Living in the Democratic Socialist Assembly, it can be concluded that most of us claim the title of Social Democrat or Democratic Socialist. But what may be different is our definition of a social democracy. Now this may seem obvious to some, it is not to me so I wanted to hear from our residents. How do you define Social Democracy?

I know that individuals much smarter than I have written countless papers and books on this questions, I am more interested in what you all think because after all, politics is a personal expression of ones ideal future IMO.

I don't know any political science theory.
That being said, for me, Social Democracy is exactly what the name says:
- a democracy, meaning that power is in the hands of the people, and by power I mean the power to decide their own fate
- social, meaning that the ones who rule (elected by the people, if it'a a democracy, see above), and by rule I mean taking executive decisions, decisions which influence the whole community, have as their first priority the well-being of the people. It should not matter what the scope of the decision is; the question first asked should be: how does a decision on this issue best benefit the people who make up the community?
