Hello and good [whatever segment of the day it is] to you. This is my first time in one of these meetings so I'm going to try and just dive right in. I would say the region is at a bit of a low point. Low response rates in the last two elections, slow growth, its going to take weeks to get enough WA endorsements to make me delegate, nobody on the forum. This should be a time of change as we try to address this. The theme for this cabinet is going to be suggestions for that change. I encourage all of you to suggest and undertake projects that you think will help. To kick start this, an agenda (more suggestions and desires than orders) follows: President/Delegate I'm open to suggestions to raise our international recognition by: -Running polls on WA proposals before they come to vote so that we can vote earlier and allow us to comment on our position on the forums -Being available at request of cabinet members to make public statements- let people know what we think about events in interregional politics As a little personal touch, I'd like suggestions for ambassadors for a DSA delegation to the WA- give me a character (name, picture, mannerisms) fro your nation and whatever area (resolution categories) they focus on. It will give some variety to our representation there as well as show your own nation off. Secretary General I'd like a look at our census data- how much of our population is puppets? What's our WA vs non puppet ratio The blurb at the top of the forum is annoyingly large and inconvenient to scroll past every time you open the page. A large part of it serves the same purpose as the forum index page, with all its links to different forums. I think those can be lost. Minister of Domestic Affairs Corroborate with with the Secretary General to simplify the forum. We have too many sub forums for our activity, the page just looks kind of messy with all of them and its difficult to navigate. I think its part of our lackluster activity. Do whatever you feel is appropriate to increase activity, of course. Minister of Foreign Affairs I'd like to have a summary of your ambassador reports on a biweekly basis so we an determine if the cabinet's opinion on the matter is necessary. Encourage your ambassadors do make their own comments but ensure it's clear they do it with their authority as DSA ambassador (as in non executive opinion). A standard signature for their ambassadorial postings might help. Minister of Immigration A couple weeks ago, I rolled a couple of nations intended to lean center left, hoping to attract DSA attention. None of them got a recruitment telegram. The parameters of our auto recruiter may need to be updated, broadened even. Minister of Justice Get elected. Minister of Role Play I'd like to review how our map is done. It doesn't make sense to me that we encompass the entire globe. I'd like to look at the possibility of dividing up our map into sectors. Its something put out on the RMB some time ago. Let some of our veterans or those who have done service to the DSA describe what they want their surrounding area to look like, make some custom map areas for them and then let people start moving. It would be a lot of work. I'd be open to helping as needed. I like making maps. |

Pardon my absence. I've been visiting Oklahoma pretending capitalism didn't require my constant presence.25 days ago. It was https://www.nationstates.net/nation=tg_holders and https://www.nationstates.net/nation=tg_holder Naturally, they were just made to draw in telegrams and be as leftist as possible with just spending five minutes on set up- so they're not a scientific test. I didn't hear from the Internationale either, or any avowedly leftist regions with the exception of the communist (in name) bloc
Here's what I have an opinion towards: 1, 2) Approval votes would surely cut down on confusion. Abstain can go right out the door since we have a vote for none option. In approval voting, a vote for all would basically be abstain anyway. 3) I'll limit my comments to start with on office merging because I suggested it. I don't know how everyone feels about their level of responsibility and don't have a lot of back ground to go on. I just felt, as an audience member, that I never saw much movement to attribute any sort of envy towards. 5) I was of the opinion that the WA delegate should be making announcements on the WA boards about the regional position and planned on doing such things |

Is our response to a raid codified at any point? I haven't noticed anything allowing immediate ejection of suspicious characters and a couple of raiders just now dropped in |

We may want to contact Kotovania since he still has the powers of the President and Delegate. But they are probably just scoping the region but if more come I am in favor of ejection and lock down. Better safe than sorry... |

Raids won't have much effect on us since we have a founder, and said founder has promised to surrender his nation if he decides to leave NationStates. |

I was wondering what you all thought about finding a editor of some sort to get our regional news paper running? I really like what the Internationale has done and its something I would like to see started in our Great Region. Plus if we do it right it might even help cut the fat from the forum as well...I don't know just a thought

What would we report on in that format? There's real news and opinion pieces of course but does our region have anything to talk about regarding itself? TI will discuss their inter regional drama, military activity, and so on. We don't have that. |

Just checking in -- We're still trying to fill one last ambassadorial position at the moment. I just set up two new ones, CommieWorld and Socialist Great Britain, with VF and SLU respectively. Update: Report from our ambassador to the SLU, Socialist Great Britain: DIPLOMATIC UPDATE, 14/3/15: There has been major political activity in the Social Liberal Union since I settled in. The Federal Republic of Anaaxes was elected for another term as WA Delegate, defeating The Associated Federation of Mons Garle with a landslide of seven votes to zero. Meanwhile, nominations have also been taking place for the Speaker election which will take place on March 18th. The candidates are The Council Republic of North American Republics and The Democratic Republic of Northern Inertia and the nominees are The Zombie Cure Coordinator of United Democracy of Scientists, The Zombie Infested State of Mare Nectaris, The Failed State of Millyland and The United Republics of Trefeqia. So far only the former two have launched major campaigns on the off-site forum. In the RMB two possible threats to regional security have been identified. Firstly, several incidents involving hacking and changing of passwords have been reported in the RMB, and there are some rumours that whoever is behind this may consider our region a potential target as well. Secondly, a small region known only as PCA have declared the SLU "the enemy". So far the majority of nations in the SLU seem to consider this region laughable at best, and since it seems that at least one SLUian is personally acquainted with the members of the PCA there is little to worry about. The two threats seem to be unrelated. In terms of role-play, the Council of Leaders have entered meetings over how to respond to the threats caused by the controversial satirical film "The Candidate" and there is a planned environmental conference to be held in Senmeri, The Kingdom of Chameliya to which several nations have already agreed to send delegates. The Magnificent Kingdom of Avaerilon's idea of a SLUian Parliament for the purposes of roleplay has got some more support behind it since it was roposed quite a while ago. Moving on to the serious business of law, not much has been happening in the SLUian parliament. The Federal Republic of Anaaxes has proposed a bill which, if passed, would strike down Section 2, Clause 5 of the Combined Union Security Act, but this is largely a matter of procedure, since said clause has become obsolete owing to the disappearance of the Founder. The Council Republic of North American Republics has proposed a bill eliminating term limits for the position of Speaker of the SLU, due to the fact that there is little interest in the position and that the Speaker's powers are strictly regulated by the SLUian constitution anyway; the bill has caused little controversy and most users seem to agree with it. From your comrade, The Rt Hon. Sean Webb MP, Prime Minister of The Intellectual Welfare State of Socialist Great Britian and Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Assembly to the Social Liberal Union Edited by Gervase, 14 Mar 2015, 20:31.

Its curious why PCA would come at us as well. Also, its hilarious because PCA couldn't do anything if their entire population raided either us or SLU |

Hello everyone- Just checking in. Defwa, I will get on your request this week and have a report by Friday. I would like for us to do some strategizing about how we can make democratic participation an important part of our region. We have had less than 10 percent voter participation in our elections for some time now, and it is really starting to irk me. What is there to be done? Should we introduce political parties and have a DSA Congress that is elected by the people? Should we have candidates for the executive offices issue public statements on what they would do as (insert office here)? Is there more that we could do to promote elections in the DSA? I am going to spend this week thinking on this stuff. One thing is for certain: I plan on introducing an amendment during this Cabinet that would limit IRV only to elections where there are three or more candidates, and that would also eliminate the "Abstain" option for elections. It makes no sense to have that option when they can simply hit "Vote For None of These", and it increases the likelihood of ties and runoffs. |
