First i'd like to say that Breach is awesome. As a game I find it really really fun. Unlike the CODs and MoH, i find myself playing Breach for hours and never getting super frustrated like I do with MW2 or Black Ops.

I think it's beauty is in it's simplicity. There isn't a huge butt load of guns or gun attachments. There are perks, but you only get one. There are gadgets but none of them seem to extremely over powered.

The best i can compare it to would be if Bad Company 2 and counterstrike ever had a child, Breach would be pretty close to that child.

It has destruction in it. All buildings and structures can be destroyed. What's really awesome about it is that it can be destroyed by more than just explosions. if your in a wooden structure and lay into it with your M60, you can essentially whittle away an entire wall of the wooden structure with your bullets. This comes in kind of handy when your a sniper. you can hide in a building and use your pistol to shoot out specific bricks in the wall to give you a nice little sniper hole to shoot through.

It works on cover too. Breach has a cover system similar to Gears of War that allows you to take cover behind things, lean around them or shoot blindly from behind them. However someone shooting back at you can eventually degrade your cover to nothing.

Example, someone hiding behind a section of waist high rock wall can get in trouble really fast if he's under attack by a gunner with the M60. The powerful bullets of the M60 will eventually erode away that brick wall brick by brick, shrinking your cover slowly.

There is also a suppression system in Breach. If your taking cover and someone is shooting at you, your guy will become "suppressed" in that he will not be able to return fire as accurately as he would under normal circumstances.

quite possibly my favorite part of the destruction ability is that it opens up new options for players who are currently outmatched. Say your alone and storming a building. There's a guy on a .50 cal turret on a balcony of that building pinning you down. You can use your assault rifle or LMG to shoot the wooden supports out from under that balcony which will make the whole thing fall down, killing the guy on the gun and removing the gun from the equation.

There was a time much like that where i was trying to move up to a building to capture a point and was pinned down by a gunner and a rifleman on a balcony. I informed my team of this and a few moments later heard 6 loud sniper rifle shots behind me, the support beam being shot out and 2 enemy guys dying by destruction. I moved up and captured the point.

Now some issues with the game are many, but minor in my eyes.

Lag is the biggest problem. if someone with a bad connection joins the game, everyone will notice latency. hit detection goes out the window, people start rubber banding all over the place, there's a noticeable time difference between when a rocket strikes something and when it explodes.

Another problem is host migration. If the host quits the whole game goes back to the lobby, selects a new host and starts the game over from the beginning. It also takes a while. This makes for some big pauses to what is otherwise a nicely paced game. What makes it bearable is that you keep all the XP you earned from the unfinished game.

Both the lag and host migration problems have been acknowledged by Atomic and fixes are in the works.

some other very minor issue I see is your running speed. He moves kind of slow by video game standards and the maps are kind of big. plus both teams have set spawn areas so if you die on the "front" it can be quite the hike to get back there all the way from the spawn.

Gadgets included in the game are a wide range. There's a sniper detector which puts a bright light glint on your hood over an enemy sniper scope making them easy to see. There's motion sensors that alert you when someone walks by them. Wall mines, bullet proof vest, this cool thing called the "bionic ear" that puts a little meter at the bottom of the screen that shows you all the noise around you. enemy footsteps and gunfire registers on the meter and lets you judge distance and direction.

there are perks as well, like double sprint duration, steady hands which makes you more accurate. there's one called ESP that makes your cover blind fire more accurate. My personal favorite right now is called badass which cuts your health in half but gives you double XP for anything that you do.

weapons get attachments depending on the gun your using. assault rifles can get things like an ACOG or a M203 grenade launcher. gunners can get a variety of sights, the sniper attachments are pretty much a progressive advancement of scopes. the Scope II allows you to zoom in farther, the Scope III allows you to zoom in even father then that.

All perks, gadgets and attachments are purchased with XP which is kind of hard to ear (which i why i like the badass perk). you get 5 XP for killing a rank one guy but you get more XP for killing higher ranked people. Objective based games get you more XP then TDM because you can get more XP from completing the objectives plus your enemy kills.

Overall score,

based upon my fun level I’d give it a 8/10

based on the quality of the game only, I’d give it a 7/10

There’s plenty of Youtube videos up about the game so check it out. For 1200 MS points I say it’s well worth the buy.
