http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/19/world/19military.html?ref=world I don't think it's going to happen but I can't help but wonder what the response would be if North Korea fired a missile toward Hawaii that was either intercepted or didn't hit anything. Would war be inevitable? |

If they do fire it, it will probably be just close enough to startle the U.S., but not actually hit anything. In the event it was intercepted or hit something, it would depend on what China does. It would be suicide to move against China, and even if we got their support, I'm sure China would claim North Korea as some kind of buffer and/or puppet. |

Honestly, I hope they hit something. No deaths, no injuries. But I want that missile to land in Hawaii. Because I'm tired of North Korea, and I want them to place into our hands the legal right to take military action against their country by attacking us first. I'm not advocating an invasion. In our current state, the United States would be an ineffective force against the entire DPRK (and I don't necessarily like the idea of pushing it all off onto the ROK). But bombing their missile sites and other military installations? Wrecking their infrastructure? Sinking their so-called "fleet?" Absolutely. And while we're at it, maybe we can get those two reporters back. I for one wasn't pleased when I heard that two American citizens were going to have to spend the next 12 years in a North Korean labor camp. |
