"...So," Kanrel Tagien concluded, above the uproar of nearby politicians, "what is our consensus? All in favour of providing aid to these 'aliens', raise your hands." 116 hands raise almost simultaneously. "All not in favour of sending aid out, raise your hands." 97 hands are raised. "Well..." continued Kanrel, "it looks like it is decided. We will provide food, clothing and other essentials to the 'aliens'. This is expected to cost well over $5 million and will create some strain on our already stretched budget. No objections?" No hands are raised. "We will also send out short-range radios and will send several research teams over. Teams that could be researching better tsunami protection technology, for that matter. Still no objections?" Nothing. Kanrel gathered his papers and hurried out of the room, fuming. He walked into a small meeting chamber. "This is..." **one hour later** "Ridiculous!" shouted Kanrel, "these 'aliens' are just freaks trying to put on a show. Can't the government even see that? Why do we have to spend so much on aid? The defence budget is at an all time low, you know." "We know," replied a tired-looking man sitting nearby, "you've been ranting on about this for an hour now. Honestly, if you hate this project so much, why don't you just break it. Just shut up and go-" "That's it!" shouted Kanrel, nearly jumping out of his seat with excitement, "These so-called 'scientists' will need an escort team, right?" "Yes?" "Well, our special ops. might just do the trick. A few misunderstood orders and..." "And end to the situation?" the man offered. "Yes!" Kanrel replied, "we get our money for defence and this stupid 'alien' scam will disappear. issue the orders. Special ops. team no. 1 is going on a plane direct to the Durkhiem Mountains. Their orders: protect from anything even possibly dangerous." "Yes, Mr. Taigen" |

After reviewing the footage, the team had gotten together and outlined their next moves. The video was not the best in quality, but Dr. Verrara and the others could clearly make out at least one humanoid figure, barely visible on the playback. Supplies were somewhat dwindling, and so despite having quite a hefty load of emergency rations and aid it was decided that 4 out of the 20 team members would return to Alpyrea to procure more just in case. The remaining crew consisted of one pilot, Edith; six medical workers, including Maya herself; Ceera, Manuel, and Olivia, the three researchers; and six general aid workers, all of whom Maya had handpicked after working with and getting to know them after the 2013 tropical storm and the resulting call for general volunteers at the hospital. With the one remaining helicopter, Edith, Maya, Manuel, and two of the other medical workers would fly out to the area where the figure was spotted and try to find it again. If they successfully located them, hopefully they could get in contact and render any immediate medical aid and attention. In the meantime, everyone else would reorganize the camp in preparation for any medical treatment, relocation, and supply shipment. With this plan in mind, the scouting team lifted off just as dawn broke over the eastern horizon of the Mountains. (OOC: a bit of filler and advance info for others to plan around/with) |
