Attention! I will make the release dates for Chapters 16 and 17 of the Desert Coral manga official by creating this post. Chapter 16 - Christmas-ish Chapter 17 - New Years-ish Also, I have suggestions on what positions to make for people who wish to help in the translation process. Currently there are only 2 positions: Scanner and Translator. Each are filled by 1 person. My suggestions for the scanner position are: Anyone who has a copy of any of the novels in the series are applicable for joining the position. This is because it would not be right to only have scanned/translated the last two novels of the series. Would it not be better to have the full set? Also, as far as I know, no-one has scanned a Desert Coral manga and has released it onto the internet. This would mean that we would be the first to do so. The position that I am most picky about, the translation position, is the next position that I will talk about. I generally work alone in just about any situation unless I need to work with someone else. Therefore, the only person that I choose to work with as of this moment is "Charizardpal." Whether or not he joins is up to him however by having another translator, better words than the default text may be chosen and many a discussion could be had. Other positions could include a Proofreader to discuss the translator(s) decisions on wording. Someone I would recommend for this position would be "Spice and Wolf." There were other positions that I had in mind the other day, but I have forgotten them. This post will be updated when I can remember again or when other suggestions are made. To be a scanner, one must have a Desert Coral manga as well as some skills in scanning. (Meaning that the scan must generally be clear, readable, and please the eye.) If the DC manga that has been scanned are in the first 3 series, it shall be given to the translator(s) in order to change the text into our own words. This is recommended by me for many reasons, one of which may be to avoid any copyrights that we do not know about. Most likely, if we distribute the licensed version of the manga, we will be breaking a copyright. Therefore I suggest that we release novels 1,2, and 3 on this forum and/or the previous forum only. The other two might be released to some place like Onemanga.com. Of course, there is alot of room for discussion on this topic. Anyway by changing the text we will not be releasing ADV's exact product, simply a version that is similar. By scanning a novel, your name shall be placed onto the credits and your rank shall change to either Scanner or to something similar. I almost forgot to say this: we should make a name for this group. Even if all we will be doing is translation DC manga, it would be better to be called by our team name (scanlation name?) then to be called "that one guy." **THE APPLICATION PROCESS WILL BEGIN ONCE EVERYTHING HAS BEEN REVIEWED AND APPROVED** This might take awhile, ( into next year), as we need time to set up a time and have a thorough discussion. My suggestions on meeting would be to set up an IIRC or to exchange messaging account names such as MSN, AIM etc. The chatbox is nice, but it's capabilities are limited. Having more than one way to contact one another will speed up the process. Please, feel free to comment. Edited by Namakemono, Dec 10 2008, 03:28 PM.

I'm in, I shall be proofreader! I got MSN if you need it you know where to look for it. P.S. Seems like Google has installed a ranking system now. If you have a Google account you can rank up searches you do. |

Yeah I don't use it either--having instant messaging programs running in the background isn't really my thing. I might be able to help with some translating, but I'd probably be a better proofreader/editor. It can take me a long time to figure something out, and since I'm not taking Japanese this semester I expect to become rusty. But still it'd probably be fun to help out where I can. |
