The signing makes official a NASA authorization act that scraps the space agency's previous moon-oriented goal and paves the way for a manned mission to an asteroid by 2025. A manned mission to Mars is envisioned for some time in the 2030s. Posts: 4,436 Group: Members Member #2 Joined: Dec 19, 2008 Region RP Name: Northern Italian Confederation, Tarkka, Third French Empire Space RP Name: United Federation of Planets	Still disappointed that Constellation was canceled (all the more so now that China is stepping up its space program - or saying it is, at least), but I understand the reasons behind both its cancellation and the new direction Obama is taking NASA. After all, commercialization is the best way to drive down costs and foster ingenuity.
