Obligatory 10 second entrance.. There are many before me (and after me) who have held the title of President. Many of whom have served well, and far beyond the standard that is common for NationStates. I hope to live up to our standards and not just the usual NS status quo. Before I sound off on any campaign promises, I have to be frank with all of you. I did not seek this position for a pretty title and a sense of celebrity. I view it as a burden of responsibility. And as I seek candidacy as President of the new cabinet, I have kept that in mind, knowing full well what it entails. Hopefully the fears and pressures of the job will keep me focused on the tasks at hand, rather than discourage me. There may be times where I will need a hand and a little cheerleading. And I'll probably need to be filled in on the presidential duties and procedures like when and where to make threads, etc. I realize that's not terribly reassuring, but I'd rather get that out there and be honest with myself. Now on to the good stuff! Here are the functions that I can easily deliver on with little effort: - Not saying or doing stupid stuff that reflects poorly on the region - Being present during the big update - Keeping in the loop on proposals and interpreting them - Manually aiding in recruitment where needed My hopeful objectives are as follows: The major ones (I will likely need some briefing and support) - Pick up on where we left off on our interregional alliance - Pursue the left-defender organization - Reinvigorate regional activity and with our embassies, so to remedy the decline in population The minor ones - Working with the Secretary General to streamline our forums: consolidating redundant threads, removing clutter, and reorganizing to make them easier to navigate overall - Adopt a regional IRC chat, with the appropriate priviledges, to offload some of the chatter from our RMB - Attempt to get headstarts on WA proposals by discussing them ahead of time Wishful thinking - Perhaps find a way to lessen the workload future cabinet members, so that they aren't deterred by reading that make their eyes glaze over - Revive the Solidarity newsletter, if only as a means of historical recounting or for roleplay As summarized from some of the objectives above, I'd like to reduce the learning curve so that we can get more fresh blood willing and able to volunteer and carry out their duties. Moreover, just deal with whatever comes my way, and welcome and encourage any new ideas that cabinet ministers may have. I'd rather not set up a rigid agenda that makes others drop what they're doing, nor sit back and expect everyone else to do all the work. I feel like it's good policy to keep ears, doors and options open. Edited by Ratateague, 3 Apr 2014, 19:01.
