Greetings, comrades of the Seventh Cabinet of the DSA! Congratulations on being elected or reelected to your respective Cabinet positions and I look forward to working with all of you in this new cabinet. The issues below are what the cabinet will be deliberating on, and like in previous cabinets, these recommendations are simply what I would like the 7th Cabinet to discuss as its shared agenda. All of you are free to provide any feedback, ideas, or additional issues that you believe should be discussed by our cabinet. For all new cabinet members, this meeting is designed to be a discussion of our region's issues as a whole and the various initiatives concerning each individual Cabinet member. Therefore, I recommend that all of you participate in this meeting at least once per meeting in order to keep the entire Cabinet informed of your various tasks, duties, and concerns. Each meeting, you will receive a small list of recommendations for your ministry to address, but you do not need to discuss all of your recommendations at once, as long as you get to each of them eventually. And with this statement, I officially open the 1st Cabinet Meeting of the 7th Cabinet. 3. Review jobs offered in the 'Help Wanted' subforum (if you want an assistant for your ministry, post the job in the subforum) 4. NS Cultural Expo I have not heard from the main nation about this in quite some time, but this is still a possibility. 5. Leftist Alliance (Continuation of IRALL) I think this discussion should start all over again, possibly on the NS forum, to try to create a large leftist alliance, like what was proposed with the IRALL treaty. 6. International and Embassy Expansion After some recent incidents, I think it is important to look for some new regions and approaching them about diplomatic relations. We already have one embassy (UDLS) on the way, but I would like to find some other new embassies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items for individual ministries to address: Secretary General (SG): 1. Along with me, encourage maximum participation for the Charter Revision so that it gets done. 2. Make sure everything is updated (Amendments, Charter nations, etc.) 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA): 1. Make embassy recommendations to P/WAD 3. Try to find new regions to potentially establish embassies with. Also, try to create some closer friendships and alliances with some of our existing embassies. 4. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Justice/Head of Supreme Court (MoJ): 1. Audit region for Civil Rights (CR), Political Freedoms (PF), and National Categories (NC) compliance 2. Make recommendations to P/WAD for nations to eject, if any --I would like to eject as few nations as possible until Charter Amendment #39 is completed, but report all of the violators anyway. --Last term, Ratateague and I would give extensions to improving nations in order to prevent ejections of nations that are trying to improve. Minister of Immigration/Regional Promotion (MIRP): 2. Try to find more info about the NS Cultural Expo Minister of Domestic Affairs (MDA): 1. Come up with new debate ideas. 2. Try to come up with a new contest or game, although we already have a lot at the moment. 3. Update all the information in the NS Wiki. --There should not be too much to change. Mainly population and a few other minor details. 4. Update all the information in the DSA Capitol 5. Appoint an advisor, if desired Minister of Cartography (MoC): (or interim MoC) 1. Verify all nations on map are: --Existing --Reside in the region (domestic puppets okay, too) 2. Add nations from map opt-in subforum who request placement on map 3. Essentially just keep the map current and updated Edited by Haltari, 26 Sep 2013, 04:07.

Are we going to do an evaluation for the last Cabinet, or is it too late? |

I see no problem with that, who'll be setting up the evaluation? Oh and we should have a evaluation this cabinet sometime next month, so we don't have to have them after the next cabinet is already in place. |

I'm fine with a setting up an evaluation for the last cabinet, and it can be set up by any cabinet member really. Also, it would be a good idea to make sure to do one in about a month for this cabinet. Lastly, would you guys be ok with creating an automated telegram right now? I know I asked about adding it for the next charter, but I think it would be important to add that in now while we elect the new MDA. |

I agree with adding a welcome telegram. We've been slipping with the welcomes lately, anyway. Also, this thread about formalising Regional Officers (like ourselves) might be an interesting read and something for us to think about. It would give the WAD the power to give members of the region access to, possibly limitable, region admin controls. So the MFA could possibly propose embassies directly and the Sec Gen could get the power to update the WFE. |

That sounds interesting. As for the evaluation, I believe we should do a poll like last time, but accompanied by a thread where people can express why they voted the way they did, if they want. |

Also, I think someone should propose an amendment which would say that anyone who defends fascists is not allowed in the region. Now pick your jaws up off the floor and let me explain myself. If we put it to a vote, and the people vote it down (which is what would happen), that means we physically can't do it, thus wiping the governments hand clean. Also, perhaps it will show our willingness to compromise. It's funny how we get called appeasing all the time, and then people want us to appease them. Edited by Terlibe, 5 Sep 2013, 19:52.

Regarding the poll, I agree that the polls would work. I think TSS should do it since the SG did it last time, although I'm fine with setting it up as well. @The Saint James Islands That's definitely an interesting idea. We'll see if it gets implemented. @Terlibe The problem with that is if it doesn't pass, TI will still be mad at us for supposedly having "fash appeasers," even though the regional government's hands are clean. Also, I would not want to to propose or support that kind of an amendment. |

@Terlibe: While it's a great idea in theory, I fear it'll do nothing to placate TI. The other issue is finding someone who would want to propose and sponsor an amendment like that. But if you'd like to try your hand at writing that amendment, I shall not stop you. (But that should probably wait until after the Charter Revision is finished.) Though I have an idea myself, about opening up the workings of the government. What if we, at the close of each of these meetings, released minutes of what we talked about in that particular meeting? To exist in supplement to the declassified archives. It wouldn't be our exact words (which would only be archived when it is optimal to do so), but rather, it would a summary of what topics came up when and what decisions we took about them. |
