The Official Electoral Platform of The Democratic States of Terlibe's Bid for the Position of Minister of Foreign Affairs

When I arrived here in the DSA, about 16 months ago, I had no idea how much I would enjoy my time here or how involved I would become. That was during the Third Cabinet (it seems like so long ago). In the next election, I ran for Minister of Cartography (precursor to Minister of Role Play) and unexpectedly won. My first experience in the Cabinet was fantastic, and I learned a great deal. Since then, I consecutively served one term as Secretary General and four terms as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The "Goods:"

In case you can't tell, I am very interested if Foreign Relations. During these four terms, I oversaw the opening of three embassies, two of which remain aligned with us today (the Union of Democratic Leftist States and the Versutian Federation), the third eventually dying out and being abandoned. More recently, I contacted the representatives of three of the regions in NS that are our closest friends, the SLU, the UDLS, and the VF. I brought the idea of a massive inter-regional alliance. This idea, as many of you know, is in the works today, although quite slowly. I'll admit I have not been very involved in those discussions as most of the nations involved know much more than I do about creating an NS alliance and how it would work. I hope to see this alliance come together soon, but I do not expect it to be completed during this term.

The "Not-so-goods:"

On top of the embassy openings, I also oversaw some heartbreaking embassy closures. The Communist International League and the United People's Front for Socialism both cut ties with the DSA after a dispute with The Internationale. This I consider a great failure on my part. These two regions were long-time friends of the DSA and under my watch, our relations fell apart. I have learned from mistakes I have made, and no such incident has occurred since. Infact, DSA-TI relations have greatly improved, however this is a result of the effort of many nations from both sides. I am still learning many things, as I am still a relatively young nation, and I hope to learn much much more.

The "Behind the Scenes:"

Apart from the embassy openings and closures, the forum side of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also very important. I tried, during each my terms, to focus on something particular. In my first term, I initiated a complete overhaul of the Ambassador system. I created offices for each of our ambassadors and an area on the forum where were we can keep track of who our current ambassadors are ( http://s1.zetaboards.com/DemocraticSocialist/forum/1706887/ ). In my second term, I noticed, I changed the embassy requirements in a way that I felt more accurately represented our desires. I also added a "suggestions" section (

As a result, I created the first Diplomatic Corps Policy ( http://s1.zetaboards.com/DemocraticSocialist/topic/5220187/1/#new ), a part of this being a weekly report by the ambassadors, TG'd to the MFA about the happenings in their assigned region. This idea has worked well, although we are in the process of hiring ambassadors at this time, so the reports aren't coming in.

I hope I haven't disappointed too many of you while I have been MFA of the DSA for the past four terms, or the two non-MFA terms before that. But if you think I did a good job, I'd be honored to serve you a fifth time!

If not, I will be happy to work with the new MFA and help them get their feet wet, if they'd like!

Thank you.
