of their bedroom. When had that gotten there? Reina stepped out into the chill of the night, and found herself stories above the city below. She could make out the arena in the distance, where she'd already fought twice. There were dim lights far below reminding her that on this planet, in this city, the people never slept. She leaned over the railing and glanced the length of the way down, the updraft catching her free falling raven locks and sending them spiraling upwards like a halo. Everything seemed so far away down there. She hadn't remembered their room being so high up...and despite the fact she knew she could fly, it made her heart racing, knowing she could simply lean over and fall so far below. Reina had never been afraid of heights, it seemed perhaps this was an odd moment or the female Saiyan. Overhead, she could hear rumbling and it drew her eyes skyward where the clear sky suddenly drew cloud cover, and the twinkling stars vanished under the fury that was unleashed. Reina watched as the rolling storm clouds lit up with lightning, followed by another much closer rumble. The night air grew damp with the first scent of rain. There was nothing but sky and clouds, and darkness all around her. She closed her eyes as she could hear the first droplets of rain fall the to the earth. It was quite serene indeed. Reina could remember being young, and standing out on the balcony near her parent's room much like this and watching in silence as the heavens opened up its arms and poured life to the world. Footsteps behind her. Reina could sense Biito nearby and she didn't look back at him. He didn't say anything, but she could feel him pause not far from her. "Go back to bed, it's late." Her voice seemed so distant, distant enough she opened her eyes and wondered if she'd spoken at all. "I'll be in in a minute." |

[No EXP for anything in this thread] A terror of tremendous proportions crept up her spine and rocked her body with shivers of impending doom, but she could not understand why. The sweet, tainted water droplets from the heavens and the scenic lighting below were such a beauty to behold, and her trusted companion was near her side and yet she felt like the four horsemen of the apocalypse were riding through those clouds to claim her. Perfection corrupted by an unexpected moment of dread would send the Saiyan's heart racing, blood pumping through her body . . . but it was a terrible, terrible feeling, like sawdust in the blood. The water from above changed . . . she wiped off a single bead of blood from her cheek. Was it her own? She wiped and tried to find the origin, but the clouds battered her with more of the blood droplets. Overwhelmed and surrounded by momentary horror, she could not help but look out over to the city and see it grow further . . . and further . . . and further away until the lights were nothing but little blips like fireflies. Equilibrium would be thrown off completely and she'd panic, abandoning all logic that she could simply fly at a moments notice and the impact would be bearable for someone like her. That simply didn't matter! She didn't even know that. She wasn't sure of that anymore, she was vulnerable and weak, not a Saiyan warrior. Not to her anymore. She needed to escape, she needed to get out of there and escape back into the comfort of her suite. But comfort would not be found as the bionic woman would spin herself around and find everything different from how she left it. The lighting? Low-key and unbelievable, coming from everywhere and nowhere at once, illuminating only the most specific of objects. The furniture? All but removed save for the bed which was one of the mentioned objects that would receive the devious touch of red tinted mood lighting. " He was lonely . . ., " The Android craned his neck, his back hunched forward and hands clasped together. " You sent him back to bed without his milk and cookies, so I brought them to him. " The impossibly long smirk would stretch further as a spotlight rained down from above to illuminate the Android's right foot which rested upon the busted open skull of the Saiyan Knight. Biito's mouth hung open and a spilled container of milk lay by his head, mixing with the still pooling blood. The milk was tainted! Poisoned! Reina didn't need any proof other than her mind was screaming it, he poisoned and killed . . . God, he killed Biito! As the bright light slowly dimmed on the corpse, the slightly open mouth seemed to whisper ' Help me ' to Reina, but was that all in her head? " Let's see . . . what makes you . . . tick. " Words dripped forth with equal parts malice and intrigue, but that wasn't the interesting part -- in a blink of an eye he had managed to move from the bed to an inch in front of Reina's face! Clown-like painted eyes, wide and lifeless, and the stretched out cheek muscles forming that hideous smile were so close to her, and she hadn't seen it coming. He had got so close, so quickly . . . and she was helpless to counter, she froze up! Why? Why did she feel so frightened by this figure? An attempt to fight or flee would meet with utter failure as her world shattered around her like pieces of a broken glass; a mirror. Reina would be tossed into an infinite void of ink and obsidian; and somehow there was a difference between those two descriptive words that she could perceive and yet not explain. Tumbling, tumbling, falling, falling through the void she would reach out and claw for anything, ripping at the void and revealing fabrics of memories and comforting thoughts. Articles of clothing with fond memories, childhood places and things that made up the facets of what it meant to be Reina would fall through the cracks in the void but there was something terrifying about them. Each one she would gaze at she would see nothing but his smile plastered on them, bastardizing them, ruining them forever. And then she would fall into the sea of ebony, the crash into the water cutting her like a knife. The raging torrents of water poured over her head and pushed her underneath the currents. The more effort she poured into breaking the surface, the more the water fought back. A hand would reach out for her . . . But not from above; from below. A look down into the abyss of the ebony sea would reveal the menacing machine smiling up at her with murderous intent, his hand wrapped around her ankle and tugging her down. And up and above the surface she saw hope in the form of another hand reaching out. Could she trust it? Was . . . was that Biito? Drowning . . . Drowning . . . Down . . . Down . . . Down . . . First there was fear... Reina could feel her heart stopping as she was forced back inside to avoid the bloody droplets that seemed to fall from the sky. She'd ducked in, her footsteps wavering back and forth as she felt a moment of nausia rush over her, throwing off her balance, and leaving her head spinning. Where was the ground? The sky? Where was the air she breathed? Her lungs were starved, and her stomach reeled but still there was little she could do but stumble and grab hold of whatever would stablize her. Then there was horror... The image of the haunting figure, and the lifeless form of Biito had sent an ache through her entire body. Helplessness, she'd been outside and here had he been murdered. Her body trembled as the realization brought tears to the woman's eyes and a scream of anguish from her lips. In a moment, her heart had shattered and she could do little more than cry and scream, and beg for it all to not be real. Then there was fury... He was there in her face, her lover's killer. The thing she had been meant to fight in the tournament and all she could feel when she looked at him was heated hatred that dripped from her every fiber of being. Fists clenched but despite her desire to lash out at him, there was nothing more she could do then tremble. Reina was stronger than this...Reina's strength was unprecedented, an in a moment she'd been reduced to little more than rubble. So she seethed inwardly trying to move her weary body to strike him, feeling heavy weights on her hands, her feet. She was broken, and lifeless, much like the corpse of Biito that lay on the bed. Then there was panic... The world melted away and Reina was falling, her body hitting the cold water and stinging every inch of her bare skin. She trembled, and coughed, and sputtered as the same weights that had kept her from attacking Rosencrantz, kept her from breaking the surface again. She completely forgot the incredible amount of time she was able to hold her breath, and on more than one occasion she opened her mouth to breathe only drawing in water. It was like swallowing knives, stabbing her from the inside out and she fought gallantly to find the surface. Where was it? Above her? Below her? She'd lost all sense of direction. Bubbles of air escaped her lungs when a hand reached out and seized her foot. She kicked, hard, harder than she'd thought she'd be able to, staring down at the gloved hand that was her greatest nightmare. And then there was her hope, within an arm's reach above her head, and she reached out to grasp the hand that she hoped was coming to save her. But she fell short, as deeper and deeper beneath the water she moved. Reina hunched down clawing at the hands that seized her foot, and she kicked, and writhed and wiggled the more that he pulled. She could free herself of this, because within the woman was the warrior. Within the warrior was her freedom, and the strength she would need to overcome it. I will not forget who I am. You can't take that away from me... Had she said that outloud? The voice of her conscious had rippled around her like an echo... |

The blackened watery grave would shimmer and ripple becoming clear once more and she could see the sunlight; her beacon of hope. Her fingertips only needed to breach the surface to end the drowning sensation that had overcome her, because she was no longer submerged. Reina would find herself in the middle of a forest, the sun shining through the canopies overhead. In the distance things were much, much different . . . On the other side of the woods was another nightmare waiting to happen. A stark contrast of black and white with no color to be found anywhere and nothing but dead, pathetic forms of plant life that could barely pass for trees at this stage. Meanwhile, in the blackness of it all she could make out the shape of that familiar smile and a white gloved hand beckoning her forward with a single finger. The Android's pant leg would break free from the shadows as it delivered a kick to something, sending it flying and rolling towards her feet. A severed head of a lover; how perfectly cliche . . . and yet fitting. Stuffed in his mouth, a note from the Cheshire cat: " Eat me! HA HA HAAAA!! " Thunder clouds rolled in, blotting out the sun. At lightning's first strike, Reina would find herself sitting at the end of a table of seemingly infinite length. The macabre table top decorations, chipped tea cups and a bunch of anthropomorphic forest critters sitting in their chair made up this Hellish version of Wonderland; Reina's Wonderland. " So . . . " The Hatter at the very end of the table, who was none other than Rosencrantz in a tall hat spoke. " You wanted a chat, Alice? " Every head at the table snapped around to face Reina like a domino effect until all of their sunken in eyes stared directly at her. The shadows played tricks, hiding their rotting hides from her until all that existed were their beady red eyes . . . and at the other end of the table was the Android, perfectly illuminated and smiling. " Is this what goes on in your head? Ohh . . . and people think I'm strange. " He lifted a cup of tea to his lips and drank deeply from it. " Oh, I need not look far for what scares you, because you wear that right on your sleeve. Ha HA HAAAAAA!! Your fear has a name. Speak it. " He waited patiently for a moment and then the frown gave way to a horrendous look of anger. The Android stood, the tea cup flying as he slammed his hands onto the table. "SPEAK IT! " You fear . . . fear. The words whispered in her head and the Android smiled. |

"This isn't real..." Reina's voice was the strongest it had been since this entire nightmare from hell had begun. Her hands were trembling and her body sat upright as she looked down at the twisted and ragged black dress she wore, her apron stained in blood. She was supposed to be some character from a human fairy tail her mother had often read to her when she was very little. Instead she felt like a tattered goddess of death and decay. "You're not real." She looked up at him, and the somber expression to her eyes only deepend, because she was quickly believing she was trapped by something greater than her own mind. Fingertips clenched on the small cup of ruby colored tea and she brought it between her hands hurling it across the table and into the seated crowd before her. Reina was on her feet then, her long bare legs chilled by the sudden cool breeze and she found herself looking down realizing the odd fishnet stockings she wore were ripped and tattered, her legs and hands stained in blood. It was unknown to her, this origin of crimson...Was she bleeding? "You won't use my fears against me." She couldn't lie to him and say nothing caused her fear, because the truth was she wasn't immune to the emotion. But here, in this place, she wasn't about to let him have the absolute control, not anymore at least. "Can a robot feel?" Her voice was all around them now, and the could feel the wind drawing breath across the table in a sudden gust of hot stale air. Her long dark strands were whipped back off of her neck as she gripped the edge of the table and with a sudden and forceful jerk she send it rolling sideways mowing over half of the patrons that was seated between she and the hatter. She moved through the now vacant spot that separated them, eyes narrowed, fists clenched. "Don't underestimate me. Because I know exactly what makes...you...tick." And she did. Reina knew the inner working of the android, had watched her mother build models just like him over and over again. She knew the locations, knew the circuits, knew what it meant to be alive but metal. She'd crafted the very arm she now brandished at her side, and suddenly realizing what little power he had over her, she felt that amazing strength returning to her. She wasn't the cowering woman, she didn't have to be in fear of him. She was Reina, the warrior from Vegeta. How could she have possibly forgotten all that she was in a moment like this. The scenery of the contorted and twisted Wonderland began to melt in the background, like ink sliding down walls in globs. It broke off into small streams and filling the valley around the pedestal where they all sat, quickly rising upwards as nothing but a bleak absence lay behind them. "You don't know the first thing about me. That I promise you." |

" Then why . . . am I here? " Two figures standing against the darkness; that's what they were. Their robes had returned to their original colors, an example being his meticulously crafted purple suit which he could not help but hold onto the lapels as he smiled into the Saiyan's fierce eyes. " Youuuuuuu . . . brought meeeeeeee . . . HERE! " He shouted, his finger pointing downwards . . . at what? The ground? There was no ground. " You shut your eyes at night telling yourself you're Reina: Warrior Princess, and you conjure me up into your nightmares. You brought me into your mind to cut and stab and twist the knife only to tell me you're not afraid, oh, but you're anything but fearless, aren't you, my sweet? " He flicked at one of her black locks and leaned in perhaps a little bit too close. Sure she could take him apart piece by piece, but had she? No. She hadn't. " Oh, this isn't about me, toots. Woo-hoo-hoo! Ohh, no! " He forcibly shoved her back and started inching towards her. " You're so much more fun than Buddy because you don't wear your emotions on your sleeve, do you? No . . . you lock them away, and you bring me here. What other creatures have you brought into your head at night, Reina? Hmm? What other fears lurk in the dark regions of your mind? . . . or am I truly the thing you fear most is hidden under your bed? " A smooth motion retrieved a blade from inside his jacket, the light glinting off of it. " Weak. You're weak . . . and tired . . . and pathetic, " He held the blade up beside his cheek, her reflection in the metal. " And I'm the boogieman you use to put a face to all your insecurities. GET IT?! GET IT?! HA HA HAAAAAAAAAA!! " |

Reina stared long and hard at her own reflection for a moment, as the words he uttered to her struck hard. She'd remembered words similar to it from her own father. She wasn't a stranger to the bite of cruelty, but as she looked at herself, she felt the reflection growing larger and larger until she was staring at herself face to face. She glanced down at that arm as the scar opened up and poured blood streaming down her arm dripping from her fingertips to the ground at her feet. Her reflection had the same look of horror. Was this manifestation of her own psyche right? Of course not. Reina clenched that left fist and smashed it into the mirror that had formed in front of her, and through the mirror stood the monster. She reached for that knife he held at his side, seizing it between bloody fingers and she swiped at him, cleanly across his neck in a moment of passion and rage. Shards of glass pierced her skin, buried deep beneath her spilling more of that blood to the floor around her feet. "I brought you here, to kill you. Your greatest nightmare? That will be me." She was screaming, her eyes wide as she stabbed at him again and again, each strike harder and fiercer than the last. She was gasping, her breath in loud howls of rage. "I brought you here to prove I'm stronger! Win or lose, I'll have only won. You are far from my worse fear." |

" AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAA!! " The chaotic laughter would continue to ring out even as the Saiyan warrior was upon him, ripping him limb from limb. Sparks flew and oil shot from severed tubes as if they were arteries pumping blood. Reina would become splattered by the viscous black liquid as she fought to break him into bits and pieces . . . shattering her fears. And yet there Rosencrantz stood in the shadows . . . watching as she ripped him apart to prove to herself she wasn't afraid. With a wide smile he watched as she bathed in his black blood, the look on her face reminding him of . . . well, himself after a hard earned kill. " Mmm . . . control, " Rosencrantz mused from the shadows, his words just background noise to her as she was drawn into the slaying. " You want it. I have it. And someday . . . you'll want it bad enough to be . . . " JUST Reina carved her way through the synthetic flesh, joyously. LIKE Peering up, her face covered in blood. The blade held tightly in her hand . . . her visage appearing satisfied in her murderous act. ME! A thunder clap came and lightning followed, illuminating her face to reveal the painted on smile that had become synonymous with Rosencrantz. Her lips stretched out to impossible lengths, mimicking his trademark. |

Reina awoke with a start, so fiercely she sat up, and the entire bed rocked under the sudden motion. She was still slashing at the darkness, her hand clenched around an imaginary blade that she jerked from side to side. It took her a moment to realize there was nothing there and she sat there for several moments just breathing, listening to the sound of her own lungs expanding with each exhale nearly a gasp. Her body was covered in sweat and she turned throwing the covers off, burying her face in her hands. A dream. A fucking dream... She wanted to scream...to burn off the emotions that surged through her body, yet all she could do was sit there, and tremble. It had felt so real, all of it, and now she had nothing but the remnants of a horrified laugh coming from her own lips to comfort her. What had this told her? It revealed to Reina a great deal about herself, inner turmoil, dark thoughts, thoughts she'd never imagined she could have. She'd spent so much time locking her feelings away, hiding them under the blanket of her sanity and never calling on them because it was safer for her that way. Why dwell on what didn't need to be? It was a part of herself that was safer for the world, despite the reality check the entire ordeal had brought. That's when she realized something was amiss in the room, and her eyes drew to her left. There at the foot of her bed was a small object. She'd almost not seen it at all in the darkness. Reaching out, she snatched the little object, shocked when it came back wet. It was a stuffed toy...One she recognized, one that Miccah had given her, and the identical one had gone to--- "Rosencrantz..." It was slashed and maimed and she instantly recognized the stench of the liquid as death...as blood. Which meant he'd been there... Which meant maybe the nightmare had more than a dream, but in some small way, possibly her reality. |
