To my comrades of the Eighth Cabinet of the DSA, greetings!

I wish to congratulate all of you on being elected or reelected your respective posts in the Cabinet and look forward to working with all of you during this term. Below you will find the issues that I would like the Cabinet to discuss and commit to as its shared agenda. However, all of you are free and encouraged to provide any feedback, ideas and initiatives you would like the Cabinet to pursue over the coming weeks.

For all newcomers, the purpose of these meetings is to discuss issues facing the region as a whole and receive status updates from ministers on their duties in the region. I shall ask each of you to regularly (preferably at least once every week or two) update the Cabinet on the status of your ministries and share any concerns. I shall provide each ministry with a small list of items to address, though you need not discuss all of these at once as long as you get to each of them eventually.

With that being said and without further delay, I declare open the first meeting of the Eighth Cabinet.

---Agenda---

1. Commendation for Haltari
This was brought up by Gervase (if my memory serves me correctly, I forgot to archive the original telegram) after the start of nominations for this Cabinet. This would be to recognise Haltari's work as President and World Assembly Delegate and before that as Minister of Immigration and Regional Promotion.

2. Region Tags
This had come up during my term as MoC, but little was ever done on this. I would like to get the Cabinet's and possibly Congress's opinion on this and edit them appropriately.

3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum
If you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum.

4. Left Expo 2013
We have been invited by Kryftland to participate, though no definite details about this event have yet emerged.

5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL)
The discussion resumed and stagnated on the NS forum. This would essentially be an alliance of leftist regions in the same vein as IRALL.

6. International and Embassy Expansion
In continuation from last term, I would like to see us expand our links further and see a couple more embassies established. In that vein, I'd also like to see us encourage more nations, especially active ones, to serve as ambassadors.

7. Forum Activity
Of particular concern to me is the lack of activity amongst the Congress outside of elections and a relatively slow forum in general. I would like to get some resolutions and laws passed through Congress to start the ball rolling, have the MoRP encourage more role plays in the Gymnasia and see the MDA do the same in the Great Debate Hall.

8. NS World Fair

---Items for individual ministries---

Secretary General (SG):
1. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.).
2. Organise an evaluation of the Seventh Cabinet.
3. Appoint an advisor, if desired.

Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA):
1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD.
2. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with.
3. Monitor ambassadors for potential inactivity.
4. Appoint an advisor, if desired.

Minister of Justice (MoJ):
1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance.
2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any.

Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP):
1. Make sure the auto-telegram system is transferred and working properly.
2. Review and revise recruitment telegram draft.
3. Try to find more info about the Left Expo 2013.

Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA):
1. Come up with new debate ideas.
2. Try to come up with a new contest or game.
3. Try to update all the information in the NS Wiki. (This will be problematic, given that NSWiki is "down for maintenance".)
--There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details.
4. Update the DSA Capitol factbook.
5. Appoint an advisor, if desired.
6. Contact Suceavija to familiarise yourself with the position.

Minister of Role Play (MoRP):
1. Verify all nations on map are:
--Existing
--Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too)
2. Keep the map current and updated.
3. Encourage new roleplays in the Gymnasia.
4. Contact Arahu to familiarise yourself with the position
5. Appoint a chair for the DSA currency discussion.

I definitely think we should issue a statement at least expressing our discontent of the mods' actions.

I am present, and a servant at your command.
 Going just a tad overboard, I'd say. (We ought to keep some humour going here. ;) )

Terlibe, I think you may be on the right track here. I've already issued a personal statement in solidarity with the Internationale and I believe Gervase is likely to agree with you here.

"Hello nations of The Internationale,

Despite our past, we must be able to point out injustices when they occur. Our disagreements do not define us and they do not matter when someone is treated unfairly. Overall, we are on the same side.

The removal of La Pas' account by the mods of this site is something we can not simply let go unanswered. We are extremely disappointed in the mods for treating La Pas differently than others. One shall not be punished while others go unopposed. It is shameful that La Pas and TRF have been dismantled while their fascist foes are allowed to continue freely.

The DSA stands by TI in these unfortunate times, and I think we can all agree that this atrocity should never have been committed.

There's my draft. Have at it.

My suggested edit:

Dear nations of The Internationale,

Our regions have had their differences in the past; nevertheless, we will not allow history to cloud our judgment. You have been dealt an injustice and we in the DSA must speak up against it.

The removal of La Pas' account by the mods is something we cannot let go unanswered. We are extremely disappointed in the mods for holding La Pas to an unequal standard compared to other nations. It is shameful that La Pas and The Red Fleet have been dismantled while their fascist foes are untouched.

The DSA stands by TI in these unfortunate times.

This is a strong statement by our MFA, but we should also consider whether we want to pursue a statement by the whole Cabinet or even a resolution to be voted on by the Congress at large. From a diplomatic point of view, it would be a powerful statement in favor of a new beginning with TI if we were able to get the whole region on board with a resolution passed by majority vote. In the short term, though, a statement like this is essential.

FWIW, I agree with a Cabinet-wide statement. In this case, a congress resolution would be, imho, needed to take any action more practical than this statement.

Sorry for the delay. I'm here, and I agree a statement should be released. The draft seems good to me.

Sorry I'm late to the meeting, real life has been keeping me super busy.

I think the draft that Terlibe has proposed is fine. The statement by our MFA should definitely be released.

I agree with Gervase in principle. I do believe that a statement by the Cabinet as a whole will have far more impact on DSA-TI relations than a statement by the MFA alone. I would also advise Terlibe to take into account the edits made by Gervase.

Of course, anything more practical would, in my own opinion, require a congressional resolution. I believe that is an action we ought to pursue once we've officially released the statement.

On a semi-unrelated note, since we have a backlog of clerical work due to TSS's relative inactivity, I'll take care of that today.

By the way, are we going to post to the Left Expo? It's been up for a while now.
