At a speed even light itself would appreciate, a streaming bolt of lightning cracked the ancient temple, followed by a thunderous clap. Azulongmon exited his temple, and joined the other three Sovereign in the Sacred Fields. He spoke with a commanding, yet wise voice.

"My fellow Sovereign, I sense great despair arising in the near future. I'm sure you as well have felt the rift."

"Aye," said Ebonwumon, as the giant tortoise stirred. "I fear the future of the Digital World will be very dark."

The ground began to heat as Zhuqiaomon grew angry. "We know who is doing this. I say we just strike Daemon and Barbamon now. I'm sure the Grand Olympus will have no problem giving us a hand. Besides, I'd love to set Barbamon aflame."

Azulongmon's patience was of that rivaling the angels themselves. Zhuqiaomon was insufferable. "You know as well as I do that the Olympians are still healing. After the loss of half their members at the hands of Belphlemon, they cannot handle anymore threats on that scale at this time."

Baihumon, who had been giving the matter serious thought, decided to speak up. "Look, I know we asked them to seal Belphlemon, but I told you that we should have helped. We can at least fight now, when the Digital World needs us the most."

Azulongmon, who was more wise than stubborn, rejected the idea. "It is not our place to fight. Our responsibility is to create laws for the Digital World by which to abide. Belphlemon's mere aura proved to be incredibly foreboding. Our previous agreement was to have the Grand Olympus remove him before it was too late. We did our job, they did theirs."

Ebonwumon kept his usual, calm demeanor. "Well something must be done. This threat isn't going to disappear by itself. Beelzemon didn't, Belphlemon didn't, and Daemon and Barbamon will not either. While I'm not too keen to the idea of battle, I believe it may be the only choice."

Zhuqiaomon, slightly calmer than before, agreed. "Ebonwumon's right. I'm sure the Grand Olympus would aid us if we decided to strike down Daemon and Barbamon. Don't forget, we also have the Celestials, who will be able to rally more allies to our cause."

Azulongmon remained unmoving. "No. The Celestials' hands are bound by the laws we have created. However, this does not mean we should doubt ourselves. I believe these laws to be the best at protecting the Digital World. The problem is that these times are darker than normal."

Zhuqiaomon did not let Azulongmon continue his speech. "Then you simply cannot tell us to wait it out. The very essence of the Digital World is being challenged. We cannot watch in indecisiveness as it crumbles before us. I will fight. You can either join me, or only prove to hinder me."

At the end of Zhuqiaomon's ultimatum, a great shadow engulfed all of the Sovereign. Their size was dwarfed by the presence of their leader: Fanglongmon. He spoke with a commanding tone. "That is enough. Azulongmon is right, we will not fight; To do so is not our place. Instead, we must predict events yet to come. We have all lived long enough to see the cyclical nature of our world. These events are not new to us. It is now our responsibility to aid the Celestials and the Olympians as best we can. Our decision regarding Belphlemon was for the best. Countless lives were saved due to it. And I will admit, the future is dark. In the end, we may suffer great losses, the truth I do not know. However, I do know that we, along with the Celestials and the Grand Olympus have sworn oaths to protect the Digital World. We will do so, even if it means facing a threat large enough to warrant the attention of the Royal Knights.
