To my comrades of the Ninth Cabinet of the DSA, greetings!

I wish to congratulate all of you on being elected or reelected your respective posts in the Cabinet and look forward to working with all of you during this term. Below you will find the issues that I would like the Cabinet to discuss and commit to as its shared agenda. However, all of you are free and encouraged to provide any feedback, ideas and initiatives you would like the Cabinet to pursue over the coming weeks.

For all newcomers, the purpose of these meetings is to discuss issues facing the region as a whole and receive status updates from ministers on their duties in the region. I shall ask each of you to regularly (preferably at least once every week or two) update the Cabinet on the status of your ministries and share any concerns. I shall provide each ministry with a small list of items to address, though you need not discuss all of these at once as long as you get to each of them eventually.

With that being said and without further delay, I declare open this meeting of the Ninth Cabinet.

---Agenda---

1. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum
If you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum.

2. Munificent Interregional Alliance (Continuation of IRALL)
The Alliance treaty is currently in the drafting stage on the NS forums. Our responsibility is to draw up the government section of the treaty. Once the entire treaty is completed, it will need to be put up for a congressional vote.

3. The World Assembly
I would like to see us acting as a more unified force on World Assembly affairs. This may include the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs, proposed by United Federation of Canada/Chester Pearson, last term or something of that nature. Ideas on this front are more than welcome

4. Interregional Diplomacy
I would again like to see the establishment of new embassies if possible. I would also like to see regular communication with and from our current embassy regions, whose ties we will be strengthening with the Alliance treaty.

5. Congressional Action
Now that we have a formal legislative process set up, I would like to get the ball rolling on proper legislation. One of the ideas brought up during the election was have Congress formally question the Cabinet. Other suggestions are welcome.

6. DSA Role Play Convention
In cooperation with the Minister of Role Play, I would like to see a second round of the DSA Role Play Convention to outline details on the new common currency, a Bank of the DSA, a miniature WA for the DSA and establishing our roleplay history.

7. Reorganising the Forum
To complement new activity in the Court and possible new activity in the Congress, I would like to see the Secretary General and I reorganise the forums under the guidance and recommendations of DSAers.

---Items for individual ministries---

Secretary General (SG):
1. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.).
2. Organise an evaluation of the Eighth Cabinet.
3. Appoint an advisor, if desired.
4. Contact the Scientific States to familiarise yourself with the position.

Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA):
1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD.
2. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with.
3. Monitor ambassadors for potential inactivity.
4. Appoint an advisor, if desired.

Minister of Justice (MoJ):
1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance.
2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any.

Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP):
1. Make sure the auto-telegram system is transferred and working properly.
2. Review and revise recruitment telegram draft.
3. Contact the Suceavija to familiarise yourself with the position.

Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA):
1. Come up with new debate ideas.
2. Try to come up with a new contest or game.
3. Try to update all the information in the NS Wiki. (This will be problematic, given that NSWiki is "down for maintenance".)
--There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details.
4. Update the DSA Capitol factbook.
5. Appoint an advisor, if desired.
6. Contact Lemur Isles to familiarise yourself with the position.

Minister of Role Play (MoRP):
1. Verify all nations on map are:
--Existing
--Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too)
2. Keep the map current and updated.
3. Encourage new roleplays in the Gymnasia.

Well, I've laboriously swept the region for nations violating the conditions of Membership in Congress and Residency. Only two Members of Congress were out of line (and therefore now suspended):

Sarcophilus Harrisii
Verince

Incidentally, they'd fallen out of compliance for Residency as well, so they've been telegrammed and warned. By the way, Haltari, I noticed a couple of typos on the Congress list: "International Workers Cooperatives" should be “Internationalist Worker Cooperatives” and “Praetorian Republic of Arcomo” should just be “Arcomo.”
Thanks. I'll make those changes.

EDIT: Actually, "Praetorian Republic of Arcomo" is Arcomo's current official nation in the DSA, so I'm going to keep that one the way it is.

Aha. So they've got both "The Praetorian Republic of Arcomo" and "The Colony of the Praetorian Republic of Arcomo" in the DSA. Nothing confusing about that...

But thanks for the update on Charter violators. ^_^

To the Government of @@NATION@@,

Welcome to NationStates!

This is a message from the [region]Democratic Socialist Assembly[/region] where the feelings of “community, democracy, and solidarity” remain strong within the region. Any nation that follows any or all socialist/communist ideologies are welcome to reside in the DSA.

We stride to improve our government; and our active region and Ministers continue to foster thoughtful debate between citizens. We believe that this is a good way to advocate our collected ideology, socialism and communism.

We also have an off-site forum, where our regional government is located, we vote on elections, and have interesting discussions.

Updated a day early because I'm away for the weekend. I'm sad to say that all of our embassy regions nation counts has fallen this week, except for the SLU. The UDLS, however is below 100 nations, the Versutian Federation is about to go under 500, and we are still actually fairly stable in our counts, but still slowly dropping.

I should get the auto telegram up soon, could you please help edit my version? Thanks.

Note: to stop paranoia, our drop is a slow one (practically 2 every week), but the Versutian Fed. and the UDLS have dropped by at least 10 nations weekly.

Is auto TG not running right now? I definitely recommend using the old TG text while we hammer our your new one... Remember, Always Be Recruiting.

Also, here's my attempt at marking up the recruitment message:

Quote:

To the Government of @@NATION@@, (A simple "Dear @@NATION@@" would suffice.)

Welcome to NationStates!

This is a message from the Democratic Socialist Assembly where the feelings of “community, democracy, and solidarity” remain strong within the region. (Wordy, obvious, and I'm pretty sure you just made up that motto. Also, to say that those concepts remain strong seems to imply that they're fading elsewhere, or something.) Any nation that follows any or all socialist/communist ideologies are welcome to reside in the DSA. (You don't have to be a communist or socialist to reside here. Keep it broad -- the point of this message is to get nations to move here, right?)

Our region has a very democratic system of government, with elections taking place every 75 days (needless detail), and our constitution; “The Charter, has very simple requirements that allows anybody (any nation) to be active within (in) the government (with)in days. We stride (strive) to improve our government; and our active region and Ministers continue to foster thoughtful debate between citizens. We believe that this is a good way to advocate our collected ideology, socialism and communism.

We also have an off-site forum, where our regional government is located, we vote on elections, and have interesting discussions. (This doesn't excite me. Everyone has an off-site forum -- make it sound interesting!)

If you would like to figure out (learn?) more about the region, you may visit [nation=shortnoflag]The Capitol of the DSA[/nation], a nation that serves as our capitol and contains information of our history, government, and geography. (Better to say that they should feel free to talk to you to learn more about the DSA. That's a hell of a lot more appealing than being told to look at some boring little nation's factbook, right?)

Visit the Democratic Socialist Assembly!
(We want them to move here, not just visit!)

Minister of Immigration and Regional Promotion

Okay, so you've got a lot of work left to do on this one. If I may suggest a different approach: Start with the note TSJI has given you. Don't try to start from scratch; the old message has worked very well. Instead, read it over carefully and think about what you want to add or take away, and then go from there. You'll save yourself a lot of time and energy and end up with a much better product in the end.

The list of nations on the map has been updated, but while I was doing this, I noticed that there are actually quite a few nations that have made claims on the map but were never added, like Galifrax, for example.

I really can't cut it shorter than this.
This is a combination of TSJI's format, and the format I found on Google Drive.

@Gervase: There is a long process involved with me getting an auto telegram up, I would have to go through the "system" again if I was to wanting to edit it.
