I really think we should look at the tags by their purpose: as a way for (new) nations to find like-minded regions with. I think it's quite obvious that communists are perfectly welcome here, and there already are communists here anyway. I'm not sure how many anarchists we have here, though.

That's basically been my reasoning from the very beginning. :)

I don't think that anybody has ever mentioned being an Anarchist on the Forum or the RMB but there have been a few nations (silent ones if I recall correctly) that have used Anarchist symbols or Anarchist-sounding names over the course of time. I'm not sure if any are still around though.

Indeed, I figure The Syndicalistic Communities and Internationalist Worker Cooperatives must be.

I'm also in full agreement about the purpose of tags. The more we have, the further our net is cast, and the easier we are to find.

Not to throw a wrench into the works here, but what are people's thoughts on adding "Liberal" as well? As Herrebrugh noted, the tags are an excellent recruiting tool and nations that are "liberal" in the North American sense (a large part of the player base) would feel quite at home in the DSA.

I agree with the eco-friendly tag and not surprisingly, I support having the Communist tag. However, I oppose the anarchist tag.

Scratch a liberal and you'll find a conservative.

Swamp things!

We shouldn't get too attached to casting our net wide, how wide should we cast our net, wider? Add a conservative tag, wider still, add a nationalists tag, even wider,a fascist tag, there has to be some limits; we're supposed to be leftists, although I would say socialists. That's not to say I'm against having conservatives here and I would argue against their conservative views no doubt, but I don't want this region to be a poll of attraction for liberals and conservatives, I don't want this region to become a swamp.

Just a note, if we had a Communist tag, we would be the largest in the world for that!

You know what I mean ;) as many tags as are relevant to us!

In the case of communist or anarchist, the relevance would be quite obvious, since we would clearly be accepting of either of these people, since we agree with them on a lot of their anti-capitalist views, even if not fully. As for "liberal", you may be right. My reasoning is that a lot of would-be revolutionaries (particularly in America) might identify with the term (though incorrectly, we would of course argue). I once considered myself a liberal, before I became radicalised by finding out more about the reality of the way the capitalist system works and the class struggle.

I think that we should either add all three tags (Anarchist, Communist and Liberal) or not use any of them. Separately they can’t pinpoint the nature of DSA, but together they will send the right message about our values.
