BRITISH BROADCASTING SERVICE

For the people, for empire, and for the world.

Tonight's broadcast: Labor Party smashes opposition in Parliamentary election

Early election results indicated that the Liberal Democrats, the favorite to win Friday's Parliamentary elections, were going to cruise to an easy victory. However, by nightfall, the Labour Party managed to pull off a smashing victory over the opposition. With 488 of 646 seats won, the Labour Party now holds absolute control over the British government.

His Majesty the King announced late Saturday that Labour Party leader Langdon Brenton Sparrow would be appointed as Prime Minister, who formally took office Monday morning.

In his inaugural address, Prime Minister Sparrow made an impassioned plea to Parliament, asking for its cooperation and support through the times ahead. Starting off by joking "now we are all assholes, I chief among them," he called upon the new leaders of the Empire to take responsibility with their new positions.

"It is true, that each of us was elected to be the leaders of this great Empire. And it is true that there are those amongst us who have held terms for years, decades even. But let us understand that I do not plan to work towards seeking a second term as Prime Minister, for it is my sacred duty as charged by His Majesty to lead this nation and its people towards a brighter future. I work for the people, and I ask that every member of this great body work not towards their own personal gain, but to share in my mission to usher in an era of growth and prosperity never before seen in this nation's history. For within each of us rests the power to make tomorrow better than it was today."

The Prime Minister's words brought loud applause from within the House of Commons as he reached out to the nation's new leaders. While only time will tell if the powerful words of the nations new leader will ring true, they inspire hope within the hearts of the people, a kind of hope long-absent since the Conservative Party, the incumbents in the last election, took office more than twenty years ago.

The Prime Minister will announce his cabinet selections in a press conference tomorrow. It is expected that Baldwin Harmon Lovell, the Minister of Defense in the last administration, will retain his post, while Shelby Gerald Napier, former British ambassador to the United Nations, will likely become the head of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

On tonight's broadcast: Paris riots prompt military crackdown

It is common knowledge to every British citizen that the Commonwealth of Northern France was generally opposed to the 1996 British invasion and subsequent occupation. Many native Frenchmen have long since blamed the British government in London for precipitating the collapse of the French Republic later that year, their anger displayed in constant fashion in the form of regular protests.

However, these instances of civil disobedience came to a head earlier today when a massive demonstration in front of the Commonwealth Building - the headquarters of provincial government in Northern France, and the residence of the Governor-General - in central Paris broke-out into massive rioting. Though riot police, who were on-hand for the occasion, were initially outmaneuvered and overwhelmed, the timely arrival of a mechanized regiment of foot permitted pro-government forces to re-establish order in the city.

Already similar instances of rioting have occur ed in several other cities on the continent, including Brest, Caen, and Calais, though all were quickly broken up by police. The Home Office, in a statement released several hours after order was restored in Paris, pins the blame on anarchist forces native to North Africa, who, the Home Secretary says, are attempting to further their own cause by inciting violence within a corner of the British Empire that is rife with malcontent.

There has been talk by analysts of a military expedition to Algeria and Morocco to deal with these anarchist groups at the source. A recent agreement reached between the Iberian and British governments on military cooperation may prove to quite valuable in such an event. For the present time, however, a general curfew has been ordered for the whole of Northern France (save for the mostly-British Contentin Peninsula , of course, though there have been reports of violence amongst local Frenchmen who resent the forced expulsion of French citizens and the re-population of the peninsula by British citizens). The Northern France military district has been put on alert, and garrison forces are being deployed on anti-riot duty.

There have been additional rumors that the SAS and an as-of-yet-unnamed counter-terrorism force may be deployed to Northern France to attempt to stamp-out the heart of this "anarchist movement." The government has refused to discuss such rumors, and no further information has surfaced.

On tonight's broadcast: Tensions flare as ADCON announces colonial expansion

In an unsurprising move earlier today, the Kingdom of Greece, one of the members of the Allied Defense Coalition (ADCON) announced that areas in the former nations of Canada and the United States would soon be brought under ADCON control in a major colonization program. The program is aimed at curtailing the supposed violence against the Tomanian colony of Kentuckia by neighboring semi-organized areas in the American Plains and Eastern Canada. The plan has received almost universal condemnation from NATO, chief among them the Continental Union, which sees the act as a violation of the Monroe Doctrine.

In a joint-statement released shortly after the ADCON announcement, Prime Minister Sparrow and His Majesty condemned the actions of ADCON, saying that they "endangered the delicate balance between NATO and ADCON, and seriously risked irreparable damage between His Majesty's Government and the governments of the ADCON nations." His Majesty continued further, stating that lands in question were "inherently, always, and shall continue to be American, and no nation has any right to force itself upon these areas other than the Continental Union." He called the charge that Kentuckia was under constant attack "a fabrication," and took a stab at Tomania for wanting only to spread fascist ideals to traditionally democratic lands.

The possibility of war between NATO and ADCON has increased sharply, with the Americans threatening to respond if the ADCON plan is not rescinded. His Majesty's Government, in keeping with its policy of supporting its allies, may intervene on behalf of America if war does indeed breakout. Already, there have been at least three high-level meetings today (in Parliament, at the Admiralty, and at Army High Command), although no further information about the purpose or results of these meetings has been released.

On Tonight's Broadcast: "Counter-Colonialism" policy makes headway in Labrador

After yesterday's surprise announcement by the FCO that the Government had laid claim to Labrador and that British forces had landed in St. John's, Newfoundland, further progress has been made in the Empire's efforts to counter the colonial ambitions of the Allied Defense Coalition.

Legislation passed by Parliament, in the form of the Labrador Protection Act, formally became law in a ceremony at Westminister Abbey late this morning. The Act calls for the creation of an independent protectorate in the former Canadian regions of Labrador and Newfoundland. Already, the Colonial Administration Authority, charged with the management of Britain's overseas possessions, has begun organizing a new Labradorian government. Calls for the holding of a Constitutional Convention have received particular interest from leading officials in the old Labradorain government, with reports surfacing that the development of a Labradorian Constitution and government already being underway.

Meanwhile, additional British forces have pushed into Labrador to complete the process of securing the territory. Centered around the elite Grenadier Guards Light Regiment of Foot, British forces totaling some 2,500 soldiers and support troops have been deployed to the area. While the area is not generally considered hostile, the force is intended to act as a deterrent to possible ADCON attempts to disrupt the British mission in Labrador.

The chief CAA official in Labrador, Sir Frank Power, has declared in an interview with our correspondent in Labrador that "elections will be held within weeks. I have high hopes that a new democratic government will take power and begin the process of making Labrador into the rightful power that is should be." When pressed regarding the involvement of His Majesty's Government in the Labradorian government, Sir Power simply stated, "We're just here to help."

ADCON has protested this move, calling our actions "hypocritical." ADCON demanded that an explanation be given for the Empire's refusal to seek global cooperation in its efforts in Labrador. The Secretary of State for the FCO politely declined their request.

On tonight's broadcast: First Labradorian elections held as questions arise over where the CAA will move next

In the week since British forces occupied the former Canadian provinces of Labrador and Newfoundland, significant progress has been made towards the establishment of what the Colonial Administration Authority calls the "Commonwealth of Labrador." This has been showcased with the holding of a general election in Labrador.

Although a formal Constitution has been written by Labradorian citizens, the document itself has not been ratified by any formal legislative body. However, CAA officials have already moved ahead and organized the election of a provisional government that will bring into existence the first full and official Labradorian government.

Although there have been no exit polls due to security, it is expected that long-time Labradorian independence activist Frances Lyon King will become the interim-President of Labrador. She has garnered much favor with the people of Labrador, championing their rights as free citizens and pledging to build Labrador into a free and independent state.

There has been some resistance to these elections. Protesters appeared at several polling stations in the northern reaches of Labrador, as there are several as-of-yet unidentified groups who have expressed serious concern at the involvement of His Majesty's Government in establishing a Labradorian state. Although the general consensus of the population has been one of extreme gratitude for the CAA's and the Government's efforts in Labrador, it was clear from the state that the warm-welcome would not be universal.

Election results are due to come out within the next couple of days. The first scheduled meeting of the Provisional Labradorian Congress will begin sometime next week.

With the apparent success in Labrador, questions have arisen of where the CAA may choose to move next. Although no official statement has been made, there has been an unconfirmed report that the Aggressor General may be pushing towards establishing another Commonwealth protectorate in Central Canada.

On Tonight's Broadcast: Parliament approves massive increase in defense spending amidst growing global tensions

Parliament has approved a measure that would increase defending by a full third of the current spending level, significantly increasing the size and capabilities of His Majesty's Armed Forces.

The Military Expansion and Global Protection Act, as it is called, calls for increasing the size of the ground forces by at least three divisions, upgrading the existing Royal Navy and adding several additional warships, and in deploying at least two more full wings of aircraft for the Royal Air Force. Additional reserve forces will be created. Projected standings for HM Armed Forces are looking at approximately 600,000 active personnel, with almost 2 million in reserve.

Funding for this project is expected to be taken from social wellfare programs, which the Prime Minister has been keen to eliminate amid growing levels of corruption and inefficiency within the department responsible (as well as overall lack of usage by the general population). No tax hikes have been announced as of yet. Funding will also be acquired by decommissioning HMS Vanguard, the last battleship in service anywhere in the world and currently the large non-carrier surface warship in the world. The ship's annual upkeep and maintenance costs are expected to provide a sizable portion of the funding for this act.

This increase comes as British forces continue their push to establish free protectorates in North America. Earlier this week the FCO announced that a second protectorate, the Commonwealth of Manitoba, would be established after the successes in Labrador. However, reports have come out of Manitoba that British forces are encountering resistance from local groups that are opposed to the establishment of a democratic government. The FCO and the CAA have released no statements regarding these reports, and have declined to comment when asked.

Furthermore, the potential collapse of the FMP, a NATO ally, has undoubtedly driven the proposal to be passed. Terrorist and ultra-nationalist organizations are rumored to be making head-way in their fight against government forces, with levels of violence increasing dramatically over the past few weeks. The United Nations Security Council has called together a special session to discuss the situation, and it is possible that the Empire will deploy troops to contain the situation.

On Tonight's Broadcast: Deadly ambush in Manitoba

22 Royal Marines were killed in fighting with local forces during a reconnaissance mission in the newly formed Protectorate of Manitoba early this morning.

The unit, part of 40 Commando, had been searching for the location of an old Canadian military installation prior to the attack. The Army has stated that the forces responsible were likely locals who may have looted the rumored installation prior to the arrival of the soldiers. No comment was given when asked if there were any indications of ADCON involvement.

Although the military is keeping a tight seal on the incident, our correspondent in Churchill has reported that additional ground forces were flown in earlier this evening. It is more than likely that the military will deploy more forces to the area to ensure security and guard against any future attacks.

The public response has been one of sadness and confusion. His Majesty the King offered his condolences to the families of the deceased, and promised a full investigation into the incident would be conducted. Many are surprised at how soldiers of the elite Royal Marines could be ambushed by irregular forces. At this stage, no one outside of the military really knows. But rest assured, we at the British Broadcasting Service will do out utmost to bring you all the information on this story as it comes to us.

Our thoughts go out with the families of the 22 soldiers as we end our broadcast tonight.

On Tonight's Broadcast: HMS Vanguard set to be reactivated

OOC: This will assume the real battleship was not scrapped in 1960

First Sea Lord Fleet Admiral Lord Terrence Harper announced in a press conference earlier today that the mothballed hulk of HMS Vanguard, the last battleship to be built by any nation, would be restored to active status within the next four months.

"We've been planning this for a long time," Lord Harper said. The project, which was disguised as an attempt by BAE to break out into the luxury cruise liner market, has been on-going since 2004. "We're very proud of her," the First Sea Lord was quoted as saying.

Vanguard was launched in 1946, too late to participate in the Second World War. However, the design of the "fully armored battlecruiser," as she was officially listed, was able to incorporate many of the important lessons learned during the war. Vanguard, the second-largest battleship ever constructed (surpassed only by the Japanese Yamato-class superbattleships in displacement) was considered to be an excellent sea boat during her 10-year service with the Royal Navy, carrying the Royal Family to many nations, and participating in the 1956 Suez Crisis. She was put into reserve in 1955. A campagin to have her preserved as a museum failed, and in 1960 she was permanently decommissioned. Parliament ordered that she be kept as an asset pending a national emergency, in which she could be reactivated. When her hulk was moved to BAE's yard on They Clyde in 2004, it was reported that she would commence scheduled maintenance to preserve her hull. Instead, this move was actually the beginning of a major program to reconstruct the battleship.

Although no details have been released regarding what specific upgrades have been made to her 60-year-old hulk, naval experts suggest that she will incorporate the latest weapons systems in the UK's arsenal, including the new Principal Air-Defense System deployed on the Royal Navy's new Type 45 destroyers. It is possible that her superstructure may be rebuilt to incorporate new stealth features. It is unknown whether the ship's power plant has been converted to utilize nuclear power (which is unlikely, as the new Queen Elizabeth-class carriers have been built with conventional gas-turbine engines).

On Tonight's Broadcast: Anti-war opposition grows as MoD discusses troop deployments

Tens of thousands of protesters have flocked to the streets of London, Manchester, and Birmingham to call for the government to recall British forces from Manitoba, following reports that MoD was considering deploying as many as four additional brigades to the region. Chants of "No blood for Canada!" and "End British Imperialism!" were frequent from the otherwise non-violent protests.

These protests come as British forces have found themselves unable to combat resistance elements operating within the Protectorate. In the wake of two major losses - the Lynn Lake and Election Day massacres - which have left 96 British soldiers dead and over 300 wounded, anti-war sentiment at home as sky-rocketed. This stands in stark contrast to early August when it was first announced that British forces would be committed to secure Labrador from possible ADCON expansion. Public support then was at a record 92%, and remained steady as British forces were able to successful establish a new commonwealth within the old Canadian provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador.

However, the perceived lack of success in Manitoba has sapped considerably at public support for PM Sparrow's "Anti-colonialism" campaign, which is aimed at curbing ADCON expansion in North America. The debate in Parliament has also grown considerably more intense, as the minority party in the House of Commons, initially silent on the issue, has "raised hell" in the words of one MP.

The PM is scheduled to formally announce his plan in Manitoba before the end of the week.

On Tonight's Broadcast: PM announces Manitoba troop deployments

Prime Minister Langdon Sparrow has ordered the deployment of for additional army brigades - some 15,000 troops - to Manitoba to bolster British Forces Canada. The announcement was delayed 24 hours to take into consideration new developments in the Baltic, specifically the Tomanian invasion of Finland.

This "surge," as the PM called it, will bring British troop levels in Manitoba, currently at 17,000, to over 30,000 combat troops and support personnel. The Colonial Administration Authority, which is responsible for administering the region, is expected to increase its deployment of administrative and advisory personnel.

"We cannot ignore our obligations to the citizens of the world," the Prime Minister said in his speech to the House of Commons today. "It is the sovereign right of every man, woman, and child to live in a world that is free from tyranny and oppression; from lawlessness and injustice; from heartbreak and sorrow," the Prime Minister said. "The Empire will not abandon its obligation to the people of Manitoba, and of the free world. Where democracy is threatened, the British Empire will stand to defend it."

In response to the Tomanian invasion of Finland, the PM said, "This is just another blatant slap in the face by ADCON. Once more they have demonstrated their clear resolve to abandon the diplomatic framework of the United Nations, and to instead resort to wild military expansionism to achieve their petty goals." Prime Minister Sparrow continued his scathing attack of ADCON policy, saying "We will never tolerate the invasion and subjugation of another people, whatever excuse may be given."

Meanwhile, the FCO has announced that a high-level delegation has been sent to Stockholm to open negotiations with the Kalmar Union, the supposed successors to the FMP, which appears to have collapsed for unknown reasons. This show of support for the new government of Scandinavia is likely aimed as a message towards Tomania: that the Empire will not permit further Tomanian expansion in Scandinavia.

In his closing statement, the Prime Minister assured the British people of the righteousness of the British operation in Manitoba, and reminded them of the success of the operation in Labrador. But, he left off with a chilling warning.

"If the British Empire does not stand up for the rights of the people, who will?"

BREAKING NEWS: Major government scandal erupts, threatens to tear apart British government

An unnamed source with the British government has approached the BBS with documents detailing massive government corruption on a level never before seen. The documents contain financial records of more than 3/4 of Parliament and almost all of Prime Minister Sparrow's cabinet - including the PM himself. The records show that since taking office, PMs have been billing the government for personal expenses that are clearly well out of line with what it permissible. We are able to confirm that Aggressor General Sir Hugh MacLean and FCO Secretary Shelby Napier are not among the names on the rather expansive list.

In one instance, in the past two months alone one MP has charged the government more than 320,000 pounds, the expenses appearing to include week-long stays are expensive hotels while on non-government related business, extravagant parties, and the purchase of a luxury vehicle for personal use.

An earlier broadcast tonight that first hinted at the then-rumor of the scandal triggered massive outrage. Thousands of emails have flooded the BBS expressing disdain and outrage at the report. Although no official response has been offered by the government, there is expected to be, as one of our colleagues put it, "utter hell to pay for this one."

This also comes as more information is revealed about the background of His Majesty King Richard IV. In tonight's earlier broadcast we hinted at rumors surrounding that the current Royal Family (Richard IV and his son Charles) might be descendants of the House of Stuart. Moments ago our researchers found what is believed to be the King's birth certificate, which clearly lists him as a member of the Stuart family. Indeed, speculation has arisen that the King may have had a part in the brutal slayings of the Royal Family several years ago in some kind of coup de'tat by the House of Stuart against the beloved House of Windsor.

We have no further information at this point in time. We will keep you updated as we learn more.

SPECIAL REPORT: From BBS Broadcast Studio 1

Announcer: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. We interrupt your regularly scheduled programing to bring you this special edition of BBS News.

*Instead of the usual BBS anchor, you see a young woman, hands folded atop the news desk*

Hello. You may not recognize me - in fact, I know you don't, since my very existence has been the subject of intense secrecy for all my 19 years of life.

I am Victoria Elizabeth Mary, grand-daughter of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. I am the daughter of Charles, Prince of Wales, and his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles. My birth in 1990 was feared to bring shame upon my family, thus my very existence was kept hidden from the prying eyes of the outside world. In a way, this secrecy is what kept me alive, hidden from the knowledge of the henchmen that murdered my family 10 years ago this month.

Why I come before you now is no question to anyone. You have seen the violence. You have seen what Langdon Sparrow has done in the interests of self-preservation. You have seen the beginnings of the end of democracy in Britain.

But we cannot permit any of this to continue. We have the power to wrest for ourselves control over our lives from a tyrannical and illegitimate government that murdered its way into power, and now will murder its own people to remain in power.

The latter - murdering to remain in power - is obvious. The deaths of our citizens - heroes, the lot of them - in Trafalgar Square at the hands of Sparrow's goons has affected all of us. But the former - what do I mean by that? I want to show you something - a picture, taken by a photographer with no name at a time no one wants to remember. It is not unlike the picture that is burned into my mind, of my family being massacred at the hands of a madman.

*Cuts to the photograph, showing a mob armed with machine guns machetes hacking at the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, with one man standing prominently in the center over top the Monarch, wielding a shotgun and a knife*

The death of my grandparents. I cannot... It brings backs memories I have tried long and hard to forget. But I can't. Not knowing that the man you see in the centre of that photograph is none other than Richard Milhouse Stuart, who prostitutes himself as His Majesty the King Richard IV. Take another look, see for yourselves that this is the butcher who took from us my family - our family.

Can you live knowing now what I have lived with since the day that bastard stole power from my family? Can you live knowing that it was his henchmen who dragged our beloved royal family out into the streets and murdered them? Can you live knowing that now one of his henchmen sits as Prime Minister, and is doing everything in his power to take away the hard-fought rights from our people?

I won't. Not any more.

You must find it within yourselves to defend democracy and the British way of life. You must rise up and declare that we will not be bullied into a position of submission to a mad man and a murderer - that we will no longer be led to believe the lies of those who took from us our beloved leaders, and who now seek to steal our most sacred of all possessions: our freedom.

We must fight, and together, having found it within ourselves to protect what we have left and restore what we have lost, we shall be victorious! No tyrant in history has ever withstood the masses of the people, armed with the determination to retain for themselves their freedom of self-determination.

Join me, Britons! Fight to save what is ours, and restore what we have lost! Fight!

On Tonight's Broadcast: Discontent in France as First French Republic rises in Louisiana

PARIS. Activist groups in France have spoken out against Parliament following reports that a legitimate extension of the former nation of France has sprouted up in the Southern United States. Though not on the level of last year's Anarchy Protests that left 17 people dead and scores injured, the surge in these groups activity have caused the local government some concern.

Pro-independence groups in France and elsewhere have been keen to point out the disproportionate representation afforded to them in Parliament. The traditional regions of the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland) hold nearly 75% of the current seats in Parliament, yet have less than half the population. The remaining 25% of seats are poorly spread amongst the 50 million citizens of France, Ireland, and Canada. This has for a very long time left a sour taste in the mouths of the Empire's non-English/Scottish/Welsh subjects.

But, changes are in the works. In accordance with the Incorporation Act of 1999, all subjects of the British Empire are extended full British citizenship, and enjoy the civil rights and privileges afforded to any mainland Britisher. Parliamentary elections are held in all areas, affording the citizens of areas outside the British Isles representation in Parliament. But under the proposed Reorganization Act making its way through Parliament right now, a fairer, more modern system would replace the arguably out-dated Incorporation system.

Under the new Act, proposed by the Queen and championed by the Lib Dems, Parliamentary representation would be broken down into six regions (England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, and Canada), with seats based upon the population of each region. Seats would be reapportioned according to the census to ensure consistency amongst the division.

Additionally, in the Queen's apparent desire to shrink the political power of the Peerage and the Church, the House of Lords (whose assent in this Act is not required, and likely will not be sought) would reduced to fewer than 100 members, and would be built around special representatives (styled "Lord Protectors" in the proposal) from each region.

It is unknown whether these changes will be enough to satisfy the worsening mood of the French. Though affording them full and fair representation in Parliament, the desire to return to a fully French state may be too great to retain them within the Empire. Several ministers, including the out-spoken conservative Minister of Defense, Stanley Winston, have commented that as subjects of the British Empire, they would never be freely permitted to "leave" the Empire and join another state. The Prime Minister, tactically, has declined to comment on such possibilities, though this clearly indicates that there is concern within the Cabinet that the French may attempt to break away and join this new French Empire.

On Tonight's Broadcast: Conservatives threaten to dissolve Unity government

The Tory leadership in Parliament has announced that they will end the present Unity government with the Liberal Democrats if Prime Minister Hugh MacLean does not appoint a Conservative member to the post of Minister of Defense before the end of the week. The post was vacated earlier this month after the Prime Minister removed Stanley Winston from the post after a series of derogatory remarks aimed at the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. The Prime Minister has not yet appointed anyone to the post.

Mr. Winston's appointment was originally considered a "deal-breaker" in post-election negotiations to form the current Unity government. Winston, a senior member of the Tory party, was the highest-ranking Tory member of the British Cabinet until his removal. Though not officially sanctioned by the Tories, the Conservative leadership did not object to the grounds for his removal. Tory support is important for the Lib Dems to win passage for the Queen's Reorganization Act, with a major, potentially final vote scheduled for Friday morning. It is likely that, if MacLean does not place a Tory in the post by then, the Tories will vote against the bill.

While the debate continues over who should succeed Winston as Minister of Defense, the Canadian Union Party, which took 17% of the vote in January's Parliamentary elections, has moved to strengthen its position in Parliament. It badly wants a post in the Cabinet, and with the recent vacancy, their leadership has pushed hard to nominate a CUP official to the post. The CUP has dangled the possibility of a guaranteed vote for the Reorganization Act if one of its officials is posted, which would be enough for the Lib Dems to secure passage of the bill without Tory support.
