[Give Exp only for this post, none for the rest. Give Masika EXP for every post. Set prior to Buddy challenging Rosencrantz.]

Masika had piloted her ship to Korin's tower to give Buddy a lift back to the island. Once there, they resettled back into the lodging set up for him.

On the fly back, Buddy was quiet, yet he seemed cheerful, relaxing in his the co-pilot's seat, reaching over to hold Masika's hand the entire way.

Once inside of the maid cleaned room, Buddy would heave deeply and would walk out onto the balcony to lean on the railing and gaze at the stars twinkling above. Crossing his legs behind him, he'd recall his dirty version of the constellations, and would chuckle quietly to himself.

But, that quickly faded. Something was on his mind.

"What's up?" Masika asked as she crossed her arms loosely over her chest, propping a hip against the doorframe after having followed Buddy through the freshly cleaned room. So, maybe they hadn't known each other for very long but it'd been long enough for Masi to know when something was going on in that head of his.

With a gentle nudge, she willed herself from her perch to shrink the distance between them, extending her arms to rest slender hands against the back of each of his shoulders. "Wanna talk about it?"

A sigh forced itself past the confines of her lips as she sidestepped to place herself beside him instead, folding her forearms over the same railing he did as she cast her gaze skyward, the slow swishing of her tail seeming to mimic the peaceful atmosphere.

Buddy peeked over his shoulder at her and would smile lightly. He'd look away from her though, Earth's champion feeling his very skin melt under her touch through the cover of his suit jacket. Once she positioned herself beside him, he'd lean close to her and would point at the sky. "See that star - and that one? That's me and you."

Buddy would lower his arm and grin her direction. "Getting it on."
He'd wink and nod in agreement with himself, moving an arm to reside around her waist. He'd go quiet immediately after his joke though, and would start chewing on his lip. He obviously did have something he wanted to talk about, but starting a conversation of this nature was pretty hard...

For a brief moment Masika smiled as she followed his pointing finger until she'd located what he was referring to.

Aaaaand it was gone. Just as quickly as the potentially sweet moment between them had come, it was ruined and she could only shake her head as she nudged him gently in the ribs with her elbow. One would think she would be used to this by now.

"Not if you keep that up." She said with a teasing grin as she lifted her own hand to wrap her fingers loosely about his wrist.

A turn of her head set her gaze upon his face and she couldn't help but to watch him expectantly. She could feel the tension hanging in the air and knew that there was something more on his mind than the dirty interpretations of star constellations.

`` So um... `` Buddy would start, licking his lips and swallowing in his throat. A shaky sigh would escape his body before he'd close his eyes. "I feel ... this... pull. Like, this huge just - pressure pulling me forward. Pulling me into doing something crazy."

He couldn't really describe it. He put his fist in front of his chest, and would bring it slowly outwards to illustrate this pull he spoke of.

"When I see people like Rosencrantz, I can't help but feel like, I have to do something about it... Like, I'm just supposed to, y'know?" Buddy would arch an eyebrow, hoping she knew the feeling. He know Masika wasn't one for heroics - simply staying her course seemed like her general plan to life. But, for Buddy's sake, maybe she could relate somehow.

Masika turned to face him fully when his voice finally shattered the brief silence that had fallen between them.

It was true. Masika wasn't entirely sure that she could relate. Maybe she could once, a long time ago but anything from that period of her life had been lost to time.

Still, she tried to comprehend. The only pull she'd ever felt had been that invisible force pulling her down the path of revenge. Maybe it was a similar feeling and so she nodded reluctantly.

"I...think I understand the feeling you're talking about." Probably not. Points for effort? She shook her head firmly as she again turned to lean herself against the railing.

"Why?"

"I really... have no idea." Buddy would start a laugh, but would cut it off, only to start shaking his head. He wouldn't turn to face her, instead, he'd fold his arms back over the railing. He'd drop his eyes to the distant woods, and even further out was the rolling sea.

"Nothing I've done in my life makes sense to where I am now. I was a lousy nobody, just some... guy who couldn't get his way through college, who just lied, gambled and tried to fake his way through everything... I never started working for Dr. T because I was the best at what I was doing, I was just the best he could get. Nothing makes sense anymore... nothing. I guess... hearing about how Dr. Bulma died kind of... changed me. This search for the dragonballs became... like, a search to find out who I really was."

Buddy would pause for a moment as he straightened up in his stance.

"I've figured out that... I'm strong now, because I'm supposed to be. I'm... I'm the good guy in all of this. I didn't believe it myself, but, damnit, I believe now. Heh. Me of all people..." He'd look to Masika with a small smirk, wondering if she thought he was crazy or something.
He'd turn to her then.

"I'm here to stop assholes like him from doing whatever the hell they want in this galaxy. When assholes are born, so are heroes. There's always opposites to everything right? So - maybe, just maybe, Rosencrantz and I were both brought here for a reason..."

Buddy would lower his head. He had something else to say, but he was sure Masika didn't want to hear it.

As she propped her elbow up on the railing and rested her chin within her palm, she allowed herself to tune in completely to the sound of Buddy's voice, though his tangent caused her to frown.

"Why this all of the sudden, Buddy?" She asked as she exhaled sharply. Maybe the victory was going to his head but whatever the case, he wasn't making any sense anymore. That or he had yet to reach his point, which was the part she feared. Was he looking for a pep talk? Well, that certainly wasn't her area of expertise but she could give it a go for Buddy's sake.

"As far as I'm aware, you haven't changed any since I met you the first time. That would have to mean that you had it in you the whole time, right? I wouldn't think about the past too much, there's nothing that can change it. You just kind of deal with it and go on. There's good and bad in everything, some have more of one than the other. I don't know much about the Rosencrantz fellow but there will always be bad people in the world, Buddy. Without bad things no one would appreciate the good things."

"How much damage has he caused already Masika? How many families has he ruined? How many more people's lives does he plan on destroying? No - sorry sweetheart, but I can't agree with you there. It's true, if everything was always ok, always sunny, we wouldn't value those days as much. But shit, that's what's the rain is for. If Rosencrantz is the rain, then I'm going to shine like the motherf***ing sun Masika."

Buddy would say in all kinds of seriousness. He'd lower his head for a moment, before leveling his eyes with hers.

"...One of us isn't leaving this island alive. The tournament doesn't mean a thing anymore. Knowing that the universe can rest without Rosencrantz running around to disrupt it is much more important to me now. He has two of the dragonballs - and I'm sure he's probably revived whoever he's had to by now. I know it. Rosencrantz had better party it up with whoever it is while he can. He has a fight coming to him the likes he's never seen..."

Buddy would turn from her to squeeze hold of the rail, his strength causing his fingers to sink into the metal. He tried to sigh off his pent up anger. He didn't like being upset. He always tried to calm himself down as quickly as possible.

Masika stiffened, her hands falling limply from the metal railing, only to sway to a stop at her sides. "A fight to the death. That's your plan?"

Those green eyes glazed over as they narrowed darkly, her gaze focused aimlessly downward as her hands curled into fists at her sides.

This was it. This was the abandonment that she had been waiting for. For the second time, he intended to leave her. Not that she had a lack of faith in his skill but that he would even consider it...

"So, it's like that then. You would risk it all to fight someone that has nothing to do with you. There's nothing important enough to you that might convince you to just let it go and live your own life. Why risk it for other people?!" She was yelling at this point but it mattered little. Let the whole building hear, let the whole world hear. "You would give up your life and...me...for people that don't give a damn about you!? Just like that, huh? You would really throw it all away for a bunch of strangers, a bunch of fools."

Masika shook her head in disgust as she turned her back toward Buddy, the slow shuffle of feet carrying her back toward the room and eventually the exit.

"Some people like the rain."
