Hell Gates: Are Gates with direct links to hell. They are not controlled by any one demon unlike a Hell Portal which can only be activated by a certain Demon (Diablo's portal which can only be activated by Diablo or those with his blood is an example) hell gates are generally opened to take in souls that have passed away after a certain amount of time. Every half a century or so the gates open by themselves pulling in the souls of those who have died in that area to clense the earth. However, Hellgates can be forced opened by means of black magic and a high number of human sacrifices. Nearly 2000 untainted souls are needed to open a single Hellgate. Once the Hell Gate is opened a Guardian appears to protect the gate from those that would destroy it. If a Hellgate is forced open demons, any demons can come through with nearly no problem. The only way to destroy a gate is to kill the guardian first. There are a total of 9 gates. 5 Large gates 3 smaller gates and the largest gate which is the main entrance to hell. Main Gate: This is the main entrance to hell and is typically only seen after crossing the river styx in pergurtory. Gurdian: Cereberus Great Beast: The Great Beasts are the five monsterous beasts that guard the Five hellgates. Each of the beast is not so much a demon but is a monster that was created in hell using black magic and demon souls. The Great Beasts protect the five smaller hellgates connected the Earth. (Not to be confused with Hell portals controlled by actual demons such as Alastor). The five beasts corrosponde with the five classic elements. Fire, Earth, Aether, Air, Water. Each of the beast exhibit strength near equal to that of a Mazoku and can not be bargined with. The only answer to the person that has opened their gates. It is also impossible to defeat the beast using the element they control as it will only feed them and nothing else. The Five Great Beast are what the Greeks referred to as the Titans. The Five Beast are: (still looking for pics for most of them) Fire: Sphinx (Hyperion) Water: Hydra (Oceanus) Air: Griffin (Oranos) Earth: Serpent (Gaia) Aether/Void: Nothing takes on the characteristics and appearance of whomever it is fighting(?) Lesser Beast: The Lesser Beast are the three Beast that guards the smaller of the gates. They are based on secondary elements, electricity, time and ice. Like the five great beast these creatures too cannont be defeated using thier elements against them. It will only make them much more powerful though not mythilogical creatures like their counterparts. They are all over sized demonic versions of Earthly creatures. The Three Beast are: Electricity: Demon Eel (Gigapede) Ice: Demon Toad (Dagon) Time: Demon Horse (Geyron) If a person with enough power defeat these creatures they can not only close the gate they guard but they maybe able to utilize the creature's power.
