Uh, yeah. I guess I keep this first post open until we actually start RP'ing? I usually don't like leaving empty spaces, though... :hrm:

Region: Cryto

Name: Jonathan Blake
Age: 18
Hometown: Vermillion City, Kanto Region
Occupation: Trainer/Researcher
Description:
~ Hair Color: Black
~ Eye Color: Dark Green
~ Physical Description: Jonathan stands at a rough 5’ 7”, at a weight of 164 pounds. While his body isn’t exactly bulky, it hides the extensive amount of training that he does through daily with his Raichu. His black hair is straight and stops near his eyebrows, while going over his ears and slightly down his neck. His eyes are a dark green, and his skin is slightly tanned from the amount of time spent outside training with his Raichu.
~ Attire: Green Hoodie with a Gold Shield Emblem on the front. Underneath the Hoodie [which can be zipped off and on like most hoodies] is a plain gray t-shirt and an amulet with a Thunderbadge hanging from his neck. He wears brown, fingerless leather gloves and wears a Pokegear on his left wrist. His pants are brown khakis and wears brown leather shoes.
~ Items: In Slingbag: at least 10 water bottles for Raichu, Map, flares, 30 Ultra Balls.
Carrying: Raiya’s Nest Ball, Pokedex.
Personality: Jonathan is a friendly, well-engaging person. Knowing very few people, his best friend, and perhaps his only friend, is his loyal Pokemon, Raiya, whose language he is somehow able to completely understand. Although having trouble starting conversations with others, he is very dependable and loyal to those he knows and trusts. Years of traveling and going through regular training routines have not only made Jonathan stronger, it has also increases his courage and knowledge, although he slightly irritable.
In battle, however, he shows a side of himself that seems like a polar opposite. He is extremely confident in both his tactics and Raiya’s power. He makes cold, sarcastic remarks on the enemy’s situation, and is thorough in his battle strategies, making sure that not one upset in the battle can’t be used to his advantage in some way. While fighting, he maintains the exact fighting pose that Raiya uses, and seems to be ready to jump in the fray himself at any moments notice.
Biography/History: As a young boy, Jonathan Blake always adored his older brother, Mike Blake. Although always in his brother’s shadow, Jonathan didn’t believe himself inferior to his brother; rather, he felt himself as Mike’s partner, and wanted to help him in any way possible. As such, when Mike finally decided to start his journey as a Trainer, Jonathan, rather than enlisting with Mike as a trainer also, decided it would be best if he supported him from afar as a Pokemon Researcher instead of slowing his brother down along his travels.

The same day that Mike received his Pokedex and his first pokemon, a Charmander, from Professor Oak, Jonathan, at the young age of 9, made an odd request to the Professor: the permission to become his lab assistance and help him become a Pokemon Researcher. While Oak made a point in saying that he saw Jonathan as a Trainer more than a Researcher, he was nonetheless pleased by his wanting to follow the footsteps of a Researcher, and he took Jonathan under his wing.

As the Professor’s Assistant, Jonathan started learning how to care for other Pokemon, as he had to feed and exercise other trainers’ Pokemon daily. While doing so, he made mental notes on all the different types of Pokemon that he saw, which were literally hundreds due to the number of trainers asking Oak to hold onto their Pokemon during their travels, and he soon became a walking encyclopedia on everything related to Pokemon.

One day, a number of Pokemon were scared out of the gates of the Professor’s Ranch by a herd of Trainers’ Tauros stampede, and Jonathan immediately volunteered to help Oak gather the missing Pokemon. The Professor gave Jonathan a Pokedex and a choice of starter Pokemon, saying that Jonathan had long since proven himself as both a Researcher and as a trainer. Choosing a Squirtle as his new Pokemon, of which he dreamed of owning for years, he set off to collect the Pokemon, which took the rest of the day to complete.

It would be a few years until his brother would return to Pallet town to see his young brother again. By this time, Jonathan was 13, and had been working for Oak for four years, diligently learning everything he could about Pokemon and training caring for his Blastoise with any spare time he had. It would be a surprise visit that Jonathan would never forget.

Mike, now a veteran trainer that had seen almost all of what the Pokemon World had to offer, was known all over for his Raichu's power and their indominable tactics. So it would come to his younger brother's surprise when he told Jonathan that he had enough of the Trainer’s lifestyle, and yearned for the simpler lifestyle as a scientist, hopefully benefiting Pokemon as a result.

Giving his younger brother his gold-crested green hoodie and giving his Bronze-furred Raichu his green hat, he confessed that his Raichu had not only made most of the strategies that they were known for, the only way he had ever helped his Raichu in his training is by putting him through a rough training schedule which only his Raichu participated in. In this way, he never truly helped his Raichu in fighting or in training; it was, in fact, all his Pokemon's determination for greatness that led them to where they were now.

Deeming himself not as a trainer but as Raichu’s friend and training partner, he told Jonathan that he would make a better trainer than he ever was, and gave Jonathan his Raichu before setting off to pack his things. The Raichu greeted Jonathan warmly and accepted him with open arms.

When Raiya and Jonathan met, there seemed to be a mutual understanding between the two, and they seemed to compliment each other’s personality almost perfectly. Jonathan being more of a strategist and knowing much of what there was to know about most of the species of Pokemon that existed, and Raiya being an extremely gifted fighter that excelled in any challenge that he faced, the two became an unstoppable Trainer/Pokemon combo almost immediately.

Due to Raiya’s persistence, Jonathan continued the extensive body building and training sessions that Mike had put forth before for Raiya, but instead of trying to help Raiya train from afar, as Mike had done previously, Jonathan decided it would be best for both their friendship, health, and training purposes if he trained alongside Raiya all the time. Not only did Raiya become more powerful as a result, but Jonathan was also able to strengthen their bond as well as becoming a great fighter himself.

Training and sparring together during the day, traveling the world at night, Jonathan and Raiya became more powerful and more renown as a team of legendary fighters. In Saffron City, after they defeated Sabrina, Jonathan decided to go into the Fighting Dojo. To both the Dojo’s and Raiya’s surprise, however, he took on the students himself, as he wished to see how far he had progressed under the training regiment that he still had himself and Raiya undertake. Defeating the Students in sparing matches with much ease, Raiya followed suit, fighting their Pokemon, also winning with ease. In respect of their individual yet singular drive for battle, the Karate Master Koichi made them a small amulet that had their dojo’s symbol on it. Jonathan would later stick his Thunderbadge on the flat side of the amulet to create an amulet that signified his and his Pokemon’s bond.

Due to his power and to the surprise element that he was somehow able to always keep around his person, Raiya found true challenge, and real excitement, in the tournaments that the local regions hosted. Using strategies that he had invented and his trainer had revised and edited, Raiya and Jonathan was able to triumph against every Pokemon he came across in the tournaments, without ever having to switch out or take a rest. His unfathomable training sessions and his drive in battle proved his worth again and again, as they left the regions’ tournaments with First Place.

Jonathan and Raiya would travel to many other regions after finishing first place in the Kanto championships. Along his travels, Jonathan took note of many new discoveries, and continued his path of a Researcher as well as of a Trainer by researching different Pokemon while enlisting in Pokemon Tournaments that they would eventually decimate.

During their travels, they often got daily e-mails from Mike about what he had done today, what was going on in the world of Pokemon, and checking up on Jonathan’s and Raiya’s progress. Then one day, during their travels in Sinnoh, Mike didn’t send an e-mail. This didn’t particularly upset Jonathan or Raiya, but the same followed for the next day. Days turned into week, weeks turned into months, and eventually it had been years since Jonathan and Raiya had received their last e-mail from their brother. Neither Jonathan nor Raiya could help Mike, as they didn’t know where he worked, so all they could do was wait to receive another e-mail from their beloved brother. But it never came.

During their travels, they made a point in trying to find out as much about their brother as possible, and try to find out what happened to him. They barely found any information about him that they weren’t already familiar with. They had almost given up on both their travels and of finding their brother when they heard word of a new region opening their doors to the public.

Raiya, his never-ending fighting spirit for once calmed, had once again been given flame when he heard of a new region to explore, and of new trainers to dominate. Jonathan was happy to have something to do again, having no new challenges to test their brain and brawn against for the past few months. They set off through a desert toward the harbor that would take them through Sinnoh to this new region…

Pokémon:
Nickname: Raiya
Species: Raichu [Bronze Furred Shiny Raichu]
Gender: Male
Nature: Brave
Personality: Raiya could be said to be Jonathan’s older brother as well as his Pokemon.
Having traveled with Mike for so long, Raiya has seemed to have taken up some of the personality traits of his former trainer. While being overall friendly to new acquaintances, he is stubborn in his beliefs and doesn’t like being told to do what he doesn’t feel is right or what he just doesn’t feel like doing. He hates being underestimated or being talked down upon, and will challenge any trainer or Pokemon himself in order to help make himself more powerful and experienced.
In battle, Raiya is extremely cunning and ruthless. He refuses to pull back punches, and hits his enemy with full force on the get-go. He’s easily adaptable to new situations, and thinks through all of his attack options in order to find the best approach to his opponent.
Level: 62
Attacks: Brick Break, Focus Blast, Thunderpunch, Reversal, Double Team, Agility
Pokéball: Nest Ball [Never used; Raichu prefers to travel alongside its Trainer, Jonathan]

“Great. I can’t get a reception. Well isn’t that just PERFECT!!”

Jonathan threw his Pokegear into the soft sand. He never had much reason to use it’s phone function, as he tended to be a loner, but he always kept the app installed just in case of an emergency. Quite frankly, he couldn’t think of a bigger emergency than being stuck in the middle of some unknown desert with no flying Pokemon and barely any water.

It wasn’t the first time that he had to go through a desert, but this certainly was the first time he wasn’t prepared for one. Fortunately, he was packing lightly, so he was able to stuff his green hoodie and t-shirt into his backpack to keep from overheating. Countless hours of physical training with his Raichu had given Jonathan the body and the ability that would allow him to cross this desert with minimum fatigue, and he was already used to extreme sunlight. The only thing that bothered him was his Pokemon.

“Poor Raiya…”, Jonathan said softly to himself. Unlike Jonathan, who was able to take off his hoodie and t-shrit to cool himself down, Raichu had a fur coat that he couldn’t follow suit with, so there was nothing he could do to make himself cooler. Raichu had pulled down his hat’s rim so that the rising sun wouldn’t blind him, and the bottle of water that he was drinking before had been long since empty, so he had started throwing it up in the air and catching it with his tail in order to distract him from the unbearable heat.

“<How far away’s the harbor?>” Raiya inquired, turning his head up toward his beloved trainer, still juggling the water bottle with his tail.

“I’m not sure, but from what I read, it’s only about sixty miles or so from that rock spire that we just passed a minute ago.” Jonathan replied.

*Donk!*

Jonathan turned to see what made such a peculiar noise, but only saw Raiya staring angrily up at him and yelling his little head off while stomping his foot into the sand.

“<Sixty MILES?! Are you SERIOUS?! We could have found a Pokemon Center and had your Togekiss fly us to the harbor by now!! And you decide to have us take a stroll through a DESERT?!>

Jonathan barely ever saw Raiya yell before, but he understood how he was so angry. He leaned down and lightly put his hand on Raiya’s shoulder.

“Raiya, you know as well as I do that there isn’t any Pokemon Centers around here that we could withdraw Togekiss from. The nearest Center is about 340 miles anyways, and to get there, we’d have to go around a mountain and through about half of a continent of forest. So I thought that it’d be better to go through this little part of desert instead of making a long trip that would last several days and just make us more exhausted in the end. Just try to tough it out, ok? We’ve both been through worse that this.”

Jonathan grabbed his Pokegear, strapped it back on his left wrist, stood back up, and started on his way again. Raiya just sighed and picked up his water bottle. Apparently, Jonathan’s remark on how far away they were from the harbor surprised Raiya so much that he forgot the water bottle that he was juggling, and it bonked him right on the head.

“<I know. I’m just angry that we have to go so far just so we have to ride a boat to Sinnoh to catch the actual boat that’ll take us to this new place. It’s just frustrating.]”, Raichu muttered, as he resumed following his trainer.

A few hours later, Raichu had started making random tail-prints in the sand to help alleviate his boredom and to past the time.

“<And one goes here…and another here…another here…and here’s another…>”, he said absent-mindedly.

“<And another, and one her--.>” *Bump!*

Raichu fell square on his back, and looked up to see Jonathan staring at something in the distance.

“Raiya…”, Jonathan announced, as a smirk spread across the right side of his face. “I believe we’ve found something for you to do.”

“<Oh yeah? THAT SOUNDS PERFECT! SHOW ME WHA->”

And then he noticed what was going to be his little time sink. A giant Cacturne was sleeping right in front of their path, apparently preserving it’s energy for it’s nightly hunts. Unfortunately for the Pokemon, he was right in front of a valley path that would take them straight to the harbor, and there was no way to get around him.

“<Sparing practice, huh? OK, I’m up for that!>”, Raichu said, as he got back on his feet and sized up his new, as of yet unbroken toy.

The Cacturne must have overheard the commotion, as it now had its arms spread out wide, and was getting ready to charge at the two intruders.

“Alright, Raiya. You know what to do!” Jonathan yelled at the now-fatally close Cacturne.

Cacturne was just about to mow over the helpless trainer when it saw a small Bronze-colored meatball that zipped up right above him and was reared back a clenched, glowing paw teeming with electricity. But he was ready it. Just when the rodent was almost close enough to strike him, he leaned back and threw a Needlearm attack of his own that hit the Raichu square on in the gut.

At least, that’s what he was thinking, when he arm went right through the Pokemon.

“Caccy,” Jonathan remarked loudly enough to the wide-eyed Cacturne so that it could hear him before the inevitable thunder that would deafen all the sound in the area, “I’m glad to see there’s some fighting spirit in this desert. But I’m afraid that you made a fatal mistake when fighting us…”

The Cacturne could hear a fierce crackling sound, but he was barely quick enough to even look behind him to see what was going on.

“RAAAAAAIIIIIEEEE….”

“You left yourself wide open.”

The Cacturne finally realized what was happening. He was tricked by a Double-team attack. He was being outmaneuvered by an Agility attack. And now he was about to be overpowered. The only thing he was able to do was fixate his gaze on a mighty Thunderpunch that was being thrown by a Green-capped, Bronze-Furred Raichu.

“CHIIIYYYAAAAAOOOUUUUUUU!!!!”

Raiya’s attack hit in the small of Cacturne’s back, and this attack was no illusion.

“Ahh…I think this breeze made that whole trip through the desert worth it.”

Jonathan and Raiya were now on a boat that would take them directly to the harbor to Sinnoh, where they planned to take a ship that would take them directly to Cryto, a region that had just recently opened it’s doors to the public.

Jonathan and Raiya had taken a “small” 25-hour nap during part of the ship ride to Sinnoh, and were now on the deck of the ship drinking pineapple smoothies and enjoying the breeze. Most of the people on the ship, which was christened S.S. Tiffany, had fled inside due to heavy storm rains and a raging sea. This weather, however, was perfect for Jonathan and his Raichu, who had gone through a whole desert on only one bottle of water. Raiya seemed to especially enjoy the rain, as he had tried to catch as much rainwater in his mouth as they made there way to the ship’s bar for their smoothies.

While Jonathan kept one of his hands firmly grasped on the railing, Raiya, true to himself, stood on the railing. With his long tail wrapped around the length of the railing, Raiya was not only able to stabilize himself from the rocking of the boat and the strong winds, it allowed him to hold his smoothie with both of his paws while sipping the sweet frozen concoction through a yellow straw. Raichu spent the majority of the ride in the exact same spot, watching the crashing waves of the sea and the bright flashes of light from the thunderclouds overhead.

“TWO OVERBOARD! TWO OVERBOARD!!” cried a ship worker.

Jonathan, out of instinct, grabbed for one of his Pokeballs that were on his belt. He intended to use his Blastoise, Stryker, to catch the two from the violent surf. When he brought the Pokeball up to his eyesight, he saw that the Pokeball was, in actuality, a reserve Ultra Ball. He forgot that he left all of his Pokemon besides Raiya in his PC for safekeeping during the trip. All he could do was watch helplessly as the two faded out of sight into the sea.

“<Well…they’re screwed.>”, Raiya remarked, apparently feeling detached from both the situation and the world by what he saw as perfect weather.

Jonathan, however, felt differently. Not only did he feel like both of them would be all right, he also had a strange feeling that he would be seeing one of them very soon.

“<Yep. Definitely screwed.>”, Raiya repeated, slurping up part of his smoothie.
