How to get them

Weapons are rather simple. You can either buy them with zenny, quest for one or get one when you sign up, but keep in mind that the sign up weapon has to be basic. So, here is an example of what a weapon looks like.

Broadsword - A large sword that can be wielded easily with two hands made for cleaving enemies in half.
Durability: 500

All weapons start with a durability of 500, at least ones that you start with. You can purchase something much more powerful with more zenni or upgrade it with zenny. What does durability do? Well, good that you asked!

Durability

Durability is the strength of the weapon, or how much it can do damage or chop up things. Again, like all stats, it is just a basic generality and means really nothing other than if someone has 10,000 strength, a sword of 500 durability would be snapped like a twig. Just keep in mind when smashing a weapon in to someone how strong you are and how strong your weapon is, because it might not be able to withstand as much punishment as you are putting it through.

What I mean is someone fighting with a weapon with 1,000 durability smashes his sword with his full strength in to someone with a resilience of 2,000. The sword is gonna snap. Same goes for going head to head with someone's fist if they have a power of 2,000 and are able to get past the entire cutting thing. And the weapon can be upgraded and all.

To increase durability, it is 1 zenny per durability point. So, something with 2,000 durability cost, in total, 2,000 zenny. And a weapon with 1,000 durability already can be upgraded to have 2,000 durability for a mere 1,000 zenny. It's rather easy, isn't it? Now, before you go saying that someone could easily pour hundreds of thousands of zenny in to durability, let me ask you this. What good is a weapon that can't break if they totally suck when they use it and they are too weak to really hurt anyone with it?

So how do we improve our skill with it?

Weapon Skill

In the abilities list, you will find the following.

Weapon Skill (Lv 0) - A must for anyone who uses a weapon in battle. Until this is added on as an ability, a weapon can only be used as the most basic of any level

Without it, you can't have a weapon. Or, well, if you do you totally suck using it. Now, if you'll notice, it says level 0? Well, that's because no one masters a sword in a day, correct? Here at DBDA, we have a system for watching how someone has improved with a weapon.

Level 1 - 1
Level 2 - 2
Level 3 - 3
Level 4 - 4
Level 5 - 5
Level 6 - 6
Level 7 - 7
Level 8 - 8
Level 9 - 9
Level 10 - 10

The numbers you see are the amount of threads you have to use a weapon in to get your skill to improve. So, to get from level 0 to level 1, you need 1 thread, to get to level 2 from level 1, you need 2. See? Just keep an eye on how many threads you've done with your weapon and tell an admin or mod when they need to up it.

Wait... I thought this was free-form...

Yes, it is, however this system is there to prevent newbies from crashing heads with a veteran sword fighter and pulling off some bullshit about being able to beat him in a duel of swords. That does not mean someone with level 6 skill can not beat someone with level 8 skill.

I will say this once and only once. The levels are just to keep track of progress! They really mean nothing! If there is a significant difference in level, you winning isn't because of that. It's because your character has been using their weapon for so much longer that they are more experienced. It's mostly just a tracker to keep that on track. So, the skills aren't what make your character good with the sword, it is the dozens of experiences behind them.

And no, histories don't count because I can type out "He trained until he became a master" and it means just as much as if I typed out "He is respected and feared by all". I can post it, but it doesn't mean it's true.

Special Effects

Some weapons aren't normal in the least. For special effects such as spewing fire from your sword, talk to an admin about it and they will give you a cost in zenny or a grade needed in a quest to get said sword. It's as simple as that, we don't really have a set system as each case is different.

Repairs

Let's say that a sword is snapped in two or a knuckle is shattered. How do you repair it? Quite easily. You pay half the durability cost to get it all patched up. That's the other downside to pumping hundreds of thousands of zenny in to it. If it somehow does get broken, you've got a long time to get it repaired.

Weapons Level Info

The weapon you own may not be as strong as the fire breathing sword another member may have, Well that's because the weapons are arranged by a different class. Depending on how high the Class is, will tell you how strong the substance of the sword is and what type of things you can break, Just like your strength.

The only way to take break another weapon would be to have a weapon two classes higher. If during a battle against an opponents weapon who is two classes higher or more, there is a chance your sword may break within three to five posts. So if you want you can either upgrade the sword with Zenni or just fix it with Zenni within a modification. Ask an Admin for the price.

Weapon Classes

Weapons are arranged from the different Classes. From Efficient To Perfect.
