Greetings to you, my fellow Comrades of the twelfth Cabinet of the DSA! :)

I congratulate you all for being elected/reelected to your Cabinet positions and I eagerly look forward to working with all of you this term.

I would like everyone to review your job descriptions in the Charter. I encourage all first-timers to freely ask any and all questions about your ministerial duties, either here or by telegram with those who have held your position in the past. If you think you will have difficulty fulfilling your duties, I encourage you to appoint an adviser and/or request help from volunteers in the Government Jobs subforum.

Below is my agenda for this term. I invite each of you to provide any feedback and to also provide any additional ideas or initiatives that you would like for your Ministries to pursue over the next 75 days.

I will be busy in RL this term and will not be around as much as I'd like to be. However, I aim to be available to answer questions and check in with your Ministries at least once a week (usually weekends).

Without further ado, my agenda:

Office of the President and WA Delegate:
1. Regional Polls: I would like us to have a much better picture of how residents see the region and their place in it so that we can target initiatives that will increase activity and boost morale.

2. Featured 5: I will renew the weekly roster. This boosts morale and increases dialogue and intrigue between Comrades; so I will make sure to do this regularly.

Office of the Secretary General:
1. Audit the congressional roster in the Forum; make updates to roles/statuses as necessary.
2. Organize an evaluation of the 11th Cabinet.
3. If you wish, appoint an adviser to help point you in the right direction.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
1. Draft and deliver formal apology to the residents of the old Alliance for the trespasses of New Puppy City.
2. Offer your recommendations for accepting/rejecting current embassy requests from abroad.
3. Distribute puppets to allied regions and announce your new position with a warm greeting from your ministry and the DSA.
4. Review current alliances and their regional statuses; compile brief intelligence report for the Cabinet.
5. Give recommendations for closure of embassies (if any) and/or new alliances to form (if any).

Ministry of Immigration and Regional Promotion:
1. Keep up the good work! Despite heavy losses due to mass-CTE, our region still hovers around 285 - a significant improvement from the recent past.
2. Keep the Cabinet updated about any interregional or world-wide conferences, or anything else that you think would be a good venue in which to promote our region.

Ministry of Justice:
1. Remedy any loose ends left from the previous Minister between their untimely absence and now.
2. Audit region for Charter compliance and begin proceedings for violators, if any. Report findings directly to the Secretary General so that they may update the Congressional Roster accordingly.

Ministry of Domestic Affairs:
1. Host a new discussion/debate in the Forum and advertise it in both Solidarity and with posts on the RMB.
2. Hold a contest for anything you'd like. In the past we have done things like best factbook entry, best flag, best motto, etc.
3. In the RMB, personally welcome newcomers with a quick post.
4. Compile a new daily or weekly bulletin (like the DDD or Proletariat Press) to summarize things that are going on in the Forum, the NS World, and RL as well.

Ministry of Role Play:
1. Map updates if any.
2. Solidify or create new notes for the regional LCD currency.
3. Introduce a resolution for the DSA Parliament.
4. Host a new RP activity in the Forum.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions. I encourage you to put forth your new ideas and discussion. I wish you all a successful and enjoyable term :)

I'm in full support of closing the embassy. I also think passwording the region may be a good idea right now, but I'm also a bit hesitant.

What does it take to get good service from the admins here? We've a stack of Congress membership requests a few weeks high. And its really starting to smell too...

Sorry, I've been a little busy as of late. (Whoops!) I'll get right on it!
EDIT: Done! I'll also conduct an automatic audit of all Charter Members for residency and compliance before nominations for the next Cabinet begin.

With regards to the R/D-military-thing, I agree that impressions and sentiment are very important. Its perceived neutrality and limited official engagement in R/D gameplay is one aspect of the DSA I personally quite like, especially when compared with other leftist regions.

I've followed the CAPS invasion closely. I've been part of the very poorly organized defence. CAPS had no chance. Of course, it's mostly due to the non-exec founder. I think that in our case, with an active founder AND 70+ endorsements, we can defend ourselves without the use of a password.

But this is ONLY possible if our founder reacts very fast when the invasion starts and banjects the invaders.

At this point in time I would even welcome an invasion; maybe it's time we show TCB and their allies that they can't just always have their way, destroying everything in their path. Yes, I blame Zenny's TCB more than I blame Libertatem.

One more thing: we should do this alone. It seems that Libertatem has plenty of spies in important positions within leftist regions (or at least so they brag). This means that:
a) we should probably not ask for help from allies just yet
b) if we password-protect, we should not share this password with our allies, and surely not with all our comrades in the region (it should not be public for the residents)

@ Borq:

No, I feel an invasion is the last thing we want to do. It takes away endorsements from the WAD here which comprises our best initial defense against potential invasion. It also would make the DSA an aggressor in this mess since we have no empirical evidence that anyone wants to cause us any harm.

Beyond that, going on the offensive is antithetical to our regional interests and a violation of our Charter since the DSA is a pacifist region. We can defend an ally but not attack an enemy. Hostility from us will be used (rightly so) to justify further aggression towards the DSA by those on the right who, up to this point, have left us alone because we don't antagonize them - we cannot go down that path.

If you want a piece of the CAPS invasion force, please act on your own volition and not in any way as a representative of the DSA. I would also ask that you not use the nation of Borq to engage militarily since that nation is representative of the Cabinet and needs to remain in the DSA during the term of your service.

Also: I have notified Opalaland via TG what happened in CAPS and asked that they be at the ready in the near future in case anything does happen.

In no way did I suggest we should invade anything :)
I just said that us, as opposed to CAPS, don't have to worry about being invaded.

Oh, I see where you could have misunderstood. I meant I would welcome an invasion by them in DSA, because we are very well able to defend ourselves and send them back where they came from. Please re-read my post with this in mind.

Words... can get confusing at times.

OK. I reread my post and it's not clear. Here, please see it bellow, with adnotations. Sorry for any confusion:

I've followed the CAPS invasion closely. I've been part of the very poorly organized defence [with a new puppet]. CAPS had no chance. Of course, it's mostly due to the non-exec founder.
[now we move back to the original topic, us being in danger of being attacked]: I think that in our case, with an active founder AND 70+ endorsements, we can defend ourselves without the use of a password.
[again, about our defence]
But this is ONLY possible if our founder reacts very fast when the invasion starts and banjects the invaders.
[again, about our defence]
At this point in time I would even welcome an invasion; maybe it's time we show TCB and their allies that they can't just always have their way, destroying everything in their path. Yes, I blame Zenny's TCB more than I blame Libertatem.
[again, about our defence]
One more thing: we should do this alone [the defence, i mean, instead of calling for outside help from allies].

I hope it's a bit clearer now. I was in a hurry when I wrote it first time. Also, with the previous discussion about a military defence force in mind, I can see how you might have thought I went bananas and wanted to jump into a war. Nay, create one!

I am fully in support of closing the embassy with CAPS. We have no other choice at this point as far as I see it. Has anyone contacted Opalaland to make sure they're aware of the situation?

By the way, does anyone have any insight as to why a nominally communist region is partnering with libertarians to raid pan-left institutions?

I should also point out that VF has an embassy with Glorious Nations of Iwaku, which has apparently participated in this raid. I am considering making some sort of statement to their government to the effect that we find that association alarming.

Right. Glorious Nations of Iwaku was indeed an active part of the raid, providing at least 7 soldiers. No idea why, they were not active about their reasons on the RMB.
With The Communist Bloc, it's a longer story. Their leader (President & Dear Leader, to be exact reg. her title; also Minister of Defence), Zenya, seems to have somehow been personally offended by someone in CAPS (presumably Teski), when they refused a mysterious offer of hers. Acting more or lees like a spoiled child, she decided to join the CAPS raid, together with Libertatem, with whom TCB now opened an embassy. Her people love her (no idea why), so they provided a lagre part of the force: at least 13 soldiers, more than any other region.
The raid itself was officially organized and planned by REATO ("Does your region love freedom? Do you want to put a stop to totalitarian conquest? Are you tired of seeing your friends get invaded? Join REATO today!"). The official reason for the raid was that it was an anti-totalitarian, anti-statist, and pro-freedom raid. That CAPS was a danger, due also to the word "ARMED" in its name.
That's what I understood from the whole thing. I hope it's helpful. it's as accurate as any intel can be, based on RBM talks in the various regions involved.

Zenny is like that crazy that kills her boyfriend out of "affection" after he breaks up with her.

I'm also worried that this thread on our own forums may provide her with some weird, distorted motive for disliking us, and maybe even me personally:
