The Parliament of the DSA; Not to be confused with the similarly named, but worse, Congress of the DSA

So I was updating the numbers in my fancy election results webpage (http://goo.gl/wW9huX) when I had a brainwave: (or possibly a brain-flop)
What are everyone's thoughts on a (RP) just-for-fun ‘DSA Parliament’, à la the NS World Cup? Enter one (or a hundred) political parties, roleplay to win voters, and screw around (or not) passing legislation like the ‘Free Nuclear Weapons for Kiptoke Act’.

Introduction
Tyranny has been overthrown in the ‘DSA’!* Democracy has triumphed, and the first Parliament of the DSA will be elected in mere days! Emerging from the ashes of revolution, many newly formed political parties are stretching their metaphorical wings, vying for support. And by ‘political parties’, I mean you.

*Not to be confused with ‘the actual DSA’.

Let's Do This!
Any election, of course (save NorthBest Korean ones) needs candidates, generally organized by political party. Create your political party by replying to this thread, including a brief (or mind-numbingly long, if you so desire) electoral platform/campaign/manifesto, perhaps in the form of a webpage or news article.

Then begin creating raising awareness for your political party, by releasing statements, perhaps as a media release or interview transcript. The more roleplay your party engages in, the more support it will gain, and the more voters it will receive at an election!

Bonus points awarded for senseless attacks on engagement with other parties, relevance to current events (both real-world and any RP-specific events manufactured from time-to-time) and blatant hypocrisy.

Brief Example
The Liberal Progressive Party

DSA CAPITOL – The DSA today celebrated the campaign launch of the Liberal Progressive Party, the first official political party to contest the upcoming Parliamentary election. According to the leader of the Liberal Progressive Party, Ted Andrews, ‘[the Party] aims to support the freedoms and rights of all residents of the DSA in conducting their day-to-day lives with privacy and dignity.’

According to the Liberal Progressive Party's campaign website, the Party supports social liberal principles.

Election Results
  • Nuclear Escalation Party: 17 seats (total 55)
    • One Hundred Percent Serious Party: 38 seats

  • Communist Party: 1 seat (total 42)
    • Brechtist-Eislerist Workers' United Front: 36 seats
    • Partido Socialismo y Libertad: 5 seats

  • Liberal Progressive Party: 2 seats
  • United Front for Assembly Progress: 1 seat

Additional Notes
  • You can create as many or as few political parties as you wish, but bear in mind that effectively micromanaging lots of parties may become difficult.
  • Parties will often be referred to in official documentation by an abbreviation. If you have any particular request for an abbreviation, make sure to include it somewhere.
  • If a political party proposes to conditionally do something, and another party meets that condition (regardless of any additions), the first party must accept. Be careful what you wish for!

Comrade Jaap Verveer officially announces the formation of the Brechtist-Eislerist Workers' United Front. A Marxist party with Leninist influences using the weapons of song and play to combat the oppression of the working class.

Kiptokian Diplomat, Tylor Rymskap, has decided to form:

The Nuclear Escalation Party!

All for the furthering of research and production of nuclear weapons!

Oh, and social rights and all that stuff.

Also, have a large political issue? We'll always answer disproportionally!

Tylor, John stole one of my pens...

Event
The South Jarvis Times

DSA CAPITOL – Following a recent controversial court case which resulted in the exile of a high profile politician, crowds have taken to the streets outside the Supreme Court building in protest, causing widespread disruption and temporarily shutting down large parts of the city. For more, see page 6.

Quick! Blame someone!

Opinion Poll Results
The South Jarvis Times

The South Jarvis Times Political Analysis department surveyed a portion of eligible voters within the DSA and found the following results:

  • BWF: 30.7%
  • LPP: 28.0%
  • NEP: 26.2%
  • Undecided: 15.1%
These results show a very close race between the three main political parties, with the remaining 15% of mainly centrist voters in a crucial position to determine the outcome of the upcoming election.

Anyway... Saint Jamesian comedian Lua Mori has announced that he will found the One Hundred Percent Serious Party of the Democratic Socialist Assembly!

We are one hundred percent serious! After all, who else would demand a leopard in every home and a clown in every school? Because you know it makes sense. And we don't stop there! We demand that the parliament building be replaced with a bouncy castle and that all the cockroaches be deported to Mars.

So if you like bouncy castles and hate cockroaches, vote One Hundred Percent Serious!

Life can seem impossible

For a Revolutionary Socialist Assembly!

Press Release
For immediate dissemination to the workers' press agencies of the DSA.

The Provisional Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Democratic Socialist Assembly [CPDSA] hereby announces its formation and intention to run in the upcoming elections for the regional parliament.

Our programme is simple:
I. The socio-economic integration of the DSA on the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, and subsequently the democratically planning of production for need, rather than profit, of life's material necessities.
II. The political unification of: a) the working class, under the Communist Party, and b) the DSA, under a workers' government - for the purposes of accelerating point I of the CPDSA programme.

At this time, we do not feel that the DSA parliament is an effective vehicle for implementing this programme. Participation in the elections will be for the purposes of agitation and propaganda, and to provide a fighting leadership to the proletarians and all subaltern social strata of the region.

Our tentative immediate demands, to be publicised in the election campaign are:
I. The creation of national and local sections of the CPDSA throughout all member-states by communists, revolutionary socialists and working-class militants, so as to allow the Provisional Central Committee to make way for an elected leadership.
II. The enthusiastic participation of CPDSA activists in the mass organisations of the working class in their respective states, for the purposes of securing the highest possible political consciousness and mobilisation of our class, and a common strategic orientation across the region.

*Addendum (for new CPDSA branches only): Begin sourcing and (if possible) acquisition of small arms. Identify and monitor likely initiators of anti-communist violence and terror.

The Brechtist-Eislerist Workers' United Front would like to propose working together with the Communist Party of the Democratic Socialist Assembly, potentially leading to coalition governments containing the two parties.

In reaction to this recent event, the Brechtist-Eislerist Workers' United Front fully condemns the authority that expelled this politician. According to trustworthy sources of us in the DSA Capitol, it is clear that this man was expelled for his revolutionary socialist, workerist, libertyist and above all workers-of-the-world-unite-ist points of view. We call for all our party comrades to join in the protest in the name of the great people's ism against the oppressive government forces.

No mercy for the oppressors!

After much deliberation, the governing coalition in the Democratic Republic of Upright Workers has decided to form a regional party to contest elections in the Democratic Socialist Assembly. This party, the United Front for Assembly Progress, will do for the DSA what they have done for the DRUW: push for the daily advancement of the working class and the communities that have nurtured their growth, ensure that the DSA remains NationStates' most vibrant region of the Left, and solidify the DSA as a bulwark against the social and structural inequalities that punctuate far too many regions on NS.

Populism over politics. Communities over capital. The UFAP for the Assembly.
