To my comrades of the Eighth Cabinet of the DSA, greetings!

I wish to congratulate all of you on being elected or reelected your respective posts in the Cabinet and look forward to working with all of you during this term. Below you will find the issues that I would like the Cabinet to discuss and commit to as its shared agenda. However, all of you are free and encouraged to provide any feedback, ideas and initiatives you would like the Cabinet to pursue over the coming weeks.

For all newcomers, the purpose of these meetings is to discuss issues facing the region as a whole and receive status updates from ministers on their duties in the region. I shall ask each of you to regularly (preferably at least once every week or two) update the Cabinet on the status of your ministries and share any concerns. I shall provide each ministry with a small list of items to address, though you need not discuss all of these at once as long as you get to each of them eventually.

With that being said and without further delay, I declare open the first meeting of the Eighth Cabinet.

---Agenda---

1. Commendation for Haltari
This was brought up by Gervase (if my memory serves me correctly, I forgot to archive the original telegram) after the start of nominations for this Cabinet. This would be to recognise Haltari's work as President and World Assembly Delegate and before that as Minister of Immigration and Regional Promotion.

2. Region Tags
This had come up during my term as MoC, but little was ever done on this. I would like to get the Cabinet's and possibly Congress's opinion on this and edit them appropriately.

3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum
If you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum.

4. Left Expo 2013
We have been invited by Kryftland to participate, though no definite details about this event have yet emerged.

5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL)
The discussion resumed and stagnated on the NS forum. This would essentially be an alliance of leftist regions in the same vein as IRALL.

6. International and Embassy Expansion
In continuation from last term, I would like to see us expand our links further and see a couple more embassies established. In that vein, I'd also like to see us encourage more nations, especially active ones, to serve as ambassadors.

7. Forum Activity
Of particular concern to me is the lack of activity amongst the Congress outside of elections and a relatively slow forum in general. I would like to get some resolutions and laws passed through Congress to start the ball rolling, have the MoRP encourage more role plays in the Gymnasia and see the MDA do the same in the Great Debate Hall.

8. NS World Fair

---Items for individual ministries---

Secretary General (SG):
1. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.).
2. Organise an evaluation of the Seventh Cabinet.
3. Appoint an advisor, if desired.

Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA):
1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD.
2. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with.
3. Monitor ambassadors for potential inactivity.
4. Appoint an advisor, if desired.

Minister of Justice (MoJ):
1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance.
2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any.

Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP):
1. Make sure the auto-telegram system is transferred and working properly.
2. Review and revise recruitment telegram draft.
3. Try to find more info about the Left Expo 2013.

Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA):
1. Come up with new debate ideas.
2. Try to come up with a new contest or game.
3. Try to update all the information in the NS Wiki. (This will be problematic, given that NSWiki is "down for maintenance".)
--There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details.
4. Update the DSA Capitol factbook.
5. Appoint an advisor, if desired.
6. Contact Suceavija to familiarise yourself with the position.

Minister of Role Play (MoRP):
1. Verify all nations on map are:
--Existing
--Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too)
2. Keep the map current and updated.
3. Encourage new roleplays in the Gymnasia.
4. Contact Arahu to familiarise yourself with the position
5. Appoint a chair for the DSA currency discussion.

(I'll just bypass all the congratulations step, for the sake of brevity)

Minister of Role Play, checking in.

As for our Agenda, tomorrow I want to elaborate on some topics, but for now:
- 1. I just want to agree wholeheartedly as his five consecutive terms on the Cabinet (twice minister then three times president), bringing our DSA to what it is today, are more than enough proof that Haltari deserves a Commendation.

I'd like to second Corujean. On top of that, I have recently expressed support for adding more tags, in particular the communism one. I also think exploring more embassies and joining a broad left alliance would be beneficial if we want to become more influential in the left community. The more influential we are, the more serious nations will want to call the DSA home.

Well. Now we must wait. We must wait for the arrival of Mr Gervase. In the meantime, what does everyone think of the agenda? Does anyone have any status updates that they can give the Cabinet? Is my tie on too tight?

Your tie is fine, but there is a teriyaki-barbecue sauce stain on your collor,

Anyway, what does everyone think of branching out to regions that aren't necessarily "leftist" but have leftist qualities and leftist residents? Regions like the VF and the UFN (who I think we should have an embassy with already...).

THIS IS A DRAFT FOR THE LEFT EXPO THING

Presentation
A representative from each participating region/interregional should post a presentation following the template below:
•Region name (linked)
•Flag
•Short description (~200w)
•Population at time of posting
•Relevant region tags
•Interregional affiliations
•Military policy (e.g. raider/defender/mixed/neutral)
•Unique feature/character?
Plans for the future? (optional)

[region]The Democratic Socialist Assembly[/nation] (I AM NOT GOOD WITH CODE, IS THIS CORRECT?

Short Discription:
Hello Comrades! We are the great people from the Democratic Socialist Assembly (DSA). We are the largest explicitly socialist region in nation states. Our 408 nations enjoy meeting other comrades, roleplaying, debating (we also have an off-site forum for more fun), and even playing an influential role on a global scale (many are involved in the WA). We have a very active government that is inclusive to all countries. Everyone can get involved! We have elections, discussions; there are countless ways to get your voice heard no matter how long you have been playing. When it comes to active leftism, the DSA supports leftist socialist policies. We put democracy and the people before private profits and discourage both capitalism and Stalin-Maoism; preferring democratic socialism (we have some democratic-anarchists and Marxists as well). In conclusion, the DSA is an enormous think tank and region for leftists throughout nations state. We welcome all nations, and may the left of nations states unite!

Population: 408

Relevant Region Tags: Democratic, Enormous, Socialist, Regional Government, and Social.

Interregional Relations: We have embassies with the Social Liberal Union, the Versutian Federation, and the Union of Democratic Leftist States.

Military Policy: (ARE WE DEFENDER OR NEUTRAL?)

Unique Feature: One of the best regions at fighting Zombie Hords

Plans for the Future: The DSA plans to grow and make the nation states left an influential movement. We hope to be a home for comrades looking for freedom and equality, and we will continue to prosper.

Reporting from MoRP:

item 4-which-should-be-1, done! Now I can keep the other 3 running. :)

Now back to the agenda:

2. Region Tags

Maybe we should list, aside the "technical ones", all of which we accept in our definition of "left" like: communism, socialism, social democracy etc etc. I think this could attract more people aligned with our views and I also think the presence of a particular tag would not divert people incoming because of another.

3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum
-NC-

4. Left Expo 2013
I leave it to Peoples Socialism, this draft is looking good. :)

5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL)
Is there a chance of this getting on track, on the short term?

6. International and Embassy Expansion
"[...]I'd also like to see us encourage more nations, especially active ones, to serve as ambassadors."

Indeed we need to encourage more participation, especially nations which have not served any term on the cabinet, this is an oportunity to grow the number of active nations in all activities of the region.

7. Forum Activity

Speaking of activity, the forums' structure could use a little reorganization. looking through a lot of different pages to see what's happening can be a little boring, so maybe that's why we see just a little group of topics active at the same time (even if you count the opt-ins and elections).

Well, there's my 5c.
