To my comrades of the Eighth Cabinet of the DSA, greetings! I wish to congratulate all of you on being elected or reelected your respective posts in the Cabinet and look forward to working with all of you during this term. Below you will find the issues that I would like the Cabinet to discuss and commit to as its shared agenda. However, all of you are free and encouraged to provide any feedback, ideas and initiatives you would like the Cabinet to pursue over the coming weeks. For all newcomers, the purpose of these meetings is to discuss issues facing the region as a whole and receive status updates from ministers on their duties in the region. I shall ask each of you to regularly (preferably at least once every week or two) update the Cabinet on the status of your ministries and share any concerns. I shall provide each ministry with a small list of items to address, though you need not discuss all of these at once as long as you get to each of them eventually. With that being said and without further delay, I declare open the first meeting of the Eighth Cabinet. ---Agenda--- 1. Commendation for Haltari This was brought up by Gervase (if my memory serves me correctly, I forgot to archive the original telegram) after the start of nominations for this Cabinet. This would be to recognise Haltari's work as President and World Assembly Delegate and before that as Minister of Immigration and Regional Promotion. 2. Region Tags This had come up during my term as MoC, but little was ever done on this. I would like to get the Cabinet's and possibly Congress's opinion on this and edit them appropriately. 3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum If you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum. We have been invited by Kryftland to participate, though no definite details about this event have yet emerged. 5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL) The discussion resumed and stagnated on the NS forum. This would essentially be an alliance of leftist regions in the same vein as IRALL. 6. International and Embassy Expansion In continuation from last term, I would like to see us expand our links further and see a couple more embassies established. In that vein, I'd also like to see us encourage more nations, especially active ones, to serve as ambassadors. 7. Forum Activity Of particular concern to me is the lack of activity amongst the Congress outside of elections and a relatively slow forum in general. I would like to get some resolutions and laws passed through Congress to start the ball rolling, have the MoRP encourage more role plays in the Gymnasia and see the MDA do the same in the Great Debate Hall. 8. NS World Fair ---Items for individual ministries--- Secretary General (SG): 1. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.). 2. Organise an evaluation of the Seventh Cabinet. 3. Appoint an advisor, if desired. Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD. 2. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with. 3. Monitor ambassadors for potential inactivity. 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired. Minister of Justice (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance. 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 2. Review and revise recruitment telegram draft. 3. Try to find more info about the Left Expo 2013. Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Come up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game. 3. Try to update all the information in the NS Wiki. (This will be problematic, given that NSWiki is "down for maintenance".) --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired. Minister of Role Play (MoRP): 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Keep the map current and updated. 3. Encourage new roleplays in the Gymnasia. 5. Appoint a chair for the DSA currency discussion. Edited by StJames, 7 Dec 2013, 20:53.

Sorry to keep everyone waiting. You can start eating now. On the agenda, everything looks good to me. A couple of notes: MIRP: NS++ is supposed to have an integrated telegram tool now, so maybe check that out as an alternative to the current system. Afforess knows what he's doing on that front. All ministers: I definitely recommend looking into working with our counterparts in embassy regions to share ideas and experience. Jenlom of the VF put together a terrific conference for Ministers of Justice last term that could give you some inspiration in that regard. It was definitely one of the highlights of the last Cabinet for me and I think replicating that experience with other ministries would be great. I'd love to see RP developed more, and I've been kicking around some ideas for regional RP laws which could be debated as sort of a regional General Assembly (which Suceavija had in mind when developing the new Charter, I think). The recent invasion of Terlibe RP also showed some strong promise but seems to have died down, so it might be worth promoting that sort of thing as well. Seeing some progress on the interregional idea would be great as well, and I think the way to move forward on that is to get some kind of working group or committee together with our embassy regions to see what each region wants out of an organization of that kind. We have much to achieve this term, so let's get to it! Edited by Gervase, 13 Nov 2013, 16:57.

The NS World Fair has picked back up. And on that matter, I received this telegram from Escade:
I'd say this would be a great thing for us and would give us greater visibility win or lose the bid. What do you think? |

Note: if there aren't any objections to the agenda, I'll go ahead and remove the "Proposed" part and assume we've adopted it. To respond to some comments... @Gervase: I noticed the integrated system. I'll wait for TPS's opinion of that before I try anything... But I do have the API key already, so the transition over to that system ought not be too hard. Since I was actually planning to run for a second term as MIRP, one of the things I wanted to do was a recruiters' summit in a similar fashion to the Ministers of Justice meeting last term. I would definitely agree with you that that would be an excellent idea for all of us. Also, I was thinking of having Congress pass some laws separate from the Charter this term to spur activity. This is probably not what you're thinking of, but it would probably be a good idea nonetheless. @Terlibe: I'm not necessarily opposed to the establishment of embassies with regions that aren't necessarily leftist, but we should definitely also look for more classically leftist regions to establish relations with as well. @Corujea: Number 4 was number only for the sake of tradition and convenience. They don't really have to be done in any particular order. On the matter of forum reorganisation, I agree that it could use a little redoing. I'm thinking we could do that once we finish up with preparations for LeftExpo and the NS World Fair. |

It has been brought to my attention that The South Pacific is interested in opening embassies with us. What do you all think of this? |

I will be without a computer Saturday and Sunday due to me being in West Virginia in the middle of nowhere. The expo thing is set up, so that is good. If anything happens within my ministry, I give full authority to all of you to handle it for those two days. If you have any questions message me tomorrow. Besides that, you comrades are all awesome, and please someone fill me in on this chicken inside joke, im dying to know... lol |

@Terlibe: I know the South Pacific (specifically Escade) proposed working together on the World Fair, which I'm still waiting for opinions on, and Milograd proposed embassies with us on behalf of Lazarus, but I've not been aware of embassy proposals. Did their Minister of Foreign Affairs approach you about it? @Peoples Socialism: Considering that my mum is back in hospital until at least Monday, I'd see if Gervase could possibly use his computer as a backup. Alternatively, Afforess built an auto-recruitment program into regional administration through NS++. We could opt to move over to that system for the weekend and beyond, if you'd like. |

Free Canary Islands actually sent me a telegram. He has a nation that is in the Cabinet over there and he thinks it would be a good idea. I'm thinking it would be smart for us to do as well. |
