Eirik Halestrom President of the Kalmar Union of Nordic Republics ![]() Born: 13 June 1943 Hometown: Visby, Gotland Political party: Unionist Party Alma mater: Princeton University Pre-presidency position: International Business Law Arbiter, United Nations Religion: Atheist/Agnostic Biography: Very little is known about Eirik Halestrom, what motivates him, or how exactly he came to form the Kalmar Union. His records get sketchy more than 18 months ago, and whilst there are several people who claim to remember him working as an Arbiter for the United Nations, the records detailing his work for the UN have been mysteriously misplaced, and noone is quite sure where exactly he did this work for them. His origins in Visby are at least reasonably certain, as an Eirik Halestrom was born there according to their records. Princeton University has declined so far to comment, as it lost its archives from the early 60s in a mysterious fire. What is known is that Halestrom convinced a number of Swedish Lawyers and Businessmen to form a Unionist Administrative Council, before obtaining the Prime Ministry from the King of Sweden, and then approaching Sweden and Norway's biggest corporations. Once he had royal and financial backing, he found it easy to obtain the support of regional and local councils, and a number of Norwegian and Swedish soldiers 'volunteered' to form a defensive force for the growing 'government'. From there, the whole project snowballed, and soon the Kalmar Union was able to lay claim to legitimacy. Valter Nielsson also happens to be Halestrom's younger cousin, although little is known about their relationship, working or personal. Valter's records have also likewise mysteriously vanished, and, prior to emerging as an Arbiter for Companies like Nokia, Lindborg and other big Swedish Companies, almost nothing exists of him. He has an unusual style of speaking and a very offputting demeanour, a stilted, almost mechanical method of behaviour. He is obsessive about his appearance and repulsed by anything resembling untidiness or dirt. Every morning he washes his hair with 12 different lotions and shampoos, and wears an ice-pack to prevent signs of ageing. He has a strenous and methodical routine, and never deviates from it. Despite not being the Foreign Minister, his influence inside and outside the Union is difficult to gauage accurately, suffice it to say, he appears in many photographs alongside the highest names in the business world, and is a personal friend to most of the "Big 10" who top the Fortune 500 list. Merchant and pirate were for a long period one and the same person. Even today mercantile morality is really nothing but a refinement of piratical morality. -Anonmyous Open your barrels Bring me your finest wine Where are the women?
