Sorry to disappoint any fans who come here, but I was only able to correct one chapter of Desert Coral before life caught up with me.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=840QH3OG

^Theres the raw for chapter 17 if anyone wants to work with it. (The first 6 pages from chapter 18 are here.) Personally I wouldn't mind translating the chapter...or if someone contacted me about helping someone else to translate it but its just too much work to do everything.

To whoever decides to pick this up and translate this series, you'll need to have at least 4 jobs, maybe needing 4 people:

1) A scanner
2) A Cleaner (to cleanup text bubbles, etc.)
3) A translator
4) And a typesetter (someone to place the translated text in the cleaned bubbles.)[/b]

Good luck to anyone else still interested enough to care, and thanks to the 2-3 dozen people interested in Desert Coral who've chatted with me by email, chat, or the forums here and elsewhere over the years. I sincerely appreciated the fun and lively company.

Both Desert Coral v4 and v5 have already been scanned (and released) in japan.. :P

Sadly I have found only LQ version as far. :-/ Example pic:

But I could improve it by softening little:

Or softening a lot:

If some one plans to edit them, it's better to enlarge it first and then soften (I think):
LINK

All I did was to use Topaz DeJPEG(freeware) Photoshop filter to soften. This is first time I have used it, so I guess it could do better quality with proper settings.

If you want I can upload those (LQ) vols to mediafire.
Uploaded! ^_^
v4 http://www.mediafire.com/file/z1h51y1kkz4/Desert Coral v4 raw.zip
v5 http://www.mediafire.com/file/rzgwjwlrn0e/Desert Coral v5 raw.zip

About those ch16 PSD files. By free registering to megaupload you can upload over 1G files. Unregisted can upload 500MB so you could upload it in two files as splitted zip file.
But if uploading proves difficult then let's just forget it. Fact is that I'm starting to be quite busy myself...

I just remembered where I found those scans.

Thanks for the find and I didn't know you could upload a whole gigabyte onto MF...but when I tried registering and uploading it turned out that to upload more than 100 MB you need to pay a monthly subscription. Unfortunately too, those manga scans are actually in Chinese (so I can't read it)...Yeah its too bad that life's going to force the DC thing to finally die, 3 years after the first forum here opened....r.i.p. No complaints for me if you do...

I did edit that chapter, but at the halfway I noticed that my photoshop didn't recognize used fonts! ^o) It either wiped the fonts or gave 00000000000 text.
Now, I like editing images but typesetter I ain't. :-/

But I will gladly tell how to do editing. :D
Anyway, first you need to get fonts which were used in typesetting. So ask those from charizardpal.

here are the photoshop actions and filters I recommend you to use.
LINK
To install actions just right click and open in photoshop.

The first editing:
Here's what result will look like except hopefully with better fonts:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HRKRVSY8 (leveled chapter)
Actions are easy to customaze, read photoshop help for more details.
To reshape action you need to have some image open in photoshop. Press alt+F9 to see actions menu. Click arrow next to set (folder icon) to see actions. Press arrow next to action to see it's functions. Then douple click function to change it's properties.
For example: open set Coral1, open action15, douple click Save. The file format and save location you used will now be new settings.

After opening image press F4.
That should (if all proper fonts were installed) give text anti-aliasing and turn image black and white.
Then you have to level. You will have to do it manually since brighness settings differ in images. You will find it in: Image > Adjustments > Levels
Simply view image at full size, find a spot which should be black and move black arrow to the right until it is. Then find a spot which should be white and move white arrow to the left until it is. If grays in the image seem too dark, you can lighten them by moving gray arrow to the left.
Then press F6 to save image.

The second editing
http://rapidshare.com/files/276172816/Desertcoral16_edit2.zip.html (resized chapter)
There are no good ways to resize, but this one is one of the easiest.

First install topazvivacity to your photoshop plug-ins.
Then make a folder and copy to there all images you wish to resize. Images in that folder will be replaced with resized ones.
Then (in photoshop) File > Automate > Batch.
Select the set named Coral2. Then select that folder. Select destination to: save and close. press OK
It will now edit all the images in that folder at one go.

If you wish to save to jpg I recommend using proJPEG, if like png more read this. There really ain't much of a difference.

Just skimmed both edited scans. Glad the reddish tint on page 24 was removed, and the images look a bit more uniform in color. The double pages 2 and 3 aren't separated any more into four pages total, (I think I split them into separate pages without saving the PSD file), but that's immaterial. Also some font on page 18 didn't display correctly, not that its important, its just unimportant sound effects (you can tell by the picture alone whats going on) and all that font could easily be omitted. Except for page 18's glitch in the font, overall the greater contrast makes KtK's version a bit easier to read...

Only thing different to original in edit1 is basically the fact that it's turned b&w and leveled. And don't belittle your fonts. Those are what gives manga it's soul.

I know that what I should do, would be to get those fonts and redo chapter. But my group's wonderful cropper will bite my head off if I don't start working for my own group and soon...

Spice. I do advice you to get photoshop. It's rather essential for amatour image editing. And easy to get in pirate way: DC++ or torrent.
