Ok, anyone out there who could help me with this I would really appreciate it. I need help resolving what happens when I tribute summon a "Monarch" and my opponent activates a card like "Trap Hole" or "Bottomless Trap Hole" or some other card that would destroy my monster. For example, I sacrifice a monster on my side of the field to tribute summon Mobius the Frost Monarch from my hand into face up attack position. My opponent then activates thier face down Bottomless Trap Hole. I know Mobius is going to be removed from play, but do I still get his effect of destroying 2 spell/traps? Mobius's effect is a trigger effect, making it spell speed 1, Bottomless Trap Hole is spell speed 2. But is Bottomless Trap Hole being activated in response to Mobiuses effect or not? I know you cannot activate a card in response (chain to) a summon. But BTH is different. Had I summoned "Summoned Skull" instead of Mobius, my opponent could have still activated BTH, but Summoned Skull has no effect to chain to. So what is BTH being chained to? Or is it actually the first step in the chain? In that case, because BTH is spell speed 2, and Mobius is only 1, does Mobius's effect dissolve because spell speed 1 cant chain to spell speed 2? I would really appreciate any help or elaboration on this matter. I hope it wasn't too confusing, thankyou in advance.

If this card is chained to the effect of one of the Monarchs, the Monarch is removed from play, and then its effect resolves normally. A Monarch does not have to remain on the field for its effect to resolve

Canis is right, the only way to stop the Monarch's effect would be using Divine Wrath.

or stopping the summon itself using "forced back" or "solemn judgement". the other thing would be "pulling the rug" because it stops the effect when it would've been summoned
